Hi, there are a ton of fakes of these going around, and I do not want to make such a large purchase if it is not authentic.

I know that no matter what I won't get the 10 year warranty but all of my funds for this item are in my paypal account and the ploom website does not have paypal on check out so I must find from elsewhere. Vape world.com does not have paypal on checkout either and they seem to be ploom only online retailer.

I know there have to some physical authorized dealers who sell theirs on ebay so I just need to know how to "weed" them out.

What sort of questions should I ask sellers before I buy one so I know it's real?

Thanks

Does the ploom pax evenly vape the product like the ascent does or does it need storing like the mflb does. I just thump my mflb cause it's packed loose, but this technique wouldn't work on the pax cause of the tight pack

Pull the money from you PP account and buy from Ploom. You want the 10 year warranty.

100% this. Don't chance it not buying from an authorized retailer.

I find that it needs to be stirred. It helps even out the toasting of the load.

This too. I find that turning it every time you change the temperature (or about every 5-8 minutes if you like to only use one temperature; time varying based on heating level) works the best.

Can someone please post me to the page or link where the info is on the second screen on top technique ?

Also the last few times I have used my Pax it don't seem to be producing the same decent Vape clouds it normally does for me.. At first I was like its time for a good cleaning(which usually does the trick) but not this time.. I cant figure out what the issue could be. I always run it on MED.. Maybe I will up it to High temp..

Could my Battery(power) be slowly going bad?

found one of vids brass screens can work too note in the vid he has the second screen reversed the pattern side should be touching the herb since it would increase the surface area.

i say most likely it's what your vaping strain, dryness, etc they all play a key role in vapor production.
(that being said, one can increase vapor product by adding oil one drop of honey oil place in the middle of a bowl works nicely) some strains just don't vape well so you may find you need a higher temp or to add what is missing.

try my trick i start on hi when the light turns green i switch it to low/med.

I don't see any full investigation of so called 'party mode' posted in here, which is a shame! It is not just flashing lights! Mostly it is, ok. But come on, has no one else sat there and spaced out enough to start rolling their pax around watching the light? Ha ha...

Hold the damned thing out in front of you horizontally and roll it towards you. I think it is 4 rolls per mode. First mode, "party mode" - flashing lights.

Next up, a slower cycle of colors. More chill party I guess.

Next, a great mode for a device like this - the light stays a dimmer green (so long as it is hot, pink/purple if heating) unless the thing moves, which makes it flash other colors (based on direction of movement I think). As soon as it stops moving-back to dim green. Makes you almost feel like you're losing it. Great fun.

This is the mode I had been using until tonight when I went even further into the pax... Dun dun duuun!! (I guess something made me too distracted to continue through all of the modes before)

Next mode: when you move the thing, the light changes color. It stays whatever color it is on when it stops moving until it moves again. Ok.

And then... The final mode.... SIMON

The pax flashes- say, green, green, red. You move it, the light turns blue... Three red flashes!! You lose. ... Green, green, red. You move it a different way, it turns green! You twist it back, it turns yellow... Three red flashes!! You lose....

Once you figure out the motions for each color (not that easy to maintain even then) you can win and the light flashes white. Then the pattern again with one more added. Fricking SIMON.

I also noticed that while you're in simon mode the heater turns off.. Guess they knew once you started playing it you might get a little lost... Ha.

Anyway, I wanted to share this because it made me like the pax just that much more and I didn't see any full descriptions out there, unless I missed them...

Good call this needs more attention! You inspired me to fiddle around some more. Would be sweet to sticky an in depth analysis on the pax wiki once it is set in stone what they do.

Are you sure you get all those modes? I dont seem to get anymore than the first party mode. I can get it on 3 rolls.
Do you continue to just roll towards yourself ?X for each additional mode?

I wonder if all Pax party alike!? haha Maybe there are some different releases with different party versions. And I wonder if those fake/unlicensed party too?

Man those flashing lights are so hard to follow! :ko:

We're here to fuck shit up.
I don't think earlier models offer the various party modes. Mine only flashes and keeps it from going into sleep mode. No matter how many times you turn it there is no difference. Bummer, the various party modes seem cool. :shit: :disgust:

^^^ Yeah I was thinking the same. I've rolled the sh*t out of it and it never changes past 1st party mode. Not really a biggy but i like that motion sensing mode!

Don't drop your pax. Lost my oven cover last night. Used it at a outdoor beer patio, and no one noticed. I also had a cigar going. It slipped out of my pocket. No problem scooped it up, but cover no where to be found. I'm going by today with more light to find it. I think maybe a piece of Velcro across the bottom or something might prevent it in the future. Other then that I love it so far, after about 4 days of use.

Question about this method as he never says or shows in the Video( nice :( )

So you use 3 screens correct? One on the very bottom like normal(This is what he was not clear on and never shows or talks about) then one over the top of flowers and then one as a spring on top?????

mod note: Please avoid back-to-back posts, use Edit instead. Two posts merged.

Does anyone know where I can find better pipe cleaners? I find that the arts and craft type pipe cleaners leave fibres stuck in my vapor tube sometimes and its annoying and hard to get clean. Is there a stiffer more durable brissled pipe cleaner that someone else reccomends? as well as what the best type of lube to buy to immitate the mouthpiece lube pax offers?

Thanks

Do you still need to stir the bowl using this method?

I think this will depend on the qty of herb in the oven. My typical oven load with screen evenly cooks to coffee brown without stirring. If I have a tighter packed larger load....a small stir may be helpful. I get by without a stir 90% of the time.

I use party mode every time I use my Pax, but I don't do it for the entertainment value.

If I don't use party mode my Pax will go into standby mode during every hit I take. I always draw for longer than 20 seconds, and I don't like having to "jiggle" the Pax during my draw in order to keep it out of standby mode.

Also I put it in party mode once it has reached the set temperature, and leave it to heat the load for 20-30 seconds before drawing.

And this is why I invested in an extra mouthpiece, oven cover, and screen pack. Never know when life happens...

I ended up going to a smoke shop and asked if they had any non-disposable pipe cleaners. They had one that basically was a cleaner for something cigar related. Since my knowledge of cigars is limited, I have no idea what it was used for. I say related, however, because it was tucked away next to the cigars in the store. It's basically a wire with permanent bristles at the end that make about 2 inches of the wire useable.

Otherwise, I found that Ace Hardware (if you're American) has some good pipecleaners that don't leave little fuzzies in the Pax.

Lube info, as it has already been discussed to death, can be found back in the last 10 pages or so. Anything food grade that isn't water soluble.

Are there any pax users that regret not getting an ascent instead? Thanks

Choice depend on use ,are you planning on using for dry herbs or oils?

Ascent best use is oils, concentrates ,etc your heating up a glass vial with a control temp .
which is great for oils and waxes but not so much for dry herb.Since airflow doesn't pass thru your herbs you won't get those big clouds one might from a pax .

Pax best use is dry herbs ,oils concentrates can be added to your herb(cotton ,steel pad) or used in layers but you cant just fill it full of oil ,wax without making one hell of a mess lol.

I liked the Ascent very much with flowers. The taste was magnificent, better than the Pax. You can definitely pull big clouds from the Ascent, but you have to slowly sip. The user interface and controls are more advanced on the Ascent. The Ascent is a fine portable, but it is not as easy to use nor is it as stealthy as a Pax.

Unless you want to load huge amounts, you need glass screens for the Ascent for a great experience. This makes loading and emptying a much bigger pain in the ass than with the Pax. The Pax kills the Ascent in the stealth department. The Pax can easily be palmed and slipped into a pocket with minimal bulge. The Ascent looks like you are sucking on the end of an old Norelco electric shaver. It is not easily palmed or pocketable. It can be pocketed, but it's like having a little brick in there.
