I have done, it doesn't seem to effect the heating up process much. I have left it horizontal and elevated for 20-30 min without using it at all, on the lowest setting, and the base heats up to a point where I can't hold it for longer than 10 seconds.

Only thing I can think of is that because the glass HC is shaped like that it's not making contact with the bottom properly, allowing heat to seep out?
Or because I have the Australian outlet and somethings wrong with it and it's overvolting causing the element to heat up more than normal, I did notice my bud burns pretty brown, pretty fast even at about 10-11 o clock on the dial.

I think its just normal operation...
Both my LSVs get pretty hot. I wouldn't say too hot to hold, but I could see someone saying that if they were a bit sensitive to heat.
I think leaving it horizontal can give a greater surface area for heat transfer, I found keeping it vertical reduced the residual body heat a bit.

I thought maybe it was just me but 2 other people that tried it have agreed it definitely feels way hotter than it should be, holding this thing makes your hands sweat fast. Even the very bottom near the cord gets warm.
I live in Aus so I'm no stranger to heat, even though it's quite cool atm.
But yeah that's my only gripe with it really, the fact I can't leave it on longer than 30 minutes. Still okay for short sessions and it warms up quick..

There has to be something wrong with your unit. My LSV has stayed on for up to 18 hours straight while laying directly on my coffee table, set halfway between 11 and 12 o'clock. Even at this point, I could still grab and hold the unit by the drilled heat shield while experiencing quite a bit of warmth, but absolutely no discomfort. The handle is slightly warm and the end cap and strain relief are room temperature or even cold.
Have you made any type of modifications to the plug? Is there anything else plugged into the outlet you are using? Have you tried any other outlets?

Both of my LSVs get hot all the way down to the end cap.
I keep mine set to 2/3 o'clock though.
Maybe its an Australian voltage thing? (Though I can't really think why that'd affect it.)

Haven't really touched the plug, I did unscrew it and look around but that was after the problem had already started, it's plugged into a double adapter right now and I did try another outlet. I'm fairly certain it is just the top half that goes over the heater cover, I just added it on and within 10 minutes it starts heating up. Why would this happen? I noticed the swiss cheese holes had a bit of metal residue around em that I picked off, but nothing looks out of the ordinary. The fact that its black could conduct more heat or what? It seems pretty thick on the inside.

Perhaps, but I would expect mine would also get much much warmer set to 2 o'clock. Throwie is saying his gets hot at the lowest setting. That does not seem right at all.

Man, I just don't know. I would contact 7th Floor and get a dialogue going about what may be happening with your LSV.

I already have, I followed their instructions to adjust the element then sent them pics of my heater cover and metal part, etc. but they haven't replied in over a week. ![:\](/i/s/hmm.gif "Hmm :\")
Understandable with all the stuff that's been happening in America atm, I'm just thinking I'm probably gonna have to send it in for repair and have to pay the shipping, I wont be charged anything else?

I can see clearly now the smoke is gone...
My bottom half only gets hot if I leave it on high. If I leave it at 12:00 or lower it is fine.

I've had my lsv for over a year and have always had that problem. Only way to prevent the heat build-up is to keep the dial below 11 (on my lsv this keeps the element from glowing orange). Any higher than that and it'll be too hot to hold within an hour (depending on room temperature). I've had friends almost drop it because they weren't expecting it to be so hot.

Mine gets hot after 30 minutes, especially if I set it down horizontally for extended periods of time. I set mine down on a hot pad and I used to use the hot pad to pick it up but after while my hands got used to it.
My sessions are usually over before it gets too hot and I try to be vigilant about turning it off when I'm done. If you turn it off when you are done, it always be cool for next time. Turning it off when I was done was a hard habit for me because I got into a bad habit of forgetting to turn my SSV off. But I forced myself because it always sucked when I came to start a session and realized I forgot to turn off the LSV and/or put the vapor tamer back in the freezer.

I have never in all of this time used my LSV with temp on to full use values for more than 10-15 minutes so I have not experienced this.
I did feel it becoming warmer in the early stages, and common sense told me that I should lower the temp in between hits if I was going to ever use this vape for extended periods.

This happens even at the lowest possible setting and the element is still orange, as long as everything's connected it'll begin to heat up, so I've just resorted to having small sessions with it/not even using the metal cover. I have the EQ too which I've given to my mum to use, but I just preferred being able to have it always ready, you know?

After enjoying my MFLB for several months now, I decided I needed something a little more powerful. It's still fun to use, but without the power adapter it just doesn't get the job done. So instead of buying a PA I ordered the LSV with a WPA, directly from 7th Floor. I also ordered my first piece of glass, a travel tube from Soul Shine Family Glass. Nothing fancy, but I think it'll get the job done. Currently waiting for both items to arrive. I guess my question is, am I forgetting anything? I'd like to be ready to go once everything gets here.
