Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

UK vaper here. Ordered my ascent from da vincis website on the 17th of December ($250/~£153 with free international shipping), came on the 24th.

Have used it a few times already, I am very impressed. My previous (and first) vape was a MFLB knockoff (da kube), which was a good and cheap introduction to vaping but I never really found it good enough to replace combustion. I think the ascent may be able to do that, they seem to have thought of everything.
No problems so far, getting nice vapor and high, good flavour on lower temps, very even roast of the bud. Cannot comment on the company's customer service yet as I have not needed them, but everything has gone smoothly up to this point.

Somehow I didn't get anything asking me to pay import tax, I thought there would be. not complaining...

Have had my Ascent 3 days. Came with glass liner/straw broken. Middle button sticks and LED screen won't light up. Customer service, from past experience dealing with them re: discount codes not working, are pathetic. It is definitely a great vape as far as toking goes and it feels well built, solid but components sub-standard. What quality control? It's going back.
I had a stealth for 5 weeks and just sent it back again.Quit heating up and eventually quit coming on with or without using ac.These are great vapes when they work.I have several friends that want one but I keep telling them to hold off because I have keep reading the same issues with them as far as reliability and if they don't work, why buy one no matter how good the customer service is. Starting to think about getting my money back and getting a Pax.

I really was hoping the Ascent was all it was built up to be. It is my first vape & I'm totally disappointed with the quality of build. Would somebody please recommend another portable vape with proven quality of build & tokability? I am an old head but now use the herb medicinally due to spinal cord damage & intense pain. Better than the morphine prescribed by the doc! Any help appreciated.

It's unfortunate you've had the experience you've had. :(

Fortunately though, from what most have written here, your's seems to be an unlucky situation that few have had.

DaVinci will take care of the problem though, they have been doing so so far.

Hopefully when you get a good one, you'll be able to enjoy it as most others seem to have been able to.

It's a great little vape!

The Ascent holds a lot of weed. Instead of the glass jar or glass beads, I simply pack a shitload of weed. Yummy. I rather like my new toy.

Over and out!

Edit: I tell ya, I'm really digging this vape. With a few more sessions in the books I'm impressed with the taste. Thoroughly vapes the load, too. Good shit.

I can tell, though, that the key to long-lasting enjoyment is frequent cleaning. And that's easy enough with the Ascent.

... I simply pack a shitload of weed. ...

I've always wondered where the term "shitload" came from.

Personally, a "shitload" is about 2 square yards, or however much decomposed horse poop fits in the bed of my parents 6 wheel off-road/farm vehicle that we haul a few times every Spring and Fall to fertilize the gardens with.

I think it would be rather nice to see a "shitload of weed" piled up in the back of the 6-wheeler more so than dusty old horse poop.

I guess I better get my green-thumb on!

I'm told it's a holdover from the days of chamber pots. One of the lesser desirable duties as a domestic involved the collection in the morning. They were commonly disguised in special built furniture in upstairs bedrooms, and make an interesting class of antiques today. At least the furniture part. We have one in the living room under a potted plant. It can pass for a small cabinet until you remove the plant, hinge up the cover and ask the guest what they think it is.......

The common city dwellers lacked the domestics of course, they simply pitched the nocturnal deposits out the window come morning. Seriously. And we think the homeless today are a problem?

Anyway, a guy who knew a lot of such details told me that's the source of "shit pot full" and "shitload" in slang use today. 3 cheers for indoor plumbing.

Hey, you asked.....

@OF ... the source of unending knowledge and wisdom  ... (not sure if this would qualify as practical or useful ... but interesting nonetheless!) ... have you ever thought of applying for appearing on Jeopardy? (not sure how many vaporizer questions they'd have ... however ... :))

I think 'useless trivia' comes closer to it. Don't you? I seem to remember fun details like that....it's nice to remember something...... At least the details I found fun.

The Jeopardy idea is fun, but with my luck they'd ask a question about girls or something and I'd get caught flatfooted and red faced. I can do that right here without having to go to Hollywood.

I like the vape questions idea though......how about something patterned after "Name that Tune"? Blindfolded contestants would get a controlled toke of an unknown strain and have to guess the strain name, genetics, THC content are retail price.

Sort of like 'the Dispensary Game' we play now where you're told the strain, price and THC content. And allowed to look and sniff but have to pick the winner without tasting.......only different?

My God!?!?!?

What have I started????

Getting somewhere near back on track, I just ordered some glass flowers similar to what Norcalsun had last posted about and should get them in a few days or so. I've tried everything short of glass packing so it will be interesting to see if the difference is as many seem to indicate it can/should be.

As an aside, anyone who has ever said that "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." has never vaped.

There are always a bazillion ideas to try out. :)

After owning an ascent for a minimal amount of time the screen no longer works... and I'm just about ready to carve a hole in my skull. Any news on how replacements are going for UK customers?

DanA. post your results compared to the other things you've tried. I'm still experimenting. I'm game to try anything that sounds reasonable. I'm with you, always looking for improvement.

Whats the best way to tell if a bowl pack is done if you vaped on a low temp setting since you can't see vapor
Check the abv (already burned vape) if it's dark then it's spent.

In my opinion the Solo tops my list as a great vape. Check out the Solo pages.

The Pinnacle Pro is a good little unit very portable, but doesn't have the flavor of the Ascent or the Solo. The Pinnacle Pro is also a new unit and some people are getting a few faulty units (not as many as the Ascent). VaporBlunt has good customer service for the most part.

Try checking out both of those units. I hope that helps.
It's frustrating I know. I have been happy with my Ascent, but it just doesn't get me as medicated as with the Solo or the Pinnacle Pro, it maybe just my unit. Im tired of sending and waiting for units to come back.

Usually the shipping isn't reimbursed either. It's a risk buying a vaporizer that's new on the market.

Got my Ascent today and would like to share some first impressions, and of course got some questions as well ;)
(weird language may be excused; no native English here)

Smoking vaping background: similar to what has just been discussed: cigarette smoker and daily medication on a low level for many years; regarding medication a mix of joints and glass bong, and what comes in is always a mixture including tobacco.

In the end I'd like to get off the tobacco but still medicate, so here I am.

Had a Storz&Bickel Plenty for a couple of months. After getting used to it I really enjoyed this kind of consumption, but were still using other forms including tobacco as well, as I am addicted and as the cable of the Plenty wouldn't make it able to entirely replace it, and I want to medicate everywhere anyway, so I sold it and since then looked for a good portable replacement.
Decided for the Ascent..mostly due to this website here. Waited for it for quite a while and finally there it is.

Came in in perfect circumstances: rainy and hungover Saturday with no plans.
And ok, the delivery guy rang me out of bed, and when I realized it's the Ascent I got so excited that I didn't mind closing the door behind me with no keys. Standing there in nothing but my undershorts, in the cold and the rain, running around the whole house to enter my apartment through the thankfully open window, and to the amusement of my neighbors. But well back to the Ascent:

packaging saying here comes a quality product and holding the product in hand you don't get disappointed: bit bulkier and heavier than I expected, but that I like, and by looks and feels the materials and build quality is quite good, considering the small company behind - and wouldn't say I got low standards.
The whole construction looks good and is kept simple, so easy to use and clean as well.

Only thing that left me a bit confused are the little parts that came with it: the metal screens are not really mentioned in the manual, which I as a responsible customer read, and don't really fit anywhere. You could put one in the bowl though to avoid small pieces falling out of the base unit.. and there are these things that fit on the mouth piece, making it even stealthier. Apropos: got the black one, pretty stealthy!
Guess it doesn't get the standard cop in a standard road control suspicious. I could simply call it a kind of electric device. Haven't decided which one so far but looking for an answer..better to have one on hand I guess.

Electrics are all fine and easy adjustable. The heating time is impressive and much faster than the Plenty.
So to the first real usage after playing with it. The chamber is a bit smaller than I expected, which is good as I want to use small loads most of the time, and got a bit confused by the ongoing spacer discussion as well.
I loaded it with 0,16 stashed herb, putting the oil jar with its lid on top. First cycle 180°C. Much air resistance, too much, but still going on like this. Good taste, no visible clouds. Next step 195°, tiny amounts of visible, and to take out the rest of it 221°C max. in the end, small amounts of visible. All in all much less than with the Plenty. But still: medication level better than with the same amount using a joint! Herbs all equally brown and crusty.
Next try using only 0,1g, no oil jar. Ofc it can fly around a bit this way in the heating chamber, but does that really matter?! It's not like its big.. and if you keep it in the right position nothing at all should happen imo.. vaping it the same cycle as before felt good. No annoying air resistance. A bit bigger clouds at high temps, good medication effect. So is a spacer for small amounts really a must?!

Oh and this already looks like too much to read, so enough for this time..

Except for one last question: I got some hash of hard consistence as well.. can I get that into tiny crumbs/powder and simply put it in the oil jar - y not right?!

I've tried some scissor hash and some dry sieve kief sprinkled in with some bud, and it worked fine. I'm going to try some crumbled hash and kief in a jar alone. If anyone has tried this what was the outcome? I've heard that using concentrates in the jars doesn't work very well, hope that's not true.

Tried the scrumbled hash in the jar and didnt work well at all.. and honestly from what I understand, how could it, as there's no real airflow..

I've heard people use cotton also. I'd just like to try to get the taste of the pure hash/kief. Ill try a crumbly texture with some glass flowers and maybe a metal screen if needed. Anybody gotten decent results using cotton?

Norcalsun,
After using my ascent for like 2 weeks I don't really have any vapor problems. This is what vapor density is supposed to be IMO. If u put it to 430 u will damn near combust the ganja. So...I don't know why u would need any higher - for a vape. I usually pack it near half way.

The jar is for other concentrates like hash oils. The jar is supposed to reach vaping temperature and vaporize the oils but doesn't work quite as effectively which is why people are using cotton instead. For you though I suspect that simply putting a bit of bud in and then some crumbled hash on top would suffice? Worst case scenario you get high? :)

I'm noticing that my ascent is showing vapor/smoke with no weed in the chamber. Could this be older weed/thc/etc stuck in the corners etc? Anyone else see any off gassing?

most likely it's the silicone, if you read back in this thread (or the thread of their old model) you can see that this is a common problem with the vapes of this company. their official explanation is that the gases come from silicone parts that have not been cured properly. but they are also known for making things right for their customers, so just contact them, i'm sure they'll sort you out ;)
