Here's your chance to buy a D-nail Sapphire Halo!

Nothing in my box either.

:(

I have been in contact with D-Nail since November but perhaps my name was lost in the shuffle.

In a recent email Diane indicated:
"I'm embarrassed to admit that when the last announcement went out at the end of November, I did not "roll over" the contact list into this new one."

People are human, mistakes happen.
However, I am disappointed that I have yet to receive an email indicating that production has moved forward.

No worries, I'm sure they will grow more.

:)

Apologies for the double post, but ...

I AM on the list!
Thank you Diane!

Looks like they're compiling the list, running down the list, and giving each person a 24 hour window to decide if they want a Sapphire Halo or not.

I pulled the trigger, it should arrive in 1-3 days.

:D

I got my email today too! I replied back a bit too late to actually order it but hopefully I'll get the link tomorrow. I'm really excited to try it to see if it will live up to expectations.

Mine came in today... Wow... I never realized how much affect even quartz had on flavor. It is the best tasting nail ever. I thought people were exaggerating about how good the flavor is...but it truly is the best. You will be more than satisfied with your purchase.

Do you have a SiC Halo?
I definitely prefer SiC to Quartz.

Can't wait for the Sapphire!
What temp are you running @?
Is it more efficient with use of concentrate?

I've used both the SiC and the Quartz Halos and overall I prefer the SiC which I'm running around 610F now. With the quartz I usually used more towards 720F and got a lot of oil running up the sides since they don't conduct heat as well.

I have all 3 Halo nails now and the sapphire is leaps and bounds ahead of the sic and Quartz.

I am still playing with temps, but I find I can dab at a slightly higher temp so it vaporizes quicker, and yet it still tastes better and isn't as harsh as the other nails. Right now I really enjoy 660 though.

I will say it is extremely efficient as well. I think it has a wik surface but I could be wrong... It sure seems like it though because it seems to vape quicker than my SiC at lower temps as well.

The wik surface is actually grown into it which is kind of cool.

That is awesome!!! I wonder how they do that lol. And I use about the same temps as you for SiC and Quartz. I recently got a toro grail and have been using that when I wanted a really tasty dab, but sapphire outshines it by a lot. But with my e-nail I agree, SiC is definitely the one I prefer out of those two. No problems with oil running up the sides on the sapphire by the way, minimal pooling as well.

About the same for me:
SiC @ 627*
Quartz @ 713*

Weirdo numbers, but 627* seemed like the sweet spot on my Auber RDK-200 w/ Auber flat coil.
Plugging in 627* on a SiC Halo into D-Nail's dish temp chart yields an actual dish temp of ~560*.
560* desired dish temp on a Quartz Halo gives one a range of 708-756* for controller temp settings.

Tick-tick-tick ...

1-3 days suddenly seems like an awfully long time.

:nope::lol::rolleyes:

Yeah, I looked at the temp chart but it isn't updated for sapphire yet unfortunately. It tastes so damn good I can't dial in what temp I like best, so I have been experimenting all day! :science:

Try being in Canada. Luckily it's usually only 3 days with the $40 shipping option, but maybe I'll splurge on DHL for next-day. Ends up being CAD$500 after taxes which is kinda crazy but if it's not worth it to me in the end I'm thinking selling it at cost won't be a problem at this point.

Sapphire Halo PURCHASED!!!
This is going to be the longest weekend, ever!
Just bought mine as well. It'll be nice that a bunch can test them out at the same time and compare notes. Tracking says it should be here by tomorrow!

A couple interesting things to note, the max recommended temp for dabbing and cleaning is 750F and it comes with no warranty.

I am looking forward to hearing everyones opinion! Lucky you, this weekend is gonna get foggy for ya im sure.

When I saw that there was no warranty for this dish, I wasn't sure I should buy it. My Quartz Halo lasted 48 hours, and that one had a warranty. Whatever, I like to learn the hard way.

Interesting, must have changed this recommendation since the earlier runs. Not an issue at all, I find that so long as I qtip, sapphire stays clean indefinitely at dabbing temp! I dab at 525f on my sapphire btw.

I don't find that temp readings from others like this are much help and if you use different coils, different controllers (or the same controllers on different voltages), different nails on the same coil etc that other people's successful temps are not necessarily gonna be yours.

I can say conclusively that I have heated my sapphire halos to 980f many many times for cleaning with no problems. However, if you ever go to high temps, I recommend doing so in steps. Raise it 50-100f at a time. This will limit thermal shock and keep the temp incline slow :)

There is really no need though. qtip your sapphire and so long as you aren't dabbing super frequently or super large amounts, build-up will be minimal and you'll be cleaning your rig many times before you think to clean your nail :)

So glad to see a few of you getting sapphire halos. Can't wait to hear more folk's thoughts on this one! I have been alone in sapphire land for far too long til @tylerj55 joined in!

Thanks for the tips! I'm guessing their recommendations are on the safe side to avoid sad stories. I'll see how it goes, if it does get dirty too often for my tastes I have another coil and dropdown for my SiC so I can swap them in and out without waiting to cool off first.

I'm curious, if you went to higher temps, would you also want to drop the temp slowly too or is that not a concern? I saw Brian mention he was working on some cleaning solutions that will work with the Halos so hopefully his mad science figures out something definitive soon. I access to a cappuccino machine so I can't use a steam wand for cleaning.

XeroRespect

This too shall PAX...
I couldn't pass up this chance to join flavor town! I've been loving the SiC, but the Sapphire Halo will make a stellar addition to the mix. Looks like I may just have to sell some older toys to make up for the wallet hurt! Can't wait for the Sapphire Halo!

It's finally here! I've had a busy work day so I've only been able to try a few small dabs so far but they've tasted great. I posted some more thoughts on it in the next-gen thread.

Is it still recommended to use the heat retaining washer between the coil and the sapphire dish? Doesn't say anything in my included instructions.
