Arizer Solo

Can I try and confirm something please?
I'm three days in to my first real dry spell since I started vaping about 3months or so ago. Anyone else here that also owns an eq confirm that the solo makes revaping abv in such a situation a viable option, where as the eq makes abv revape taste like ass?

I'm sorry, but I have to ask. How do you know what ass tastes like.

It always bothered me how the Solo is designed to force you to hold it's buttons for long periods (2 seconds), it might not sound like much, but you need to hold the buttons 2 seconds to start it, then it takes 2 seconds to boot up before you can input your next command, then you need to hold down for 2 seconds (or press up several times) to set your temperature.

Doesn't sound like much? Well I've got shocking news for you. Assuming you use your Solo 10 cycles a day, that adds up to over 6 hours of waiting after your Solo and holding its buttons every year!

Do you really have 6 hours to waste holding buttons? That's why I'm selling my Solo and getting an Inhalater.

Just kidding... I'm getting an inhalater because of the larger capacity (I have high tolerance so the tiny Solo loads are a bit too small for me), but it does get annoying having to wait after the Solo's computer 6 seconds per boot up, almost any other vape can be turned on with the flick of a switch or turn of a knob. I really wish you could press a single button on the Solo when it's off that would both turn it on and return to your last used temp, if that's one of the software updates they did then it already would be so much more user friendly and save frequent users over 6 hours a year.

Thanks

PVHES is fan-bloody-tastic.
Do any of those custom stems offer a larger herb capacity? That would be AWESOME, I'm selling my Solo because of it's ridiculously tiny loads, unless someone made a stem with a larger capacity I might consider keeping it.

Thanks but I was hoping to know what the actual changes are. There are many things that bug with with the software, also I heard that some have a heating element made of a different material? Mine is matte black inside and I think is ceramic. What difference does SS make?

Can anyone tell me the actual differences between the different Solo models including what was changed in the software?

Thanks

Well unless they work for Arizer, I doubt your going to find anyone who has all of the versions and has done a totally detailed breakdown of how they differ. Arizer says that these numbers aren't even the model numbers but instead correspond to the production runs that they did. It's not really a cut and dry situation with the versioning of these vaporizers. You'll get a different answer from everyone depending on the version they have used.

However, this is the situation to my knowledge.

M101 - Don't know if this actually exists. If it does it was probably a preproduction run for partners

M102 - First known production run, ceramic crucible, and what we will call v1 of the software

M103 - Slightly better battery life, unit is noticeably lighter than M102. No noticeable change in performance

M105 - Introduced a model with a stainless steel crucible. Ceramic models still produced. Both models have a new PTFE retention ring on them. New firmware which has the effect of lowering the run temperatures about ten degrees and getting rid of the heat light skipping bug.

M106 - Stainless models only. Another new firmware which returns the temperature scale to normal but still fixes the light issue

M107 - No change

M1D - New software which alters the battery capacity reporting algorithm, owners notice batter looses levels faster.

Thanks, sounds like I have the M102.

What is "PTFE retention right on them"?

And what real world difference does a ceramic VS SS model change for the user?

Thanks

Oops, meant to type 'ring'

You've got a ring on the top of your heating element on the M102 as well I'm pretty sure, they just changed the inner diameter a bit for later versions.

With a stainless bowl the temperatures are about 5 degrees lower (centigrade) than the temperatures of the ceramic ones. They only switched because people were shitting chickens over their ceramic bowls chipping and breaking, which wasn't even that big of a deal.

This may sound like a stupid question but if these things use software why can't they be updated via the net like a gps?

There's simply not an interface to allow this. Arizer doesn't mean for the code to be tweaked accept by them. They likely take steps to prevent this, either encryption, a proprietary interface or something else of that nature.

Currently Hippie Dickie is working on a vaporizer where the firmware can be updated, which is pretty exciting for geeky vapor-enthusiasts.

Like x24 said, theres a couple of reasons for it. The first is that Arizer probably views the software on the vaporizer to be a trade secret and takes steps to prevent those of us with a background in electronics to reverse engineer it. If we knew the chip that the board on the arizer was using; there is a good chance that we would be able to connect our own programmers to dump the memory of that chip for analysis. But they scratch off all of the information that we need from the chips to prevent that.

To allow the programming of the chip to be changed, Arizer would need to have the microchip hooked up to an external interface like USB so that it could be plugged into a computer to be reprogrammed. This brings about several issues, the first being that any issues during the firmware upgrade would leave a customer with a bricked unit, and the other is that Arizer would have to actually send us the code which they have gone to such great lengths to protect already. For them it's a lose/lose situation. They aren't making any money upgrading previously sold devices.

Even with device like the INH and Puffit that have USB ports it's more than likely that the middle two wires of the port are not even wired to anything and that only the two outer power wires are used.

Your power up issue tells me that your using a model older than the 104 - my M102 (ceramic)has the same wait time that you talk about, you can bypass the waiting period after the unit is powered by actually setting the temp rather than just hold the down key for 2 seconds to return to the previous setting. Alternatively my M107 (SS)does not have that issue. To answer your first question about the differences - IMO (alot may disagree) again - IMO - the only difference I notice is heat up time.

I just ordered an inhalator as well, looks like a solid unit - I've never really had much of an issue with the load size (giggity)in the solo, its such an easy unit to drop your load (giggity) and refill that's its really never bothered me. The Davinci is another great unit to look into - it can accommodate any medical need as far as its capacity, loading and unloading prove a little challenging in the beginning but overall a really great vaporizer and super portable. But this is a solo thread - just saying, check it out.

going back to my m102....

Good luck.

Yeah, I was just gonna say that I've never had to hold down the buttons for 2 seconds to turn on or change the temp on my solo, which is an M107. It makes sense that it's a problem with older models.

:lmao:

I was showing my solo to a friend and she was super stoked on the size of the unit (giggity). When she asked how to use it, I told her to suck hard (giggity).

Be careful of pre-mature evaporization, it'll get ya every-time:ko:

No atm they only offer shorty stems which have slightly smaller capacity than stock.

Yeah, 1 gr usually does it for me too in the Solo... I try to keep at these levels so my crops last until the next ones! Sonics, while there is no bag attachment, there is something even better, a vapor lung. Do a search on vapor lung or vaporlung in this thread and it might change all your vaping habits, it did for me! ;)

That's good news that they fixed the annoying 6 second process to turn it on each time, so how do you turn on the new models (giggity)? And then how do you get these model's heat up?

On my model (M102 it seems) I need to hold down both its buttons at the same time for 2 seconds to turn it on, then it will boot up and show the battery level on the LEDs which takes another 2 seconds, and then I can hold down for 2 seconds to restore my last temperature or I can press up multiple times.

What's the process on the new ones?

Thanks

the same here... M1A. But i figure if I have time to read that and type this, then I got 6 seconds to spare...

Anywho... I think you have to hold the buttons to avoid accidentally turning the unit on. Good idea in my book. I think I read a couple of people had their INH turn on in their pocket accidentally, but I think they have since tightened up that knob. Looks like a cool unit all the same and I am sure you will enjoy it.

I am such a lightweight I guess. I can have 3 sessions off of a single stem. Everybody has different needs. I am just glad we all have options. This market is blowing up!

So I am getting ready to buy the Arizer Solo (I have an Extreme Q that I absolutely love). I have had a MFLB for 2 years and honestly, I am over it. I hate how uneven the vaporizing is of the bud and its so easy to charr it.

THat said, I have 2 questions about purchasing the Solo: First off, I read that you have to pay the $229 retail price that Arizer wants or it will not be covered under the warranty? Is that true. If so, I saw people posting about buying from Puffitup for $160 and that they handle everything for you (you send the unit to them and not arizer). Is this true?

Also, I will want a carrying case for this. Is there anything cheaper than the $40 vape case you see everywhere? I think I saw someone post about a $15 case or something, but I cannot see anything when looking back through the pages. I see that Puffitup has the vape case plus the Solo for $190. Is that about as good a deal as I will get for both?

Also, what accessories/attachments do you think I will want the most that does not come standard with the Solo? Just for reference, my Extreme Q I only use the whip on it that came with it, nothing else, so I do not need all the bells and whistles. Thanks a bunch!

The $190.00 Puffitup deal is I deed the best there is. For fifteen dollars I use a Ryot Piper padded soft case. It holds the unit, the charger, and at least four stems. You might want to get an Ed's TnT wood sten, of from planetvape.ca some of their PVHES high energy stems. They also have 14 and 18mm GonG adapters for water pipe usage. All were in stock last I looked. That's about all you need unless you want a pass through ir car charger. I have neither and don't miss them.

I bought mine from PuffItUp. Randy's customer service was incredible, and I got mine within a week with international shipping. The grinder they included was better than I expected. They are an authorized dealer and I'm confident if I ever need warranty service that Randy will help me out.

$160 is a good price. I've seen it as low as $130. YMMV, but some shops may price match to $150.
I don't see the need for a case. The only part I worry about breaking is the glass, and I carry mine in polycarb tubes. The Solo itself seems rock solid and I've dropped mine a few times with nary a scratch.

If you just want to direct draw you won't need any extras, though I can recommend the power adapter ($35 at Planetvape with FCLOVE10 discount) for home use and to preserve your battery, any PVHES stems if you find the Solo difficult to draw from (stock stems DO work) and finally the PV GonG stem. The Solo + water pipe = vapor heaven.
