It obviously depends on the quality of your material but I find for my own use that if you cook equal parts of PD avb to oil it makes quality baked goods. I saved up 1/3 cup of spent PD herb cooked into 1/3 cup of oil for a brownie mix and they were plenty strong.

question for you tipsters. rather a poll. how much to do you guys pack in the stem when hitting a bong. ive notice a little less then half works very good after having trouble of LIGHTLY packing a bowl to the top. it wasn't overpacked, i never forced anything that wouldn't go. i then going less and less and the hits got better. im just wondering if you guys notice the same or if its just me.

Sometimes I have herb that just loves to make the draw too hard... so I pack it lighter... I dont care if the stem bowl becomes only half full due to compression... its just easier to inhale that way.

Other herb that is easier to dry/break down will fill an entire stem bowl and not mess me up draw-wise, so I go for that route.

i have a myrtlezap but they function the same, so im sure you can help tell me! if i wanted to pack a stem, then just leave it 'cooking' for like 15 minutes before i want to start puffing it. would i get a really big vapor hit, or would the vapor have slowly risen off into the air by leaving it on the heat?

Once I left a kief bowl warming up for a few minutes, when I looked at it it seemed like it had turned the brown vape color already...still got a good number of hits from it, but I would speculate that the steel sides of the bowl get pretty hot when left in the PD, so the conduction would vape some of it away.

There's some conduction heating taking place when the vapor tube sits in the heat exchanger for a while, and kief is going to vaporize quicker than ground bud.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed already and it seems like too difficult a thing to search. Is it bad to leave your herbs in a glass ashtray on top of your PD while it's on? It's an excellent way to dry them out but I'm afraid totally covering the hole for too long might cause the PD to overheat or something.

Since the top of the heat exchanger is about 3/8" below the top of the unit, I wouldn't worry about it.

Help! The coil thing in the vapor tube has bent upwards within a day's worth of usage... is this an issue? What is causing it and is it fixable?

The coil thing? I assume you mean the clip that keeps the screen in place? Were you clearing your spent bowl with some kind of pick instead of blowing it out? Even if the clip wasn't seated properly during manufacture, it shouldn't be bent. But even if it's bent, you should be able to flatten it out and reinsert it over the screen. Might take some time and patience though.

If you are talking about the spring clips that hold the screens in place, they are seated pretty well down in there and will not move in normal use. If you poke around and catch one of the compression holes, you can snag the clip and dislofge it. Poking etc. is not the proper way to remove spent material. It should be blown free (into the small bag) when it is spent. If it does not blow free easily, heating the load a little and then blowing it right away will unload the tube.

If you dislodge a clip by your mechanical cleaning, you can try to push it back into place with a reversed drill bit or a piece of dowel.

Don't poke around inside the vapor tip... Cleaning should be done with ISO or drinking Alcohol and aggitation. Use the included purple bottle. The directions might help.

ps. Pammy seats all those clips, not the blind guy.

Ah, thanks for that. I DID poke it once with a pen because I could not blow out the contents... perhaps I didn't try hard enough.

Couple more questions - is vapenow.com the only place where I can get replacement tubes? Also, what consistency of herb is needed for the ideal PD experience (meaning finely or coarsely ground, or somewhere in between)?

We grind it pretty fine.

Heating the load before you blow it out is a big help.

Purple-Days sells extra tubes, click the tube pic on the catalog page. But really you may find it pretty easy to get that clip back in place.

I found that it I couldn't blow out the contents it was a sign that I packed too much material so you might try a smaller amount in addition to clearing the tube while still warm. I find that with a small load I can just tap the steel part of the stem against the inside part of a jar and almost all of the material will fall out. Right after that you can blow through the tube to clear out the minuscule leftover bits.

sticky icky also tends to be hard to blow out. I had two sweet bags for a little while...one sticky and one dry. I preferred the dry as opposed to the sticky with the PD because sometimes I had to dislodge the sticky with a pen.

Also, and this makes no sense to me, the newest tube I got form Tom (it's slicker plastic) seems to blow out better than any of my other ones did...could be the weed, though.

The newest tube design uses the same #5PP plastic from the same source (US Plastics), I am now doing things a little different though. Glad you like the new design. Shaped a little different and hopefully a better feel on the lips. The tips are probably better too, than the 'old' way. The very end is de-burred and polished in a slightly different way. Pammy says it makes assembly easier, so the blow out would be affected also. You learn little things as you go along. Minor improvements, tooling changes, always looking to do better.

Tom, in all due respect , I can't imagine the pd being any better than it already is ! I'm getting to know you better and I see a true perfectionest. A true craftsman. Your like me ----- anal..... :lol:

One of our customers prompted the changes.

I concentrated on the vape innovations so much that the tubes were left a little behind in the refinements department. He (the user) pointed this out and I had a goal. Several tools and refinements later we have a slightly 'better' tube and tip, than before. I hope...

ps. these are micro changes, and have always been part of the PD evolution. Nothing new, just refinements of technique and finish. Stil the basic concept, if you know what I mean.

I am seriously considering getting one of these because I'm looking for something smaller for the vechicle and perhaps portable. Heres my question though. If I were to buy a second car adapter, cut off the outlet end then run the posive and negative leads to two 6 volt batteries (you know the big blocky flashlight types) run in series. would this work to make the unit portable and how long should the batteries last if anyones tried this. I know itd be clunky to carry the unit and a couple of batts around I'm just curious for a day where I was hiking or what ever where I could find a nice spot and relax theyd be in a back pack so it wouldn't be too bad.
Any Thoughts?????

Yeah. Forget your 6V batteries and if you want an easy battery solution get the Vapolution battery pack/charger. The connector won't be a perfect fit, but it works and you can always solder in the correct size if you want. The BP should give you a good 90 min., but if you have to warm up a cold PD with it that'll chop off at least 30 min. battery time. It's best to switch an already hot PD over to the BP.

Hey, guys. I asked about this in "The PD Experience" thread but it must've gotten lost in the shuffle. I think I might've gotten some nasty dust down inside my PD. Other than just turning it over and tapping/shaking it out, is there anything I can do to clean out the inside? I shined a flashlight down the hole and I can't even really tell what it looks like down there. I know in one of the durability tests, Tom dunked the thing in water. Obviously, that's not something I'd ever do to clean it or for any other reason, but is it safe to carefully swab out the airpath tube with a Q-Tip and some iso or something? Just in case there's nasty stuff stuck to the surfaces down there? Any other techniques for cleaning the actual PD unit itself? Thanks.

Tom actually just answered my question about a PD portable battery under the experience thread. But. . .. does anyone have a battery for their PD? Vapolution battery would work, but wondering if there is any other better "values" out there. I assume a brand not designed specifically for vape's would cost less. I tried a few google searches. here is the info Tom gave me.

12 volts. draws n7.2 watt (to figure out how long it will last).

2.1x5.5mm Plug Type M.

Any incite would be great. Thanks.
