Discontinued Inhalater XP

Units produced up to this week were calibrated too hot. We reduced significantly without detriment to cloud production.
Thanks for effort in trying the DIY repair. We will send new unit over. Will arrange return with an included envelope.

Very right, it is better trying to lubricate the potentiometer while leaving it in place. If attempting switch DIY Please see new video

Mine was purchased by Kush Paradish directly from you on monday. Would this be one of the bad units? If so, is there anything we can do about it?

I dont think the device will reach combustion on 9 (or 8 if thats your max). I've finished off the capsule I was vaping with a few nice hits on 9 on more than one occasion. I've never experienced combustion. I'm not sure if combustion can be reached with improper usage of the device.

Greg: It's Thomas, hope you see this. After about a day of charging the device by taping the cable down, the micro usb port is rattling around inside and won't charge. I don't really want to call again and take up your time since we already spoke. Thanks for taking care of us.

Wow! I've been away for a few days and am surprised with all the problems.
I'll knock on "wood" as mine is about 4 weeks old now and not a single problem.
I'd say I've had about 25-30 sessions with it and have charged it about 3 maybe 4 times.
My sessions are always pretty long as I reach auto shutoff and have to turn it back on for another
few minutes/hits. I do pack the capsule full.

My only complaint is that it is a little hot and dry on the throat.
Now add a .49 cent mini bubbler and it magically transforms to cool, moist vapor.
It fits just perfect with a piece of shrink tubing on the mouthpiece stem.
Sorry to all that are having problems, hang in there, Inhalater will take care of you.

Ohh yeah that bubbler I forgot all about that. Anyone have a link to it saved so I don't have to scan through 50 pages? I'm gonna buy one :p

Do you mean heat shrink tubing? And if so, do you leave it attached to the capsule since the heat shrink tubing doesn't come off without cutting it? Sorry if this is obvious, I'm new to this kind of stuff.

Shmoo,
I contacted planetvape yesterday about the shipment of XPs they were expecting yesterday, and they told me that this shipment is now expected to be recieved on friday. These are the vapes going to those who preordered but haven't recieved their vapes yet.

Have you tried using it with the extension tubes that come with it? It makes it much cooler and easier on the throat.

Yep, heat shrink tubing and I just keep it stuck right on the stem whether I'm using the bubbler or not. It's very thin walled so you really can't tell it's even on there.
Picked it up at the Home Depot. It's 1/4" and made by Raychem.
It's what the Flashvape uses on their glass stems, that's where I got the idea from.
I did try the heat shrink that came with my Flashvape but it was a little loose, on the fit on the bubbler.
So the heat shrink I picked up must have a slightly thicker wall.

Units produced up to this week were calibrated too hot. We reduced significantly without detriment to cloud production.

i definitely got one of these units. im getting good clouds, but it can be uncomfortable w/out water. should i assume it needs to be replaced? or will i still get the same heat with a different calibration, but say on 4 or 5 instead of 1 or 2...?

Yes I have and it does help a little for me.
But when I can, I love to plug on the little bubbler!
I've also noticed that with the bubbler the temp doesn't vary as much. (solid light, no flashing)
I have a solid green light with no flashing for many hits.

My thought while I was watching this was I wonder if contact cleaner would be a better fix?
Then he mentioned it was what the prop lube can really was.
So why would "lube" be a fix for the faulty, dirty contacts on the switch and not contact cleaner.
Contact cleaner also evaporates off very quickly and leaves no residue behind.
It's also safe on plastics! Beware of what kind of "lube" you're spraying in there fellow FC's
I'd also really like some detailed maintenance/cleaning instructions.
Can I get the screen out of the heating chamber to clean?

Ohhh okay I was confused about how you actually used it. Makes a lot of sense now. Thanks!

I used the shrink wrap from my FV but I double wrapped the bubbler end. Worked like a champ!

Combustion happens only after a long pyrolisis temperature plateau; it is unlikely to happen even on hot units.

Essentials oil are vaporised at a relatively low temperatures. Past a certain temperature point, pyrolisis of plant material starts occuring. This will happen on a fairly large temperature gap (+/- 30 degrees Celsius). Only after this point, plant material will auto ignite into combustion. Pyrolisis point varies from substrate to substrate. This phenomenon is particularly obvious with sensitive substrate like tobaccos.

Pyrolisis is related to hashness and throat irritation. It also has it's own effects which may be sougth after. In some opinions, vaporizing around pyrolisis temperature point reduces the health benefits of vaporization.

The switch problem is not related to dirtyness. Metal constituing the switch appears to deform, restraining proper contact for electricity flow. Component manufacturer will produce a custom unit to Inhalater specifications for next production batch.

We are presently working on PV order. We expect to be shipping it over early next week. Many thanks for your patience. On these units , switch will be greased instead of oiled in hope of perfect operation. These will be the last units of this electronic batch.

The fact that you are active in this forum and communicative, is the reason I kept my order (for good or bad). Wish more MFG's followed your example. Thank you.

What about the shipment PV is to receive tomorrow? Are those calibrated too hot or are those the corrected shipment?

I asked basically the same question and got the following response (up above): "Units from the current batch." Since I really didn't know if this statement was left or right, I cancelled my order.

My take is that PV will not be receiving their new XP shipment until next week.

Edit: Confirmed as I just read email from PV regarding an order that includes a stormtrooper XP "We were informed today by Inhalater that the XPs will be a few more days before they are ready, calibrated and tested. They will start shipping next week.Kind regards,PV"

I had the same heat problem at first. What I found was packing the load down helps to slow the draw which gives you less heat. I will suck up a whole capsule full and then pack it down to half or so.

^ Yep

If you really want to honk on it, fill your capsule up, pack it down, fill it again, pack it down.. Basically just stuff that sucker with weed.. Man I've put a blunt worth into my capsule before and was blowing unbelievable clouds..over and over and over.

I tried this last night and it made a HUGE difference. I've been filling loosely, about 1/3 of the way full. It works fine, but loses temp quickly and I have to slow my draw (set on 5). With the capsule completely full and packed "medium" tight it produced extremely dense vapor and had me choking!

Hi kelper and zephyron,
Inhalater posted yesterday "Units produced up to this week were calibrated too hot. We reduced significantly without detriment to cloud production." Since our shipment is currently in production they will be properly calibrated as well as having the on/off potentiometer problem addressed.

Awaiting my XP montreal which is on the opposite side of the continent for me. Does anyone have any idea on how long it usually takes to reach Cali? Tracking estimates 4-10 days
