what about the unit itself ? does the pax smell alot ?
Before use and IF IT'S CLEAN, not much... The oven isn't completely sealed off, so some wafting of odor may occur. After use it will remain a bit smelly in close proximity until it cools down, and then if you sniff it directly, you'll smell it, but likely not so much in a pocket.

I'm using a plastic bag to keep it in until I can find some of those caps I saw earlier in this thread to cap off both ends -- that makes it smell-proof when stored and helps to ensure the mouthpiece doesn't activate the unit.

Lol when I got the pax, it was my first vape (and still is)... I was really convinced that it didn't smell much, so I decided to put it to the test. I packed the bowl in the bathroom and was taking tokes while walking down the campus hallway, with 1 other dude. I also blew it in a random girls face to see what she'd do :p. but after like half a bowl My friend told me it actually stunk, so I stopped. I was really lucky I didn't get caught, If a police guy walked by me I'm sure I would of been skunked

I also love the feature where it reduces temp when idle for 20 seconds and the fact that the inactivity timeout starts from the time it is no longer moving rather than from the time you turn it on, this should mostly eliminate the annoying frequent power offs you get during use.

If you take long hits you may find the opposite to be true. I put my Pax in party mode every time I use it (not always an easy thing to do), otherwise it will go into standby mode in the middle of my draw. I also have to shake it gently during warmup, since mine seems to go into standby mode even during the heating phase.

The way standby mode is implemented in the Pax is one of my least favorite aspects of the vape.

Ive tried like 50 times to get my pax in party mode, but it never works :( no matter how I shake it, but I got mine at a headshop for 200, so could it be like a defected batch or something?

I seem to remember you go in party mode not by shaking it but by rolling it along its length 3 times.

spin it sideways horizontal facing you and roll like your rolling a joint.
yep, what kush said. it will only activate if you're holding it horizontally and rotate it like a screw driver sort of speak. It will only activate one direction, it comes on in 3-4 full rotations usually, and its easy, I can do it with one hand in a matter of seconds.

That should not happen unless you are a statue. Standby mode should only come into play if the Pax is left unmoved for 20 seconds.

Hehe man I remember those days! I felt so dumb when they posted that party mode video

Happens to me near the end of a bong sesh, usually if I space out :D

Hi everyone! I've been lurking for a while and i really want to thank you all for the quality of the forum. I've thought to make my firt post here because I know there's a lot complains about the pax beeing a hog (which is actally true) and i wanted to share my remedy, which i find to work really fine. I don't know if this has been already fully covered cause i haven't read all the thread. What i do is i simply use a normal pipe screen molded to fit the oven that act as a spacer.
I know videos are always welcomed, so here it is.

Gotta love the Pax. I had bought a persei and everything just turned out to be way to pricey for upgrades etc.. but the pax is great... you pay for what you get and you really don't need anything ever. I havnt really any complaints.. other than the occasional temp light issue.. but I just need to clean it better and get that lube..

Great idea, but what size/diameter screens fit? I don't yet have my Pax so I can't measure the oven size.

Thanks

I understand but there are different sizes of screens, if you get one too small the herb will fall from the edges, if it's too big it won't fit properly. I already have several diameter screens for my LSV, hopefully one of the sizes I have will be a good fit.

Thanks

See, again a COMPLETELY different answer, I give up, I'll figure it out once I have one because no 2 people ever give the same answer to this question.

Thanks for the reply, but I just don't know who to believe.

If you don't know the answer as fact from experience using and timing one with a stopwatch, please don't state it as fact, say "I think it's about...", not "It is..." (this isn't meant for the reply I quoted which does say he timed it, I'm saying this to all the others that come out with all sorts of different numbers that are all over the place)

Doesn't the party mode disable all timeouts though? Oh wait, I'll get all sorts of contradicting replies on this too right?

I mean does it matter that much to you whether it is 20 or 30 seconds till it times out? Seems to me all that really matters is the nice function of it pausing for you in stoner moments where you lay it down?

Don't think I'm a statue, but I'll check... :D

I take long hits and I guess I tend to stay real still when doing so. I've had it go into standby mode when drawing many times.

Even more annoying to me is it going into standby mode when it is heating up.

This clearly did not happen in the video michele posted, but I remember it happening on mine. I will have to test that again.

I can get it into party mode but it usually takes me a couple of tries. It seems like it wants a certain speed of "spin" before it decides to acknowledge what I'm trying to do!

if your put itself in standby mode when you move , maybe you have a defective unit ?

looks pretty sweet but idk seems lacking to me for 250 bucks, im totally new to vapes though and have had only 1 real one (da vinci) and 1 kinda one (vapor genie), so maybe i cant be a very good opinion but the fact you cant even set the actual temp to a desires state is weird to me, to me the desighn is very unique but i see rooms for errors, i like it though it looks tight totally sleek and cool i wonder what draws it could produce.
It actually has three temp settings which seems to be a lot of flexibility in the portable vape market. Maybe the solo has a touch more flexibility but imo it is way way way way less portable.

Also when did this become the thread of whiners and bitchers.

Yes it smells. You are vaping weed. If it doesn't smell you have shitty weed. Yes you have to clean it, weed is resinous. Duh!

Yes batteries are battery type things that suffer from battery type issues.
