Sadly, I fear that's exactly the case. You might get some comfort in knowing it's a common experience and easy enough to avoid in the future if you feel so inclined.

Darn, well can I still save the oil or is it going to all have that taste already?

Any insight on the 2.4 cart? If i barely see a glow, is it a good cart? Should it glow like the 1.5s do?

Chances are good that the oil not near the seals (the part that will drain out) is still fine, I think most of the burnt rubber tastes come from actual contact when it gets to the seals.

I don't know what to say about glows. I gave up looking a while back when I realized that you don't always see it anyway. The best way to check is by meter of course, many of the VV heads do this as well. IMO defective carts are rare enough to make the risk of one lower than the risk of damaging a cart looking for glows....fun as that is.

All things being equal 1.5s should be brighter, but they're not equal in practice IMO.

I know I'm about to get hit with a bunch of 'well I got one XXX' posts, but that's what makes horse races I guess.

I'm cheap. If I didn't think I overdid the dry burns (and if you trashed one cart you may well have done the next in the same way?) I'd try loading half a gram in and give it a go. Then again, guess wrong and you loose .2 grams of goods (costs about what a cart does?).

Tough call at this point.

I'd suggest these instead, smaller and very handy:
http://www.planetvape.ca/doob-tubes.html

If your goods are thick enough there's no problem turning them upside down, but to be sure put the little white doughnut plug that everyone throws away back in for the trip, that's what it's for.

OF

Thanks for all the data OF, definitely waxy/blonde/thick. Good looks on the smaller tubes. Learning so much reading about the do's and dont's throughout this thread. Glad I decided to cover all my bases before dropping the dough.

I really cant believe D9 hasn't taken down the 'oxidizing' statement on their site as well as the videos on their YouTube channel about how to proplery oxidize your carts... I can see why people get so confused/frustrated when receiving mixed suggestions.

Beats me why they keep it up, maybe they know something we don't. But you can get old waiting for any of 'the old hands' to recommend it to the new guys. You've got enough to keep track of, the goal is to get you making solid vapor and let you fine tune technique to suit yourself.

Maybe G will enlighten us......or pull it down?

The goods sound great, enjoy them. Count on maybe 300 hits to the gram, give or take.

Has anyone considered a secondary load for priming? As in something cheap like ejuice which won't damage the cartridge and is easily enough drained back out, knowing that my Girl Scout Cookies honeycomb may taste a bit like Do-si-dos instead for a bit.

And you'd know if it's good or not before putting in the $good$stuff$.

Ya know, wonder how long that combined taste would last? This could be interesting?

Edit: Sorry, OF ;)

I've tried it, changing strains doesn't work, the change over takes forever it seems. Remember, there's still .2 grams or so at the bottom ready to feed when something is added on top of it. The new stuff has to go through it, mixing as it goes. In my case I never did get the new stuff (Headband) to cover the Sour Diesel there before. Never tasted 'right'. I decided ten bucks for a new cart was a good deal, I 'burned' a lot more mixed goods with poor results.

You know what they say, 'after you water your Scotch, all you'll ever have is Scotch and water'.

I've no idea why you're sorry, whatever it is can't be very important or they'll call me back I guess?

Regards,

Oh.. because I dredged up the priming thing.

yea I wish someone would change that as I pre fired all my carts and none of them ever tasted right.
One reason I get tired of reading all the posts and then Delta never changes the directions.. Not sure why.

Also did they ever announce what persei owners of non serial numbers get? been over 6 months since that was mentioned.....

I have gone back to the t-swing set up as it more efficient and tastier.

HERE YEE HERE YEE!!!!!!!!

G is out sick, but he left us a message of good news. For all the OG persei users-owners(none serial numbered) Delta9vapes will be exchanging the non-numbered heads/tops with the newest tops. Also these owners will receive a $30 store credit which can be used towards any item on Delta9vapes site..

1. you need to send in your top(s) with your tube.
2. include your contact info(complete)
3. Include online account info(email) for store credit

Any questions you guys have, please call the office and ask for Gary in customer service. 818-849-6133
The tops have the latest safety features, and higher quality parts

I wonder if some sort of hand held adjustable heated sleave could be rigged to fit over carts and bring them to the perfect/ideal filling temperature in order to achieve a perfect load every time?

well since no Hercules will be here for 420 I decided I might as well splurge a bit. got 2 waxes for 5.0 carts & another wax for the 2.4 cart on the way .. also considering buying aw batteries but haven't fully commited yet

are they really that much better than the ultrafire ?

Yeh I think they are better about 20% better from what I recalled from OF. You can definitely see a notice from the stock batteries you get to the AW IMR ones

A micro torch seems to do the trick for me that's all you need. Just don't heat up the bottom half of cartridge and start with heating the top of cartridge. Then I heat the filling tool for a sec or too, with 10sec pauses to see if the oil is running down or not and keep heating until it all runs down.

Wow, I didn't even know that u recommend not to do this. Just got a friend started on his persei today and preoxed a 2.4 but left the 1.5 alone. I will refrain from doin this from now on, and also curious why is still up on vaporpedia and main d9v if its advised not to

I agree with you. From what I know, I think it's be best if it was removed too. There could, of course, be something we don't know in play here, that would be nice to know so we can do what's best.

For now, most seem to agree that it wrecks carts and causes far more problems than it fixes. While you're justifiably tired of reading about it, I'm getting very tired of explaining over and over and over to disappointed new guys why that's probably not a good idea. I understand I take that on voluntarily, but IMO it needs to be explained so the new guys don't waste their time and money and Wonder off in disgust. If I wasn't trying to help, I'd hope someone else would be.

Those few words are causing lots of problems and expense.

If it really is necessary to oxidize them one has to wonder why this necessary step isn't done an manufacture? Why should it be left for end users to do in a fairly haphazard manner that so often brings bad results.

Perhaps if we ask nicely enough G or someone 'there' can remove this problematic advice or tell us why it should still be done routinely so we can stop giving out bad advice?

OF
OF it seems like a logical approach,
I understand the 5.0 carts and they work fine now that I have learned how to use them.
The 2.4's are super easy for me and I still like them the most,
Logic would say offer a 2.4 cart with the PERSEI box so the new customer can learn the device without so much difficulty.

If it wasn't for you guiding me I would have moved on.

Thanks "OF".

Very Good Advice!
I never "PRE-OXIDIZE"!

You're very welcome. Glad the good word is getting out, please continue to pass it on? I share your concern, we don't want the new guys giving up, this is too good to keep secret.

My 'take' is the Persei is intended for experienced users looking for more power (go figure). Originally buyers already had Omicrons and plenty of experience with 2.4s and 1.5s and wanted more. The Internet changes that as guys seek to skip over learning and get right to the really fun stuff. They want to 'buy bigger clouds' rather than waste their time messing with 'substandard' gear. Part of everyone being special no doubt. Do you know anyone who thinks they're a below average driver? I don't either.

Anyway, spot on, Bro! Keep passing the good word, there's a parade of new guys coming along and they'll do better knowing what we do as soon as possible.

Thanks.

so loving everything about my toys so far except the hammer. that shit stick will be put up until i get a bender i guess. replacing my torch with that was a pipe dream that will never materialize. we can chalk it up to user error for sake of avoiding arguments.

so last night i was out with the fellas and showing em the persei... of course everyone wants to try it out... i give my little tutorial on how to use it and hand it off. not 5 minutes later, i get it back clogged up. there was oil all up in the metal tip. i clean it all up and very gently push a needle down that middle hole of the cart until it bottoms out. pulled the needle out, put the clean mouthpiece on and it was back to normal. everyone now knew how easy it was to fuck up... so i thought... another 5 minutes goes by and it's fucking clogged again the same way. cleaned it up again and now it will touch nobodies lips but mine. moral of the story. people are idiots and will fuck your shit up. my persei is riding solo for now on!

Welcome to the fun of sharing! It beats a friend knocking over an expensive bong and never getting payment...

Do you have the 750* or 1200* hammer? I wasn't impressed myself while using the 750* for oil but the 1200* gets the job done. I wouldn't say it replaces a torch in normal situations but it does a good job when you run out of fuel after store hours. I also find it to give a tastier hit since its not as hot as a torched nail preserving terpenes.

Here is front and back photos of the three generations of tops. If yours looks like the one on the left side in either photo you should follow the instructions in the post you quoted.

i got the 1200* one i believe. i got the one that comes with the top that has the button you don't have to hold down. i hear you on the taste, but when i personally am at the rig, i'm looking to drop bhombs and the hammer just can't do it how i want. (perhaps there is a technique for this i haven't mastered) hopefully i never get in the situation where i got no gas for my torch. tend to keep a case or two of tane in the closet anymore. plus now i only bust the torch out on the weekends instead of multiple times everyday. persei has replaced the rig during the week and replaced having to burn up flower when out and about but when i'm ready to get a one hit blast, rig and torch always got my back.

i'm still puffin on a single 2.4ohmer so who knows, maybe the rig can be phased out completely when i finally get around to double 5ohmers... but for now, 2.4 is kicking ass and taking names! haven't burnt up any flower since i've got this thing and that alone is fucking awesome. i'm loving this vapor only lifestyle!
