I hope the hopper folks had a nice relaxing holiday weekend, and are well-rested for the upcoming backer shipment marathon that starts tomorrow. C'mon guys you can do it !

It seems like a lot of this is side effects of moving from crowd-sourcing to pre-orders to a retail business. For the initial push, the backers expect (and deserve) to know what's happening in terms of knowing where the process is and what hangups there can be.

As the business moves to retail, it needs to be focused on the product itself to gather new customers, people like me who are very interested but waiting on the sidelines for things to solidify a bit. For a side-liner, talking about the delays just delays the potential customer's order.

The point I'm not making well is, the desires of the prospective customer are somewhat different that the desire of a backer. The backer wants to know "when", the customer wants to know "what". And the company can have to do some gymnastics to appeal to both. That's my theory on why this project seems finished and unfinished at the same time. I blame advertising, and look forward to placing an order when the turnaround time is about a week or two. (yeah I'm behind the back of the line..).

Has anyone heard anymore shipping confirmations or units making it out since the update? Was getting excited hearing about them but it really seems to have tapered off.. I wonder of they are doing more testing to fish out any bugs before shipping ?

Why, at this point, would anyone expect anything different than we have experienced over the last 20 months? For over a year, we've received bi-monthly updates with a variety of "the dog ate my homework" excuses why the GH team's promises of shipping weren't going to be met. What we've seen over the last month or so is that the only folks getting Grasshoppers are those that are doing reviews, fanboys turning reviewers, and rumors of merchants receiving demo units - basically the message I've heard loud and clear is "if you can help us keep money coming in, you're in the front of the line. If your a backer, thanks for the cash, we'll get back to you. And if you pre-ordered, thank goodness you didn't listen to what the Indiegogo backers have been whining about".

As a backer, I signed up based on an expectation that they were being honest on where they were in the process (when they said the units were basically ready for production), that they were going to be produced and shipping in Feb 2014. I didn't realize they had no real world experience in manufacturing (nor did they mention anything that might let us know about that). I didn't sign up to move them across country to a new lifestyle. I can't at this point fathom that they are "working around the clock" to bring out the Grasshopper to the masses that have thrown money at 'em - since it would seem they've only shipped a dozen or two units.

The good news: if I lose the money I put in for the campaign, I'll manage. And I've learned a big lesson - no more of this crowdsourcing crap - I'll go back to being an early stage investor where I at least have an opportunity to get some reward for my risk.

Trevor's big problems at this point - lack of credibility, and what is the likelihood anyone will "invest" in one of his schemes the next time?

@nonbeliever I don't want to sprinkle salt on an open wound but that is the risk when you crowdfund. I enjoyed your post and I think you point out some really important facts.

We all live and learn and the GH team is learning as they go. Hopefully their product will eventually come to the marketplace and be a success. I think it's going to take a while and folks will need to sit on the sidelines with this one. The patience are growing very thin amongst the waiting customers.

The company has a good idea - it's just getting it right, then mass producing it. Remember we need to be polite in our rants.;)

Has anyone asked them if they're talking the first half of July, or more like the 31st?
...for holiday backers.
I know it'll probably be more like July 2016, but a guy can hope.

This is a walk in the park compared to my pirate3d buccaneer kickstarter printer
Interestingly, their refund and this vape are both supposed to finally happen this month

It's only been pre-order-able since about January, before that it was back-able for a time.

So basically I was right.

Backing ended in Dec 2013.

Pre-orders opened in Jan 2015.

So there was a straight up year in which you could not buy the product. If you add the campaign duration to the pre-order duration, you get a little over 8 months where you could have bought a Grasshopper.

That was a wait list preorder. I didn't know there was a differentiation between preorders, my bad.

Edit: so was the wait list preorders only December 2014?
