I have to agree with @420engineer on that, in fact nothing about the classic seems fragile.

Sorry guys, but he is right, I have heard of this issue before.

And to be honest if I pull on the dial really lightly sometimes the control light turns back on so I do believe that the dial is intimate with the temp.

I've just been Googling for thermostat issues on the classic, but can't find anything. in fact, it seems most people report the digital model as being the more problematic.

given the dial can affect the light coming on or off, it isn't unusual that when you pull on yours when it is close to temp, that you are adjusting the temp slightly and causing it to heat up again.

You think it looks like a toy? I always thought it looked like an oven

Maybe like an attractive toy flying saucer, with the markings of a traffic light!
I was going to just tell my nephew it's a heater for medicine if he does see it by mistake, but I'll do my best to keep it hidden when he's about.
I saw quite a bit of alcohol and cigarette use/abuse in my young years, so the way things are looking these days, maybe I don't need to stress so much about this guy just laying eyes on a (dormant) Volcano once in a while.

Any vapors out their that stopped all other methods and just vaped ?
I:peace:

I'm almost a year into stopping, and tobacco too! When you were having trouble with your Volcano the other day, I was going to mention that I gave up tobacco/papers/combusting by using a fake DaVinci clone and another chinese made vape that was throwing faults every other fortnight, so you must be able to manage something with a unit as good as the Volcano!!
Although it's not very portable!?
It's ok now in this bad winter weather, but I think I'm going to need a Crafty or Mighty for outdoor use in the summer.
Even though I have one or two good portables already, the quality of the Volcano vapor almost puts me off heading outside to use these atm!
Cant wait to taste the Storz Bickel vapor outdoors in spring/summer!
Try to stick with the vaping, combustion will taste wrong and horrible soon, almost as bad as tobacco, so you'll have no choice but to quit haha!!
I wish you the best of luck with it, any problems ask here it's great place for help and info!

Here are some usage notes from a fun experiment I carried out lately!
I would be delighted if someone tried this method and to hear what is right or wrong about it! Also, I'd love to hear some similar notes of how other users use the unit, and I would be interested in trying your way!

When I used to fill the bowl a nice bit and start at low temps. working up, I always finished at some point with an airy bag that left me unsatisfied. This way, the next bag always tends to hit harder.
Also the temp. stays the same this way, saves wear on your unit, saves the hassle of having to change it, and the hassle of having to decide on temps!

So, I used my EASY Valve with no extra screens or no liquid pad used.
I set the unit to 208C (406F or 7.5).
I put in a pinch (turns out each pinch is about 0.055) and keep adding a pinch for each bag.
The bowl was almost full when 0.5g of grind was used, and 9 bags had been filled.
I then grind the AVB in the bowl and run it through again for a final bag.
So that was 10 bags from 0.5g, and there's about 8 inhales in the stock bags. About 20 bags or 160 inhales per gram, hows that for efficiency?!
Obviously if you wanted stronger you could aim for 9 bags total, weaker 11 bags total?
But I guarantee you'll have a relaxed smile on your face when your done with the experiment, or part thereof!!:)

With the fishing and outdoors you should have fun with portable vaping! And it wont make you out of breath if your moving about.
Personally I love heading out getting 'happy' and replicating what I did before with zigzag and tobacco, but at the moment I'm a bit unhappy with the lack of mostly flavour and a little effect when it's windy and/or cold.
It used to be slightly similar with combusting outdoors but I'm hoping with a Storz and Bickel portable I'll get the tastes I want in the cool fresh air.

My local Namaste looked after me too lately, I will use them again next time for sure.
I'll have to look up the Vapman videos too, but I think need something I can use with one hand sometimes and something that doesn't look odd when used in public, so not sure if that fits the bill yet!

What temp you vaping at ?

I'll have cheese soon too, we could all do an online back to back Volcano cheese session via satellite link up!
If you're wondering about the temp. of @420engineers' Vapman, I'm not sure you can tell the temperature on those but I could be wrong!
I have put some temperature and usage info
for the Volcano at the top of this post, I hope to try other peoples methods too soon!

with the Vapman, it is all about timing; if you can count 6 seconds, then you'll soon learn your temp, and will never combust. it is one of the best vapes I have tried, and just look at the number of issues/problems/fixes compared to the electronic units ;)

I put in a pinch (turns out each pinch is about 0.055) and keep adding a pinch for each bag.

That is the same method I use often as well. I have a small measuring spoon, and each bag I just add a spoonful and give it a quick stir. Once I have added 4-5 spoons I empty the bowl and start fresh.

I will need to try that's pic method that you use and also purchase some scales to be able to be more accurate,I had said in a post before about starting at those temps and it seemed a couple of people thought it was a bit high to start with this I found it hit me a lot better than starting at 195,I like a right thick hit :D:peace:

Is it a torch lighter that you use wit it ? As I have a vapo-bowl and yiu use a torch lighter with that but I have went thru a few different lighters, would their be any light that you would recommend to last ? :peace:

Really interesting to read Volcano story :

[...]
When I asked Markus [Storz] how it came about the idea of the bag, he told me that he and a friend were getting stoned by heating weed with a hot air gun and that after a while he mentioned something like: "shit we are wasting all the vapor, this is all too much to handle", his friend casually responded with:" why don't you blow it in a bag"? Markus instantly new that this is THE idea and asked his friend to help him developing a vaporizer with a hot air gun and a bag system. Not knowing that Volcano will be a huge success, the guy who actually had the idea with the bag, did not believe in that venture and refused to participate!!
This was around 1997.

After this, Markus went to a factory in Switzerland on the search for a custom made hot air gun. He could not get what he was looking for and decided to make a vaporizer from scratch.
Unbelievable but true, the guy who had the idea with the bag was not the last one missing out on the million dollar business, volcano became in the years to follow.

Not long after, Markus found two partners, they got together and borrowed quite a bit of money from the bank and started with the aide of an engeneering workshop the development of Volcano. Short before completion, the two partners got cold feet, pulled out and Markus took the whole risk on his own. At that time he met Jürgen Bickel, an old school friend who got back from a job in South America. They together launched Volcano, and the rest is history.

To have an idea is one thing, to follow an idea through thick and thin is something else.

[...]

Thanks @vapman

I heard somebody mention a stevia spoon somewhere and I had no idea what they meant but a small spoon like that seems the best way.
I'm debating if the regrinding I do at the end is worth the extra bag,
not sure how much of what I'm getting is just powdery dust.
I should just toss it like you but I'd also like to find a decent use for the ABV.
My brownies are up and down!!

It might be a high temp for a full bowl of HQ meds but for a pinch at a time it's fine.
And there are posts a few pages back of folks using max temperature too.
I've lowered to 208C so far and I might go lower in the future as I did over time with my Solo

Thanks @vapman
Cool!
And amazing too to have a successful idea as a result of getting high!
It really reminds me of my own escapades around the same time.
You can't blame the other partners for getting cold feet,
I imagine if the law was not against it, I'd be making a living from products relating to the subject!
Or I have thought, if I wasn't a user and scared of negative attention, I'd be more willing to retail vaporizers or "gardening products" locally!!
Thanks for posting that here.
One of my dreams would be to become a successful vape manufacturer like that and make a fortune and have my dad help at the factory, oh the pride!
While I test the new vapes out in my office haha!

I make cannabis salve with my abv and it's great for moisturizing and pain relief and helping me stretch

What is your recipe for this? I might have to try that, when I got my med card renewed the doctor talked highly of coconut oil avb lotion.

The ratio is 1 cup of abv to one cup coconut oil you let that boil at low temp for 24+ hours in a crock pot then strain that mixture. Add vitamin e oil, 15ml. Then add any essential oils you like, you can find some that are good for anti inflammation etc to improve the pain reduction. Like blue chamomile.

Boil 1.7oz of beeswax and mix it with the mixture. Don't boil rather just heat them to mix them. Let it cool and it's done

I had my Volcano for about a week now and love it. My heat button issue hasn't occurred in a few days now so maybe the button just needed to be worked in. I like how the bag lets you go "wireless" once the balloon is inflated, and how I'm able to get very consistent results which just wasn't possible with the LSV.

I'm surprised at how well it works with even the amount I used in the LSV, but with room for more when I want something stronger.

BTW I noticed a distinct line in my ABV jar starting when I got the Volcano where it's very evenly vaped, while the LSV's ABV is very uneven with both near-green and black parts.
