thanks, i was confused because i thought id read in one of these threads that he didnt seem willing to do work like this, but i hope that he can help produce some of the ideas i have. im afraid of using an adapter as it would make it taller and even easier to knock over. do you think this wouldnt be that big of a problem?

Yea someone was saying that, but he said he was willing to make customs, when I asked him about it.

Yup, my FC711 is definitely in the black hole. Even Steven said he had orders shipped out on 3/22 that already arrived... I guess patience is key with this stuff :\

In other news, the other seller I've been in contact with IS making my custom JM Flow knock off recycler!
Check out what they sent me today

Very cool. Is this Lilixia?

No, you will fill the whole chamber up to the top of the ball.

I thought so too about the inline, so I hope that that will be added when the blowers add the downstem joint, recycler, and mouthpiece.

Basically it will look like this... hopefully

Very cool. Good work so far. Curious to see how this one turns out. It's pretty unique compared to most common dhgate bubblers.

This piece would function a lot better with an upgrid/slit.

I know ): I forgot to mention that, but he also didn't honor my request to make the joint straight instead of weirdly angled like that. I get that it protects the glass from open torch, but still.

Here's the original posting:

so at least it has a better inline perc than that. do you think having it face down will make it not function properly/mess it up horribly? Anyone else have an opinion on that?? It would be greatly appreciated

Is this the prototype from the dhgate seller you've been talking to? If so, looks very nice.
Looking forward to seeing a video of it.

Yes it is, and I'll post a video as soon as I get it! Can't wait, but with my luck it will take forever.

I ordered the black one with 14mm male joint when it was on sale for $37.50. The black one has the downline perc like the clear one you posted.

It's supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I will test it out and let you know if I think and upline would work better. I'm guessing it won't make a huge difference either way since the inline perc is so close to the hole that goes into the second (top) chamber. This is just an observation from my experience :)

It's way more likely the bubbles will travel up the return tube with the downslitted inline, whereas the upline encourages the water flow / bubbles up into the 2nd perc. I'm excited to see if the black one functions when you get it tomorrow. The piece would without a doubt have a smoother/less chuggy hit with the upslit and would be ideal, would love to see a straight joint and upslit on an improved future version, good work so far @MilkyMondays.

I agree that the piece will have more chug compared to an upline. I don't think it will be much more chug, but maybe a little. I think once it gets recycling it should be smooth. I hope.

I had a 40 hole giddle upline recycler and I actually would have preferred it to be a downline because if you pulled too hard the water couldn't keep up with the 40 holes and you'd find yourself take a dry hit (i.e. The perc was not diffusing any water if pulling too hard because the water couldn't recycle fast enough - the drain was huge too, no vortex, so that wasn't the issue causing water to not return fast enough. The 40 hole perc was just a beast).

I know the black one is only a 3 slit and a downline so it won't have the above issue which I am happy about. It probably wouldn't even have the issue if it was an upline with 10 or fewer slits, but the more slits the more susceptible it is to having the above dry diffusing issue.

I hope (and don't think) the bubbles from the downline will go up the return tube. The slits, especially on the black one I got, are above the return tube. Also, the air wants to take the path of least resistance so most of the bubbles will come out of the edges of the slits causing them to be even slightly further from the return tube. If I pulled harder bubbles will come out of the whole slit and not just the edges. I hope that makes sense lol.

So the downline will probably be like my 40 hole upline in the sense that if you don't pull too hard it should function well. If you pull too hard you will get dry diffusion (from the 40 hole upline) and possible bubbles up the return tube (from the downline).

Just my :2c: and hopefulness :rofl:and the fact that I couldn't pass up a recycler like this for $37.50 shipped

Amen brother, all my thoughts EXACTLY. Really excited to see your function video! I really hope/don't think that it will bubble up the return tube, but we will see!

EDIT: I found this video that makes it seem like it could function better if it was facing the other way...? Just more distance for the vapor to travel? Gah the suspense is killing me.

As for the fixes, I'll see what I can do. I haven't heard from the seller since they told me it was finished and shipped it-- I can't imagine they don't test their products, but if switching the direction of the inline will make it function way better I bet we can make it happen... I saw someone mentioned a CAD-like program to simulate fluid dynamics. That would be incredible. Anyone want to start a glass company??:brow::lol:

I also bought it when it was 50% off so just an unbelievable recycler for 37.50! Here's to hoping it functions as awesome as it looks:science:

Okay so I got the beach ball recycler in today and these are my thoughts.

Quality is damn near perfect. I have received 2 other pieces from Lilixia last week and they were very well made too. One of those two was the grenade rig. Quality is flawless but the function wasn't perfect. There was more drag than there should be.

Function isn't all that great on the beach ball recycler IMO. I know it will be nice for some especially if you got it for 50% off, but for me and my collection, it doesn't quite make the cut. For $37.50 it is not a bad hitting piece at all. But for $50+ I wouldn't buy it or recommend it. There are just better ones out there for $50 or less.

Here are my opinions on the function. There are no bubbles going up the return tube so the downline/upline doesn't seem to matter. There is a little chug, but I don't think it is because of the downline. I think it is because the large amount of water you have to use to get the beach ball to function properly.

I think the beach ball and the large amount of water needed are the real issues here. From pictures, the slits of the ball look larger on the Lilixia piece than on the actual JM piece. The slits on the JM piece also appear to be more on the sides and not on the top of the ball. There are 24 slits total on the Lilixia one, but only the few near the top actually function as seen in the video below.

So, I would suggest:

1) make the slits smaller
2) putting the slits more around the side and bottom and not on the top (so you could use less water. I think this will eliminate the chug issue too).
OR make the beach ball smaller if you want to keep some slits on the top which should also allow for lower water levels and less chug
3) do an upline (it may help, I definitely know it won't hurt anything )

YES VIDEO! You're the man. That thing looks sick, it really does have a chuggy roar to it-- I bet it will function perfectly with a domeless nail/ dabvac for air restriction! (which is what I plan on doing) And we answered our question... as long as there is water in the downtube, no bubbles will go up it. Yay fluid dynamics.

I was worried about the beachball... stinks that the diffusion happens mainly at the top. Mainly because its black you can't see the bubbling happening on the inside? I just watched a JM Flow beachball vid and it looks like the diffusion is happening mainly at the top, you can just see into the ball and see bubbling water everywhere, so just something to keep in mind. But I'm telling you we gotta get on them to make it with a sprinkler perc!!

It does look like the beach ball is a bit smaller in the clear recycler I ordered so maybe that will help with the water level. I don't know what having more slits on the inline perc will do if anything, but we'll see. Can't wait to post a vid!

Is it difficult to use with the angle?? And do you have to be careful about pulling too hard and getting a mouthful of water?

here we go. Fixed the mouthpiece and neck to a nicer one, and made the angle change on the connection for the water bubbling problem.

Anyone?

or can I find that on dhgate already?

edit: THis person wants $2500 at least for this. WTF!!!

I know this is real old, I'm just trying to catch up with some of these threads around here.
I found this the other day looking through Stevens youtube. It looks almost like the piece that EverythingsHazy wanted made minus the slight angle on the mouthpiece. I want this help a brotha out :)

I see alot of eggs and recyclers being made but was the mothership piece above ever replicated. I like that the best. Anyways cheers folks and happy Friday

This was an awesome prototype. Before the splash chamber was added above the pillars, and under the top part of the can. People kept complaining that it didn't look exactly like an original pillar piece.

The new one should look great and function really well. I just hope we get to see it soon. Would've liked to have had it back in February when everyone expected it. With Steven being asked to make and keep modifying a bunch of other random pieces, the large pillar keeps getting put off.

:) well I'm glad to hear its still coming, I can't really buy a bunch more pieces at the moment. Will have take a break till junish lol. Any word on that mother ship piece?
Yea, me too. Better late than never.

Awesome. Looking forward to a function video for that. Not too many of those percs around. Not sure what the obsession with bent intake joints is all about tho. It's a pain for holding vapes, and doesn't really have much benefit on pieces where your face is so far from the bowl(+lighter if you smoke) anyway.

I completely agree... I wish they would make them straight but oh well. There's even a function video that makes it look flawless.
