Discontinued The RBT Milaana (unregulated single 18650)

The battery should be removed before you store Milaana. In the current configuration there is no way to to inset this button. Zion and Milaana really are just the beginning for this tech. There will be many changes to form factor and ergonomics in the future. Zion and Milaana are barebones. Everything is off the shelf with the exception of the wood and heater. When the manufacturers take over production, retailers take of sales and customer service and when all of you buy some vapes RBT will have time and money to buy the tooling and tech needed to bring the heater to other platforms.

I would not expect ANY changes to Zion or Milaana unless some major flaw in performance miraculously appears out of thin air. The design for Zion is 100% and any changes to Milaana would most likely be in tuning the heater only. I am sure we will hear more as RBT gets data from the beta testers.

Really, really looking forward to getting this one. I also added to my order recently as well after inquiring about some extra glass.

I was curious about the Twitter post where RBT had decided that 14mm was not adequate for the required vaping air flow and he had abandoned the 14mm option.

In the Twitter post he said that he had 14mm glass available...."cheap", so I took that at face value and I emailed him asking how much he wanted for it....... since I think that it would work well with my log vape.

But RBT then thought that I was looking for extra glass mouthpieces and gave me a special quote on a 5 pk (3 short and 2 long) that he told me he was going to be adding to his store when he had time to update it.

When he realized that I was referring to the 14mm glass that he had mentioned on Twitter, he got a chuckle over the misunderstanding, since his comment was really made "tongue-in-cheek" and without any serious expectation. But then rather than quoting me a price on this glass...... he told me that he would just throw in the 14mm glass without charge when he shipped my Milaana order out.

I sure wasn't expecting that!

It sounds like he is pretty busy working to get his vapes to market but he still took the time to get back to me.

I am really looking forward to getting this vape in hand and really think that it will become a favourite.

I have no problem cycling batteries and will probably vape a max of 3 bowls per battery before switching out. With 5 dedicated batteries I can charge 4 at once and still be 12 bowls in before having to charge while on my last battery.

This type of usage should allow me quick recharge cycles as well as extended battery life and always having a battery ready for peak performance, and almost instant-on vaping.

As you can see, it's kinda hard not to look forward to that!

I just gave in and ordered a mileena. I think I will prefer regulated, but im afraid it will be too long waiting for my gh or canadian zion ordering. The 80% chance next day shipping in april closed the deal

I'm on safari and got mine pre ordered no problem, maybe it's just chrome. At times my browser doesn't display everything as I'm on a iPad so the Mac has to be turned on to see all available options. Try a different computer is all I can suggest (not a technically minded man here)

Shipping it to the UK so EU shipping shouldn't be a problem

Good morning, I made a wooden stem yesterday for the Milaana that has the exact same bore size as the draw through the glass, its a straight clean hole the whole length through. Its 18mm on one end and 14mm at the mouthpiece end. I have no experience really with basket screens so not sure how well they stay put with a stem like this, am thinking about sandwiching a screen in between a couple clips centered within the stem at about a 1/2" depth from the 18mm end. I didnt get to shoot it yesterday but may today with the screen and such this afternoon, am out and gotta reup before I can test it, may send it out to my beta guy above @Shit Snacks for his assessment. Its a neat piece, hope it performs better!

I like the whole clip idea Ed. I think the glass stem can use them sometimes. Some times I get a pesky screen that will slide a little. If we had some type of clip that would grip when slid one way not the other it would be an added plus. Not sure if you were referring to this or not. Can't wait to see the new pics.

Interesting, so not 18-18 but 18-14 and it still has that same wide diameter?

With the basket screen, if the ID is like the glass, you should be able to lay an RBT screen on a table dome facing up, then just press the 18mm joint of the stem down onto it to get it in, then you can use a wooden ramrod (I often have to leave that pressed on a table for leverage as well) and push the screen in a cm or two so it has a little wooden rim above the basket screen. You can also try pushing the screen in reverse, from the other side to create the adjust-a-bowl configuration that is RBT standard as well. There can be variation in some screens, but I presume he sent you several, they may have to be forced a bit basket style, but once they are then the screen is perfect for reuse over and over.

My issue with the clip idea is it again narrows the screen diameter for airflow, getting dirtier quicker, and I believe that would mean a finer mesh than the one RBT uses as well (which some may like, less particulates of course) meaning it will need to be replaced/cleaned more often, and when I remove these flat screens (just like in Lily and Daisy, the original stem had the half inch and you sent the larger with the WonG, which had to be bent to get in) they tend to get frayed and damaged every time, unlike the durable basket screens...

Anyway I now have a wider basket screen in the WonG I was able to stretch out a bit to fit securely, plus a narrower old RBT basket screen from my original zion testing in the Maple prototype (only type that could fit in that narrower ID, I didn't try to force a new style screen), and both are working very well... True some prefer a larger bowl, so that's where adjust-a-bowl style would come in, but I prefer basket style overall. I am someone who hates having to use mesh screens in any vape, but in my experience RBT's are easily the best.

Also would wise, thought I'd mention that one end of the WonG fits loosely in the glass bowl, the way I had it pictured, but with the branded end as the mouthpiece and the other end in the bowl it is secure (but unsure if it goes in all the way as some of the joint pokes out). One end may be slightly thinner and one slightly thicker, the Maple stem fits slightly more secure. Could be a wood thing, and like glass there will always be some slight variation (in the glass bowl as well), so it's all fine and fits well enough, just something to keep in mind I suppose.

I don't think the precious children of reddit understood what crowdfunding & preordering were before the Grasshopper - seems like Amazon Prime is the base expectation and anything less is just plain rude! - and the Grasshopper's slow-rolling and yet-to-fully-deliver campaign created a huge build-up of butt-hurt toxic sludge that spilled into every other upcoming and unreleased vape's story.

Personally I don't mind the rough edges that come w/ watching a new company form around an idea I like, I just focus on the privilege of having dedicated designer/builders out there making my gear wildly better than it was while I get to follow and talk about the whole thing.

@killick I think you got all your bases covered! An inverter, car bat, and a deep cycle...

For any one else w/ nite core chargers also wanting to use them in the car.

My nitecore D4 charger takes 12V 1A dc input from the same standard barrel Jack adapter as the mighty, hi, and even one if my laptops (think it uses 24v though, so defiantly check adapters voltage before plugging in power). Forget the exact size... Thinking 5 x 2? Could find out if any one cares. But the plug adapters come in sets so it's not much of an issue.. If your cord had a different size barrel Jack plug... or alternatively one could cut off and solder/crimp a new plug if you'r even a lil' handy. It's super easy. If you don't want to buy adapters.

The dc input is the round plug on the opposite side of the PlayStation style ac cord input. Voltage info is on a sticker on the back.

Hope it helps some one wanting to charge in their car.

Can you leave it in for a few hours? If no, why not?

I hate to be negative but this is sounding like we will all need fanny packs or purses to go anywhere this summer. Seperate stem, separate battery really bulks up the carrying size which imo is/was a huge selling point for this unit.

I understand the K.I.S.S. methodology, but if the unit could be vastly improved at the expense of a slight increase in price it should be considered. The ability to keep the battery inserted would essentially cut down on the units carry size by ~30% let alone nix the need for a battery case or caps. That's pretty significant to me.

Would it be possible to cheat using a thin piece of plastic or otherwise nonconductive material between the connection up top? Similar to how many electronics are shipped and stored with batteries inserted?

If size and the number of items in your pocket is the concern just insert the battery backwards while in your pocket and flip it again when you want to use it. It won't heat up while in backwards.

Absolutely, was my thought as well.
It needs a kill switch but if RBT isn't willing a piece of plastic will have to do.
Even better, if it only worked with the battery inserted in one direction only.
It would have to be Polarity correct to fire that mighty heater.
Without something it s ure won't be poctable.

.. So is this confirmation that this works? I only ask because the (now defunct) led function said it functioned with the battery either direction. In fact reversing that battery was how it was switched on and off iirc.

This, I think it's a simple loop so it's not clear it would care about reversing the battery (the LED would care, that's why that feature would've worked). Someone in the know will chime in, for now the piece-of-plastic is the easiest solution.

I don't think the Milaana is supposed to be a fully designed portable w stealth and pocket-ability as it's big points, it's just a smaller/simpler/cheaper path to Zion heater tech, w a nice form factor while in use.

Really looking forward to seeing Mi although it's come round sooner than expected and not sure how I'm going to explain to my wife - I guess we will get an update as to what is included in our pre-order bundle and a chance to add any spares etc. especially as I'm international and want to avoid any extra shipping cost. Btw if RBT is interested in UK retailers with Web presence and a brick and mortar store pm me for my opinion of the best around.

what are the chances of it turning on in your pocket? Talk about hot pants!
Add a loose hot glass stem and this is definitely seeming non-pocketable...

I probably won't be using this away from home but I might just fix up an "off" switch regardless.

It seems to me that it would be very easy to cut out a piece of that very thin plastic cutting board material to the same shape as the copper petal (but a little smaller so it isn't visible underneath it) and just leave a pull tab on one side - probably the side away from you in a normal right-side up grip.

So if the inner plastic petal is showing then the unit is "live" and if it doesn't show then the unit is "off" completely. Also, with the plastic petal trapped under the copper petal when the Milaana is in a pocket (especially a tight pocket) then the pocket confinement will also keep the plastic tab from moving out of position as well......preventing any pocket firing.

If you store the unit in your pocket with the battery installed the vape will heat. That is why batteries must be removed for storage as noted above. The instructions will clearly state that when they are printed.

I am hoping that RBT will be making the small stem standard. It fits in a battery case next to a battery.



You can easily find a cap, keep one battery and three capped off stems or whatever. There is a small toothpick in the case as a stirrer.

This is very pocketable for me but then again I carried a Zion around in my pocket on the farm for a year without issues.

Wait....what?

Why will the vape heat if stored in one's pocket if the power button is not depressed and there's no external metal contacting the positive terminal in one's pocket?

I've a VERY limited edumacation on battery management in unregulated devices so please help me understand this better!
