So I got my reducer today. They actually sent a complete easy valve bowl assembly with reducer in place. I just expected the reducer. Will test soon.
They showed the units I ordered as shipped.
I pray that I am so fortunate and that shipping speed is also fast.
I also have a hope that I too will receive the reducer in a housing.
I let my Volcano build up residues for 3 years once, because I did not realize there was residue building up. (behind the screens was "out of sight, so out of mind")
I have not opened this current chamber in a year, and a new housing sounds nice.
More "Tales of the Volcano".
I never have taken apart my Valve... the Easy Valve.
The screens always look good to me after a brushing.
The valve has been in use for 3 years.. How is that even possible?
I thought to myself that this was quite a design... no buildup anywhere!
Today I noticed that clear gluey looking resin forming at the mouth end of my new bag...
so I know resin is happening.. I decided to take apart the easy valve and look.
The black plastic shell popped off, and had a small amount of debris caked on one side.
No Iso here, do not want to weaken a shell that withstood heat for so long.
There sat what appeared to be a pristine SS funnel... until I popped off that screen, and had a peak at the inner sanctum of that hidden cavern.
I say cavern, because it looked like one!
DSC03183.jpg

It was as hard as a rock in there, and resisted chipping.
I had to leave the piece soaking in Iso (91%)
DSC03185.jpg

Yes I vaped the Reclaim. It tasted of 3 years of strains.
I added an extra floating screen and sandwiched the reclaim between two layers of flowers.
Yes, I did get quite the medicine-head from the experience. It has been a good day!

Did you purchase the Easy Valve filling chamber reduced that comes with the easy valve at $65 or did you purchase the filing chamber reduced at $12.90 ? Bc the more expensive 1 comes with the easy valve but the other doesn't say it does .

So I am still waiting for the chamber reducer and capsules.
I did receive a little electronic scale that measures in milligrams. up to 20 grams.
The point is I am very close to my ideal load for MY Volcano. Its different.
The scale really lets me measure the herbs going in.
Tonight I put in 110 milligrams a tiny bit more than a tenth of a gram medium (stock grinder) grind.
The herbs are strong and sticky.

The First bag (2 foot) is soooo tasty and smooth. Literally LESS IS MORE!!
Im going to try 75mg
and even 50 maybe 25!
Something tells me that those small "hits" will not take a second heating well..

Second 110 mg bag is slightly harsh but still sweet. Interesting . I am not into the third bag. ever.

One thing I know no matter what is more herbs = less taste and more irritating to my lungs.
less herbs (Like 100mg) in the chamber heated on 6 is about as perfect as it gets.

For me it is as much about the REAL FLAVORS as it is about anything. I love unique and different because it tastes unique and different.
that is where the Volcano really shines. Use small quantities and get great flavor.

So how is the chamber reducer going to effect these results? I cant wait to find out.
I need to understand if those delicate aluminum are a "requirement".

I really just want a smaller chamber.

That said.
I was brushing out the easy chamber I took it all apart and fiddled with it. amazing engineering. the plastic part that covers the inner stainless steel chamber has an absolute minimum of contact with the chamber. its held in place by very small set of ledges and clips and an O ring. cool the chamber parts fit together absolutly perfectly. Very very well designed and made.
OK I ramble a bit.
Go Vaporize 100mg of something that looks and smells amazing. turn your machine down to 6.
enjoy the TASTE.

I used the reducing chamber and capsules last night and really liked it. It brings the bowl size into what I am used to with other vapes, and I get one really good bag off it. I saved the abv after one bag for later. I took a few chambers worth and went back to the full chamber and was still blowing big clouds. It's a great accessory that makes the Volcano more flexible and appealing. I then used one in the Mighty and felt like I was getting strong conduction effects and the clouds were impressive.

Great accessory!

It looks like, by design, the reducer channels air into a narrower space (the reduced filling chamber).

So the airflow rate, through that reduced area, should theoretically increase. Because the pump will still be pushing the same volume of air.

Could theoretically mean quicker extraction.

Is the reducer tight to the easy valve bowl edges/rim?
E.g. tight enough to channel the air to the centre.... or would it flow freely past the reducers on the sides?

Still waiting on mine damn international shipping!
Lol

I am certain there would be no air flow moving around the reducers.
By the very nature of "air impedance" reducer describes specifically channelled air.

I received my reducer and capsules today.
I put it all together. great size herb BOWL. But. each time I used it I got light vapor and the flowers did not stay inside the bowl they blew around under the upper screen.

For me this is not good.

I loaded a VERY DELICATE aluminum capsule and it worked fine.
I loaded a capsule and put it into my crafty and got great results.

I will use the reducer and a small liquid pad in an attempt to vaporize some nice shatter. I am sure this will work just dandy!!

The Volcano is so darn efficient just putting in 100mg flower yields one great bad and one mediocre bag.
For now I will be using the stock chamber except for shatter time.

I know absolutly for sure that I will never be taking loose weed into concerts. Nope.
I will pre fill 8 of those capsules this is a concert goers dream setup no fumbumbling. the only problem is the crafty probably does not have the JUICE to vaporize 8 loads...

The capsules are freaking delicate. there is NO doubt that S and B hs designed this as a CONSUMABLE use 'em and buy more.
Its clear to me the reducer is designed and works best with these tricky little units. The aluminum material used is soft and weak!! they will not last no matter how much they are babied.
they are not designed to last.

Capsule use in medical settings is obvious. Dosing can be made very consistent.

When I look at the components of the easy valve and now the reducer I am absolutly impressed. the reducer is machined from stainless steel The machine work is supburb. Perfect.
I think we need a kind of screen lid that would snap onto the top of the "reduced chamber" as it is because the upper screen does not make contact and is not sealed to the reduced chamber herb materials fly OUT of the heat stream into a turbulent and much cooler airflow toward the outside edges. I think this leads to insufficient vaporization. Not an issue if you use the capsule.

I wonder how many people would purchase a pre filled capsule?
Buy the herb then have them load it into capsules?
or trading with people at shows? kinda like the K-Kups. call them V-Cups.

interesting developments.

I predict we will see more new things from Storz and Bickel. I will say within 2 months.

Got the capsules , I did not have a chance yet to try them in volcano , is the silver sleeve holding the screen in the easy valve supposed to be removed to fit the new chamber ? I had a chance to try them in the mighty and they worked very nice but fit very tightly when the cooling unit is installed. Are they meant to be thrown away after use as I am having trouble re-opening them ?

Each capsule has a lid that closes and keeps your herb enclosed.
It is not in place when you open the dispenser... they left the tops on the bottom... it is up to you to cover the capsule!

They are not meant to be thrown away if too sticky to open, soak in Iso, then while still wet from Iso, grab it well and twist.

NOW...
I got my package.... BUT....
No testing for me...

Yeah I am not to happy with them , they are almost impossible to reopen and that was with only 1 session through it , i'll give it another test tonight. They did however work well in my mighty but for the volcano I will have to take the stock screen set up out when I want to use it unless I purchase another easy valve and this is no good since the volcano is more of my party vape for when I have people over.

they are almost impossible to reopen
Try a 2 pronged solution.
open and then bend 2 paper clips in half.
This will make you two 2 pronged tools.
insert the prongs of one on one side (through the breather holes) and then insert the other two prong tool the same way at the bottom (through two holes).
once you have that set up, just twist.
EDIT:
If you have a 1/4 inch retaining ring plier like we used to repair the older Zaps, that can be used in place of paper clip.

Fumbled and cursed opening capsules at first, but "vise & pry" works well.
If you are right handed, Curl your left forefinger around capsule like a vise.
Push against opposite side with your left thumb tip/nail to tighten the vise.
It's strong with the cap on, so tighten your finger-thumb vise.
You guessed it ... your right thumb nail is the pry.
Best mechanical advantage if two thumb tips are aligned.
Right forefinger tip helps to steady and sort of hold top as you pry.

I hate to say this but if the capsules were meant to be reuseable then they would make them out of stainless steel instead of aluminum FOIL.

Sure you may get lucky and ekk out a few fills you might pannel beat it until it just tears apart.
these are designed to use and toss or use and recycle or use a couple times and toss. they are NOT
designed to me used over and over.
they could easily be duplicated in a machine shop from stainless at 10 X the cost. (look at the quality of the machined parts on S and B equipment (it is of the highest quality))

I think the reducer with the liquid pad, Classic Volcano set to HIGH and really fantastic vapor hits of rosin or whole plant extract..
YUMMY

If you buy the capsules from S&B in a set of 40, they cost 34¢ each.
While my reducer has not arrived, I have been handling and experimenting with the capsules, and I feel they are like the polymide Inhalater capsules.... replaceable if you choose, but with care I have made my Inhalater Capsules to last over a year.
After manipulating and messing with the capsules for a full day, I believe these can be made to last a long time also.
they would make them out of stainless steel
They worked on this for a very long time, and I am certain they tried thicker, and weightier metal in the process. Maybe the thinner metal gave the best results.
They realize that the capsules are thin... that is why they store and send them out in a cartridge, to avoid mishandling and external forces.
I guess I will be able to better measure the situation when the ordered reducer arrives.

Well I have had no luck opening a capsule yet , only tried them in my mighty so far and I like the size of them , they are perfect for a quick session. I'll ty some of your methods for opening them a bit later. As for the reducer chamber for the cano . I don't see myself ever using it as i usually only break the cano out for group sessions as a party vape . If anyone has any parts for the solid valve , I'd make a trade for my new reducing chamber . I need everything for the solid valve minus the herb chamber. Can include two capsules also once storz n Bickel sends me the two they forgot with my order. Maybe I'll grab a 40 pack of capsules in the future if I can't open these up. They should be charging 10 cents each , I'm sure they will eventually trickle down and make there way to eBay for cheaper. Def a solid idea for mmj patients that need pre-filled doses. Maybe charge $5 for a filled capsule and it diminishes clean up of the device greatly .

The capsules are a great idea. Great for concerts or vaping on the go.
Use with the volcano for consistent dosing all great.
reuse requires time and HELL OF A LOT OF CARE.
Just slightly too much force bends the shit out of them.
Feel free to extend the life of a 38 cent aluminum chamber.
Not worth it to me. Too much fiddling and too damn delicate.

Unfortunately for me the reducing chamber doesn't work worth a shit without one of the capsules holding the herbs.
EXCEPT when I use with a small liquids pad it to vaporize concentrate. This works. Very very well for me anyway. smooth as a motherfucker!!
Lots of cloudy vapor multiple bags. I think this may be an efficient way to vaporize concentrates. It not my area of maximum enjoyment (as of yet) I love the taste and effect of really nice flower.

I am sure the capsules are made by S and B as an expendable. this is a great cash generating product. I hope they sell millions of 'em.
wait for knockoffs.

I am back to my 100mg Volcano loads for morning wake up.

I was putting herbs directly into the reducer without a capsule.
It doesn't work well this way for me anyway. I would be interested in hearing other experience using the reduction chamber without a capsule. the herbs blow around inside mine.

I do not really agree. I think S&B make these capsules to be used and tossed.
Everything they make is strong and designed to last. these capsules are not strong nor are they designed to last. a couple uses sure. But why? why spend ANY energy preserving a 34 cent item?
Not worth the effort to me.

So it has now been all of three days since the Repaired Volcano arrived.
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that for me Vapor is the only way. I have been vapor only for a long time the Volcano completely confirms it for me.

The Volcano is more efficient than my crafty. Which I thought was pretty darn efficient.
The volcano is different in that When medicating The vapor from a balloon Just works better and lasts longer and does it with less cannabis.
A 1/2 to 2/3 teaspoon of fine grind cannabis gives me three tasty 2 foot bags. The temp knob is set around 1 o'clock. The first bag is the best tasting. The second bag has the best effect. The third re enforces the effect with a lighter taste but can have some "woody" taste or flavor. For me the third bag is mostly unnecessary. If I am going to get to where I need to be on ONE bag most of the time but ill put two away because I can. Sitting there and sucking in three bags of vapor SOLO in one sitting? not necessary with a Volcano. That really is the point. My use is dropping a little with the Volcano. I hope it drops more reflecting the efficiency of the Volcano
I MUCH preferred using the Crafty at between 355 and 365. I have yet to measure the temperature of the air coming out of the volcano. It is not TOO hot I know that. I think the temps on the Volcano must be higher than the Crafty. The effects are stronger. One of these days I will measure temp. I can't imagine that it has not been done before.

Are these quantities and flavor descriptions in line with all of your experiences?

Any hot tips? I am all ears.
I love how efficiently the Volcano does what it does. the great taste! the prime effects.

Here is a silly question. Have you ever received a BUD that was so so pretty and smelled so so so good that you couldn't bring yourself to vaporize it?
I Hate when that happens.

vapinmofo
I loved to read your post.
I vape at 191°c with my digit Volcano as uncle Vito does. That way balloon temp is perfect. imho you can fill the chamber at your pleasure, you will always do 2 delicious and potent bags and 1-2 wispier bags. I love the flavor of a Volcano bag. It's good from start to finish and you can play as you want. You can change temp, do foggy hot bags but in six months owning one I still have to smell some burnt flavor at the end of a session as with a 100$ vaporizer. I don't want to play company bashing but Volcano is the best.
