Glad you pointed out the 'imperfection' in your Tooty. That would be the dimple. It is in all the newer Tooties without the bubble at the bottom. It is there by design, a simple request to make bonding the insert in the glass easy and thorough. It is an internal stop for the insert and allowed us to continue with the design. Before that, Zaplady could not get that job done correctly and we were about ready to can that design.
We love ours and never use the standard stems any more. I too prefer the non-carbed version.

Some production delays late this week. No ones fault but mine. I am starting a new project that for now is a hobby and it is way more techie than I have ever done so I have had a learning cycle that Zapped me into dreamland for a day or two. Everything is in order now and I have it mostly figured out so we should be back on track by Monday. One customer even got his very early as I read my pik sheet wrong and made an extra Zap when I needed a walnut. Has to do with our little wifi lan here in the middle of the mountains.

Edit for:
Another breakdown this PM (in Zapman) means no Zaps ship til Monday. A couple of you I will notify, others will be on time. Thanks for the patience.

I received one of the "new generation" Tooties along with a wall wart repair kit from Rick today. I have to say that this new design of Tooty is the best yet. I was one of the lucky people to be chosen to beta test Ricks original glass and also have been fortunate to get one of each of the new designs. This new one is very nice; simple, short and sweet! Nice improvement by the Zap team!

I promise I will post a pic soon. I need to make sure I get it in just the right light to capture the blue color. Sorry, I really lagged on this forum for a while.

That has happened a time or two that we know of since we have offered the Tooties. We try to keep the band of bonding material(JB Weld)small enough to do the job. Sometimes an insert will come out.
First, this is a good time to clean your glass. Second, send us an Email so we can send a new insert for you to re-bond and a new replacement Tooty, our standard policy when this has happened in the past.
Also a good time to repeat for all that getting the tip nice and hot will ease the removal of the tip from the insert.

Thanks Rick [email sent] :)

think i need to clean my tooty more often. it got to the point where both tips were fused together because of the resin.

how would you recommend cleaning the actual glass? is it okay to submerge the entire tooty in ISO? [as i do not want this to happen again]

You can submerge it in ISO or do what I do (and many others). I use 151 (since we can't get Everclear here). After a number of washings, I'll strain this, evaporate it down and use it to make hard candies. What can I say? I like to recycle and they do the trick! ;)

edited to add: Be sure to take the tip out before submerging it. The glass and tip are easier to clean this way and it gets rid of the resin build up on the walls of the stem insert piece.

Zapville is back to basics. I am over my total techie distraction and have put it into one of my many 'regular' flows so now it does not take my attention away from Zaps. Some beauties out today that should have left last week and more out during the week.
On the Tooty issue I have a few more comments.
The stem tips will easily slide out of the bonded insert if you leave the stem in the Zap for 3-5 minutes. This will work no matter how gooed up and gunky(Hi Gunky) the stem is. You must use pliers or an insulated glove or something similar to pull the hot tip out of the insert but with a slight twist, it will come out easy when hot enough. All the resin will act as a lubricant when hot.
Always take the tip out before cleaning the glass. Try not to allow the bonded insert to soak for long periods in whatever cleaning solvent you use. A tall cylinder shape glass works best. We use an alcohol test glass like this http://www.brewhaus.com/Test-Cylinder-Glass-13-P1178C102.aspx You can fill it as full as you like for shorter or longer stems. We also always use high proof drinking alcohol for cleaning the glass. We save the alcohol and use it again and again until we have a very very *nice* drink to have on a special night.

We have had a few cases like Smokings' insert come out. Based on the glass out of here I would say less than 5% have done that and we are always taking small steps to reduce that to 0%.

Smoking and others, the biggest culprit causing the insert to come out of the glass is pulling hard on the tip WITH PLIERS WHEN TIP IS COLD to get it out of the insert. I do not think the cleaning process will cause the insert to un-bond. I have spaced and left my stem in a Zap for much longer than 5 minutes with no damage. I can get a tip out very easy and I'd wager my stems are as bad as they get. Or would that be as GOOD as they get????

^^^see i didn't heat it up before hand. i had no problems taking the tip out on prior occasions, but i think i let it get too gunked up and some of the resin sealed the two tips together. now i know how to prevent this.

i wish more companies would go out of their way like Rick for customer service. it goes a long, long way.

Better question... Can anyone compare the Purple Days and Myrtlezap vaporizer if you have one? Pros/Con of both?
