This has been my choice for a short while as well, but the CR-123As are definitely another world from the other Omicron and Persei batteries. Needs a special charger (that is a bit wonky to get the batteries in correctly), rattles a bit in the tubes (to no ill-effect other than fit/finish) and isn't part of the standard Persei arsenal (though people may be led to think it comes with the base purchase - I think D9V could be a bit more clear on that).

This does definitely give us a lower gear in the Persei transmission, and it's a mighty useful one!

exit - you're headed down a less-travelled road. This is a good thing in my experience! :D

Edit: *grumble*Iris*grumble*would*grumble*be*grumble*nice!*grumble* ;)

Sorry, I didn't see this earlier.
Your CR-123A's don't fit?
My AW LiFePo4 RCR123's work great!
And they also fit in the Persei stock charger!
Maybe yours CR 123As are shorter than mine?

Mine do rattle a little bit in the Persei tube.
However since the spring in the tube has a little "give", what I do is seat the batteries slightly higher than I normally would, and it pushes down on the batteries just a little bit, just enough to get them to stay in place.
If you shake the assembled Persei around they won't move.

If I seat them as high as normal batteries, they will rattle. I didn't like that.

I still haven't gotten any 18350s yet so I couldnt put them in the photo to compare size. Have a 18650 and a SD card though!

Granted they fit in the Persei charger, but you should NOT try to charge them that way. The voltage is wrong, you will wreck them quickly. That's why the WF188 has a switch, to change voltages between types. Also why FlashVape has two different chargers for the two different types they use in models one and two.

Yes, they rattle since they're 17 not 18mm like the Persei is designed for. A traditional way of dealing with this is a strip of paper wrapped around them. If you want to go crazy with it, you can even wrinkle the paper so the battery has to press it flat again......

Good knowledge, thank you for letting me know.
Granted, since I bought these batteries, I have only used this charger which to the best of my knowledge is able to charge both battery voltages at their proper voltage (although I could be wrong) -

My CR-123A's fit ok, and more like a glove when I put just a bit of tape around them, but just mentioning that since the 6.0v configuration is often overlooked because it doesn't come standard and seems a bit strange fit/feel-wise to the onlooker compared to the fitment of the thicker batteries.

And I like the look of that charger, but in the specs it only says 4.2v output. It's possible they may just rely on the protection circuitry of the battery itself -- I'd be wary until the vendor or manufacturer could give you an authoritative answer. On the other hand, the UltraFire WF-188 charger I got from D9V specifically for the 6v setup has a switch for 3.2v (CR-123a) or 3.7v (everything else, but I have other chargers for them).

nah,
that charger is max 4.2V. It has electronics to adjust the voltage/current based on battery type which it detects. If it can charge AA/AAA's, C's etc Ni-CD's it has to do that or it would destroy them. You would know very quickly I think.

Exit do you have the SS KIT?
Here's the SHORTY that comes in the kit.
The longer tube is still shorter than the standard PERSEI tube.
This is a old photograph of the SS tube.
Fitted with 2 x 18350'S

I use a separate charger for my 3.0V batteries.
The TRUST FIRE that is taller I no longer use.
The 6.0V or 2 x RCR123 3.0V setup work really well actually!
I use the LONGER SS tube instead of the STANDARD which is even longer.
The tension spring on the end cap keeps them from rattling.

See the size variation?

You're welcome, glad to help when I can.

I agree with the others, I'd look for a proper charger, that one will kill your batteries with overcharging. It will try to treat the RCR123A like a 18350, and charge it to 4.2 Volts....or at least try.

You want something like the original Tenergy RCR123A charger TV sold, or the popular WF-188. The Tenergy, while limited to only that one battery, will also run on 12 VDC so you can use a 'car cord' for outings.

I have not....
But i've been wanting a SS kit for as long as ive owned a PERSEI!

I will own one soon!
I want one in PURPLE and one in TEAL!

Careful if I wasn't on such a tight budget I would have every color they make!

Red and Black I'll stay with for now until I have a bigger budget for vaporizer pens!
I use the SS kits more than I thought I would!
After I bought one I bought a second one.
I medicate alone so color shouldn't matter.
However I like my PERSEI's to be beautiful even in private!

Guys I dont know how the Hercules would work with 3.7v but testing started today to get it working. What this means is even the 7.4v Herc owners would be able to switch out the heating element within a few minutes and rock 3.7v and go 7.4v if they want more power.

Lets hope this works as it would be epic to be able to switch out your own heating elements, no more sending anything in. No more hassling the mail man or woman.

I wasn't sure at first, but I think the new Herc is going to be a necessity for me!

Can someone tell me where to find a list of image hosting sites supported here? I want to post a pic but either Picasa isn't supported or I'm just doing it wrong. I didn't see any mention in the rules, either.

Thanks to ataxian. PHOTOBUCKET it is!

I just noticed - the white mouthpieces that come with cartridges fit very well over the NO2 tube (you must remove the NO2 mouthpiece first), then put the white mouthpiece on and plug the NO2 tube into the cart.

And Voila...(I know this doesn't apply or appeal to most, but you never know what someone else might find useful, so I put it up here just in case).

By using the NO2 tube I' ve had a clear view of the vapor flow and density as I vape. I've noticed that hits sometimes get extremely thin for a while, then eventually go back to heavy vapor without reloading or switching carts. It would be nice if the hits were more consistent but I imagine it's just something I'm doing wrong.

Ok so here is the update since we dont have any 3.7v SR-71's ready and for the love of god i never thought about it till this week. This is what we did.

We took the New Oil Coils and tried it with the older 3.7v Hercules well its not the best test method as the coils dont sit right but it is a measure of what can be done. We used Gold.

Result:

Old Hercules v1 with new semi it barely fits oil coil because of design and the result is.

Well to tell you the truth i am disappointed, it feels like a 3.5 ohm cartridge on a 3.7v. The Capability is there but i really think we need a 5v to drive the 3.7v SR-71.

Well lets just hope we can get the 3.7v Sr-71 prototypes to test out.

One thing for sure, take a 3 ohm and a 4 ohm cartridge run it on 3.7v and see if you like the performance. Thats what it does.

will the upcoming herc sr71 replacements be only applicable to 7.4v hercules owners then? if you have a 3.7v hercules, do you have to wait longer to get replacements (until 3.7v sr71 is produced)?

I wasn't aware there was any replacement for the 3.7s coming. I thought all the 7.4 Volt issues had to do with oil use and leaks?

The 3.7 is 'herb only' as sold, right? What problem is it that needs fixing? I obviously don't have one......

the originals had bad connectors and sleeves, those needed to be changed out, but if you did that already you should be in the clear?

Hmmm.. Everybody attaching different things to their Persei...

I got some parts, 14mm to 19mm male-to-male adapter, Arizer elbow screen with a bit of cotton in it...

The mini-hydrator is actually much more stable than it looks...

Glass on glass on glass! (Arguably I could use a glass fritter screen, but I've never really noticed the difference... I do know that I appreciate the lack of silicon hose taste that is needed with my EQ - the Bender flavor just rolls in white milky waves!
