Hey guys, found another alternative for fixing/preventing the screws chipping the bottoms of the Solos.

Accidentally found this method and it may have been posted somewhere in the many pages of this thread.
Always good to share these things.
I stumbled on this when I decided to change my batteries as they were getting a little weak. About 16 months old with much use, down to just under 3 double sessions between charges. I know that's not bad but I want a guaranteed 3 doubles for my routine. Plus I found some CGR18650CG tabbed batteries around.
Anyway, upon reassembly I found the fit was very tight and had to actually hold the battery compartment down while sliding back into the other shell. When I pushed it together I realized that it had just enough good hold that I decide to just leave the screws out altogether.
The bottom of my Solo has many chips and missing pieces and looks like it has been to war. I'd done the crazy glue thing. Followed shortly by the epoxy weld fixing. These work but are far from a permanent fix. The washers work well had no problem with them but as my unit had missing pieces and too lazy to do more epoxy work I'd just had the screws pushing the washers on an slight angle looking kinda ugly. Leaving out seemed like a logical thing to do...?

So for anyone to duplicate this should be relatively easy. Removing the shell like you would to get inside and add some strips of electrical tape or something to wedge between the battery compartment and back of the Solos shell. Adjust so it takes a firm push to get in. No so much as to bend things. Just to give good hold. Screws can be put back in but the cracking risk would be lowered but still there. No screws no risk. It could offer problems with O rings and cap threading on some units. By this I mean if top is tightened right down and bottom is not fully inserted, followed by pushing unit down to fully insert maybe skipping threads on the cap??? Unknown.....
Always good to have more options.

BTW, while I was in there I installed another power type mod which I'll post about later. A whole different topic..... The see OF scratching his head.
:D

This is not without risk. When I tried it (some time back) I found it slipped down a bit 'on it's own', even without a ring installed. I figured it as 'no big deal' and shimmed the back of the battery cover to make a snug fit. I thought I was on to something until the whole inside slid out one evening when the tube was hot (I was doing battery life runs back to back). Fortunately, it fell in my lap rather than the deck. Left me with the hot tube in my hand (complete with cap) while the chassis made a somewhat off target attack on my private parts. Not something I'm anxious to repeat. It could have hit the deck instead, and all too often that's over concrete in the garden.

Worth a try, IMO, but I suggest a few screws as insurance?

Good advise as usual. It currently is so snug I would have never thought about expansion affecting it that much. I will keep an eye out for that. Going to leave screws out, for now anyway, just for experimenting.

Understood. I'll probably pick some up whenever the unit I'll but is going to have this issue. Now I just have to find a good deal for Canada. Shipping from the US can be expensive.
the best deal in Canada is most assuredly to be had with TORONTO VAPORIZER - 3 years 4 transactions later, I can say they are guaranteed safe & quick!

Those of you that have just ordered the Solo, you won't ever be sorry. A very dependable unit made with quality materials.

It works well as a portable and a desk style unit. You will find that it is very versatile adding different glass pieces and different tailored specialized stems and mouthpieces.

It produces great vapor flavor and large clouds. The Solo will blow you away.

No frost/crystals visible ):

In the beginning there's only a touch of the taste and after exhaling it feels as if I chewed a mint leaf (different flavored but same type of feeling if you get me). then the flavor intensifies and tastes too grassy for me.

The problem is that you don't like the taste of weed. Why do you want to inhale it anyway lol

Some cannabis flavor can be very flavorful. Some taste terrible, like the strain Willy's Wonder. Depends on the strain. The Solo gives your herb a very good vapor taste. Super Lemon Haze and Blue Dream have very good flavor, especially if you're using a great vaporizer like the Solo.

In the old days when we used to smoke a joint we didn't pay attention to the different great cannabis flavors out there. It was kinda like when you have a campfire and all the smoke is blown your way.

So my solo won't turn on anymore . I used it early today and it was working fine had a few bowls. I just tried to turn on my solo it makes a long beep shows my battery level and then turns off. Its weird never had problems with my solo, so i might have to check my warranty because i have no idea what could be wrong :huh::hmm:.

@krusht I like your enthusasium. I'm glad you joined the Solo fan club. Every vaporist should have one in the line up.

Make sure you have a backup vape. You don't want to be caught off guard if your daily driver gets a problem. Preferably a different type so you can broaden your horizon. Even Solos occasionally need a fix.

You don't want to go back to combustion.

Cool info.
I had other vaporizers that others really like similar to what you had.
the SOLO does taste better.
I will buy a back up and it will be a SOLO as well!
for me it's about medicating plus the SOLO is very basic.
no fluff!

So true - I cannot go back to combustion - it's nearly impossible for me to inhale sips on a roll-up now!

Think I'm ordering a Solo on Massdrop tomorrow! Looking forward to having an alternative to my vaporite at home :p
I'm debating on just holding off on the GonG and getting one of Ed's WonGs, smart?
You won't be sorry. Nice to see you in the Solo thread. You can't go wrong with the Solo. Not too much going on over in the Pinnacle Pro thread. A lot of complaints going around. Only positive vibes going on here.

I've been trying to find a quality portable for months now. I keep going back and forth between the Pax, Ascent, and Pinnacle Pro.

Almost everyone always recommends the Solo but I shut it down because it's bulky, not really pocket friendly, requires extra (fragile glass) pieces, and isn't discreet.

Now out of the Pax, Ascent, and Pinnacle Pro.. they all have flaws that I just cannot accept.
Pax = pricey, high maintenance
Ascent = kind of bulky, lacks efficiency
Pinnacle Pro = cheap-ish build quality, harsh and below-average taste

Those are some strong negatives IMO. The VaporBlunt team is working on a new Pinnacle fixing a lot of the problems users have been complaining about but that'll take at least 6 months and I've been going back and forth trying to find the perfect pocket-friendly portable for far too long now.

I think the market just isn't there yet.

So I've decided on a Solo. These are going for 200+ at local head-shops. Anyone know where I can buy it online with a discount or something?

Good choice, IMO. I'm sure you'll be happy with at least some of it's performance/features.

As to where's a good place to buy, I'll bet if you go back say two dozen pages and do a bit of reading you'll find it's come up 4 or 5 times in that period? I assume you have not done that.

I haven't. That was my first time in this thread. I'll read into it, though. Thanks.
