In High School I remember walking past the teacher's lounge (smoking lounge) and it smelled worse with the thick smoke than you would smell and see in the boys and girls bathroom. Nowadays it's so different no smoking on campus at all. I was in a High School just recently and it doesn't even smell like smoke in the girls bathroom. Some girls used to put cigarettes out on the toilet seats.

I never smoked cigarettes in the school. Only sharing a joint with my best friend behind the football stadium during free period once. I was very bad for doing that. All hell could have broke loose if we would have gotten caught.

All hell could have broke loose

I was caught at HS in my Junior year. It really put a damper on Spring, 1970. I got to see what it was like to be hand-cuffed and placed in the back of a police car. I got processed through "Juvi" (juvenile detention) and got assigned a room before my Dad finally bailed me out. It was a very uncomfortable around home for quite a while.

I was busted with a 1/4 LB of weed when I was 17 .
They found it hidden in the inner lining of an old winter coat
I had in my closet . I was in school at the time , and my mom
was at home and didn't even comprehend what they found .
I was called down to the office during Home room and was met
with 2 plain clothed Detectives . Was also led off with handcuffs .

Ya , everything changed for me ' That Day ' .
My trial happened when I'd turned 18 , and was always
threatened with Adult Jail time , rather than Juvy .
( long story short ) Was given a 2 year probation and
promised to ' keep my nose clean ' and keep getting
straight A's in school ... I got Lucky ,
because there would have been NO WAY I would
survive prison life at 18 .

Fast forward to now ,
I can have a 1/4 LB mailed to my front door , and keep
the receipt for tax purposes ...

I used to substitute teach in Jr & Sr high schools in the 70's and I know what you're talking about first hand. I would opt to stay in the class room by myself rather than enter the cigarette smoke pits they called "teachers lounges". Even the students would comment on it.

I remember the spirograph!
Nice nostalgia again, thanks for posting.
There probably is an English version of this, the one we had and is in the pic below is in Dutch.
In Dutch called 'Het Hengelspel' or literally translated to English 'The Angling Game'.

Consisted of nothing but a few different 'fishes' with iron circles for eyes/mouths and the 'angling rods' which had a little magnet on the end(the oldfashioned red/white horseshoeshaped ones).
You angled without being able to see inside of course, so basically it was a game of chance.
Amazing how much fun that yielded even without being toked. ;)

I definitely had something similar here in the U.S. Don't remember its name, and I don't remember the fish tank, but but definitely had the fish and rod.

We had the same fishing game back in the early 1950's in the USA.
Here it is... (the square "tank" for the fish is inside .. it unfolds)

They made changes through history.. and the fish became plastic so users could fish in water...

I was a college student in 1970 living in an old home that had been converted into 3 apartments.
We all smoked and a wonderful time getting high, making huge meals for the entire house and being very close to campus...we were 'the" place to stop by for friends. Being young and carefree we failed to notice a retired FBI agent living down the street. There was a "raid" on the house and 7 people were charged with possession of on about 1/2 a joint. Unreal! We all ended up on probation for a year. I don't think charging 7 people with a part of a joint would fly these days...at least I hope not! They didn't find the pot I had stashed in the bathroom :) a small victory. It was a life changing experience.

I got pulled out of my first period class by 2 cops on the second day of 8th grade and was arrested and charged with distribution of illegal narcotics, ( $5 for 1/2g of homegrown leaf to a buddy)

He got caught and rat'ed me out. Changed my entire world.
