It can actually be a bit sticky to get the whip detached from the bowl if you use the insert/twist method, at that point a bit of rocking can be helpful to get it back out. Also you don't have to twist to get a tight connection, you can just give it an extra push when inserting it. @mvapes, perhaps you need to push the hose back to expose a bit more of the connector before inserting it into the bowl, I know I did at one point.

if it helps you, I was told there is currently a 2-3 week wait (told this a week ago) on when hte next shipment will happen. so if you were to buy a herbie now, the evo might arrive before the herbie would. (depending on where you are in line.)

btw I totally agree with dreamer for the chair over the herbie (even though I haven't tried the herbie yet) I'm sure your current vapes do the job well enough right? I totally understand the want to to get a vape that will do the job better though. and I don't blame you. But I think the chair sound more important. but really you are the judge of that right? :)

I use the larger SSV diameter tubing and place it over the connection to the bowl:

I found this solved most issues with the vapor escaping, also allowed for a less restricted draw, and works better with GonG adapter. The only negative is that the whip does not separate very easily from the bowl in this configuration... on the other hand I always know where the lid is... attached to the whip/GonG adapter. :)

I do this also SliM.
When time to remove the hose, I hold on the the top as it sits in place, and just yank the tube off.
When it is still warm, it pops right off

I also use my fingernail and I will sort of push it off. I just alternate sides and push and it will eventually come off. It us usually cold then I do that though... I bet doing it warm would be way easier. Good idea!

The twist and push method for sealing the whip hasn't been working for me. It's been pretty much impossible to get an airtight seal, which means vapor is escaping. I'll look into pushing the hose back to expose more of the connector next time I sesh. I guess modding with some SSV tubing would help, but when I buy a high end device like this, I'd like to avoid having to resort to mods. I'm also starting to have trouble with the whip crumpling like some other users have mentioned.

Overall, I've found that Herbie will extract efficiently and quickly, even if it doesn't really seem like it, but I'm still struggling to get satisfying hits while running at sub-400 degree temps. I run my solo at levels 2-4 and get much thicker vapor. I'm also not sure that the flavor is as good as with the Solo.

Last night I packed .1g and had a handful of whip hits at 365-385 (thin clouds), then threw the abv in my solo and fired it up at level 3. The abv didn't look totally done, but when I hit it in the solo it tasted quite bad and resulted in thin vapor production, telling me that it really was pretty much done. I was as medicated as I would have been had I fully vaped that .1g load in my solo. So, I'm definitely happy with the decreased session time, but not totally happy with the quality of the hits I'm getting. Still getting to know the unit though, so my feelings could change.

But you say you are indeed medicated, but your experience is lacking because of clouds? Is that correct?

Odd. As you know I don't have mine yet (I am jelly), but with my other devices, I'm looking to ELONGATE my sessions, not decrease them. I do so enjoy the whole process that I probably consume more product than I need. I need to find one of the low THC strains that has the same terpene profile.... :) :) :)

I guess I'm still adjusting to the differences between this vape and the solo. With the solo, I'd know I was getting a nice satisfying hit by feeling the vapor fill my lungs (sometimes a little too harsh) and seeing thick vapor production on the exhale, accompanied by great, full tasting flavor. With this vape, the hits are so smooth that it barely feels like I'm inhaling anything at times, and the thin vapor production upon exhale makes me question whether I actually got a solid hit. Just a different experience I guess. I definitely enjoy clouds and flavor. As for the session time, I too am a big fan of the whole process and wouldn't want my sessions to be one hit and done. However, with the solo, it can take up to a half hour to get through a single bowl of herb (say .1g) which can be a little frustrating. It's nice to be able to finish a sesh in a few minutes if I'm pressed for time. You can definitely elongate sessions with the Herbie as well. Bags seem to take a bit longer as does hitting the whip without the fan assist.

Alright - I figured this whip shit out. Letter, what was missing in the explanation is that your pulling the silicone back, it's NOT to make more room for entry. What I found is if everyone notices, Josh is very into shaping things strategically. If you actually look at the shape of part that's inserted into Herbie you'll notices there is an internal conical shape to it. When you pull the silicone back, if you position it correctly and apply the twisting method like mentioned earlier you get this....

The silicone will fit into Herbie's female and I achieved a perfect seal!

I posted that solution last friday. Great minds think alike!

all good in the hood.
Boys and girls, i told you I was going to give Herbie a work out last night. Let's just say that I have something in common with the Auburn Tigers - we both got our asses kicked last night!

As far as performance Herbie IS everything I had hoped for. But, a few simple things I noticed that may answer some questions...

1) There needs to be a better sealing mechanism on the whip. What I noticed while vaping under a UV bulb is vapor escaping from the connection and it needed to be re-adjusted a bunch of times throughout my session. This may explain the heavy odor numerous members have mentioned.

2) This may be me being a stickler but when it comes to my toys, especially a toy as expensive as Herbie. When closing my lid - I wish there was a either a magnet or locking mech where the lid closes tight each and every time.

3) I believe when Josh designs a Gong adapter he should sell it with a separate whip. It needs to be smaller, and in my opinion - when your using high quality glass and have good diffusion you tend to pull much differently than you would on a whip alone. On top of that the assisted lung makes for massive vapor which couldn't possibly travel fast enough through the original whip because of it's narrow diameter.

When I adapted to water it almost felt like buying a V8 camaro and putting 1 inch exhaust pipes on there. When using the whip by itself having a little back pressure is good, makes for a steady stream of vapor. That's why when medicating, using the whip is best.

But, with that being said - in no way shape or form should anyone take this as a negative. This device is everything Josh promised. It feels solid, I tried looking for areas they may have cut corners but I promise I can't find it. My comments are solely to help the developer with things for the future. This device is a keeper, it's going to be around for a long time. I see so much potential for what Herbie is going to bring to the medical community.

Vito and Slim - you were right with your advice, I couldn't be more appreciative.
agree. nice review

392 seems to be my sweet spot right now.

OK, I fixed the whip issue, thanks guys. I just had to pull the silicone back a bit more so the connector could fully seal with the bowl. Much better now.

The temperature categories seem pretty fitting so far. I loaded .13g of Lemon Kush and had a bunch of whip hits (somewhere between five and ten) at 392. I felt like I just did a dab. Still feeling decently medicated two hours later. Definitely "intense" like Herbie said it would be.

I don't have the Herbalizer yet, but I do use by Solo quite a bit. I too like the fact that Herbie sessions can be much quicker than vaping a Solo stem. However, I can usually finish a Solo Stem in about 10 to 12 minutes. A half hour seems very long indeed. For me 10 rips 10 minutes I'm done with the stem! From you an others input it seems like Herbie can heat up faster and medicate more intensely much quicker than the Solo. I think that's a major advantage of Herbie. I'm guessing using the whip and the fan you can medicate in under 5 minutes start to finish. I'm really excited about this vape!!

If the meds used in the Herbie are high quality you can medicate much faster!
I hit the vape button, load the container and by the time i screw the 1/4 turn lid on Herbie is already waiting.
First hit has good vapor and depending on the temp used you can medicate quickly or slowly!
Lower temps lengthen the session while hotter temps finish off the bowl quickly.

A great tool indeed!!!

Omigosh, have you guys had the experience yet with Herbie, where yes, due to the quickness with which it medicates... the session seems real long?

LoL I filled this sucker up with Sour D, and I got so high so fast that this bowl has lasted a freaking year. I am still going. Sour D marathon bowls FTW!!!!!

With Herbie, the question is not "how medicated can I get?"... the question asked is "am I going to be sober anytime this month?"

Dial in 374 or 190 Degrees C and you will vape a bowl for a long time!!!
Fill the bowl and you will be standing/sitting for a long time in order to finish it off!

I am loving the smaller loads as i still get a good 6 hits out of a small load and it medicates me very effectively!

I also had a few more enlightening herbified moments last evening and figured out how to get the door to close appropriately. First, I didn't realize that the hide away compartment actually locks into the lid. Second, the whip catches the lid every time.

Has anyone else noticed that Herbies whip is sticky like Mickey Thompson Racing Slicks? I have, and as the temperature of the silicone raises it get's even stickier, hence when closing the lid your actually catching the whip (:whip:). So, we finish our session - some of us those sessions could be pretty intense () causing the whip to be at it's stickiest!

If I hang the whip like I do others on my vape station the lid closes much nicer than it was. Still wish it snapped closed but that's me just being a picky fucker.

On another note, you know what I find amazing? I've barely used concentrates for the last couple days, even with twice or sometimes three times the medicinal content of a bouquet of fresh flowers being able to vape the entire session raising your temperature through the gambit from enlightening to the intense sector, I get more medication than I've seen in a long time.

Someone mentioned having noticed that although they seemed medicated the ABV doesn't always come out brown. I have a theory...

It's all about precise temperature control in device with the technology to accurately deliver readings as well. Here's what I mean, although I absolutely love the EVO we all understand that units, because of that wide open air-path the VXL crew is famous for has also deemed that the cloud/evo's temperature could actually variate based on it's environment. With that being said, the EVO is a heavy hitter - one of the if not the best in its class.

Imagine all the other units out there below that level, I can only assume that if some units run cold than some units run hot. Probably close to the combustion point that Herbie would never allow to happen. So not only are you extracting meds like a mother fucker with herbie, which the feeling that it delivers is off the charts. I find it baffling how you actually have a fucking computer isolated from the heat and programmed to make sure your temp stays where you set it, including not getting hotter resulting in less visible vapor at points where on other devices you get clouds but still getting high as fuck, and greener ABV that may be light in color but I promise, there ain't shit left in there!

I challenge anyone using Herbie correctly to tell me they get as many hits off other vapes as they do with the Herbalizer....

I have another theory or just something i have noticed.
When i vape at only one temp the ABV is not always dark.
If i start at the low temp and work my way all the way up in 10 degree increments i get nicely toasted ABV.

It seems like Herbie is so precise because when done from low to high the ABV is evenly dark, no flecks of green anywhere!
