Because of the way, current runs thru the screen (each little strand of the screen, is a conductor) the more surface area of herb making contact, plus the even grind allows for even airflow throughout the rest of the trench. Basically setting the MFLB up, for the perfect trench, every time.
I grind with a coffee grinder also, and agree with BDV on this. But I also think you get a better hit out of the MFLB by not packing it too much, I purposely only half pack it and in tests. Have done, IE, packed it half, packed it full ,packed in one third, find that by packing it a third or half I get a better hit, I think it's because of the airflow AND the small grind.

Yes! More people are getting it now!

I know it feels so wrong to let it get that dry... my combusting friends would cringe if they took a look at my stash, it's too powdery to handle with ease and dry enough to make them cough if they look too long... but at the end of the week they're looking for another bag and I'm still sitting on the same pickup from the week before ;)

Anyways, for some odd reason this Jack Herrer didn't want to get any finer in my coffee grinder... very vexxing, however I put it in my Sharp Stone upside down for a good minute or two and got it down really fine considering it's a grinder. Might try going back to it next time I get anything new just to switch things up.

Oh, and if you can manage to get your stuff down fine enough to go through the screen... well, you're something else, let's just say...

Does anyone have suggestions as to what to use as a battery cover for the additional batteries I've purchased? Thanks.

I use two and four cell cases. You can also get one dram glass vials that will fit in with the batteries, handy to have together.

The tops from 'Chap Stick' and similar products also fit quite well.

I love how everyone here is so knowledgeable and helpful, and people always seem eager to help out the new guy. Great community. Much better than other web forums I'm a member of. Peace and love everybody. Stay lifted.

Edit to add to conversation: I bought a 4 pack of the Powerex 2700 mAHs and they came with a plastic carry case for 4 batteries, which is perfect since I split the pack with my friend and he let me keep the case. Now I have 2 Low Self Discharge batteries rated at 2400 mAH (from manufacturer) and 2 High Self Discharge batteries rated at 2700 mAH. I keep the LSD batteries charged and in the case and I top those off about once a week. I make sure to always top off the Powerex batteries before I go out and they always work great. I, like another poster, wrote a "+" on the right side and a "-" on the left side of the case so that the battery points to whether is is new and has not been used, or if it has been used. I also numbered the batteries to make sure I always can keep track of them and know when to replace them if they start dying down. With this system, I always have charged batteries and am always ready to use the launch box. Later today I will post my custom made MFLB case and my camera carrying pouch for it and the little accessories. I think you all will like it.

Edit: I took the pictures but I'm working now and I tend to get too distracted, so I'm trying to stay focused. Will post once I get a few hours in today.

Finally caved in earlier in the week and added a little bit of flair to my box... I wanted something simple and low-key that made my box different. I like minimalism and looking "clean" and this is all that came out.

Wow, that looks terrific. I'm the same way when it comes to something like this, so I definitely love this design. I was thinking about maybe making a decorative type snap on top that goes over the clear lid to prevent prying eyes from looking in and to help the "unknown object" stealth stuff, but made in a way so that I can just take it off when I want to use the box and see my vapor.

Thanks to everyone for the battery advice.
Sure thing! And I thought I'd add that I don't notice a huge difference between the stock batteries and the Powerex 2700 mAH except the box gets hot a little bit faster. It doesn't seem to make that big of a difference with my vapor output but that must be due to my method of just letting it build up and heat up for 7-9 seconds, then taking one big quick draw, follower by a slow long draw. I like the idea of having some of both types of batteries because you have some that are a little more powerful, and then you have some that last longer off the charger. Best wishes, enjoy your Launch Box.

Although I want to buy the finishing grinder but I cannot justify paying 40 dollars for a BETA product.... any feedback on it?

I ordered one this weekend. I'll report back after I have had a chance to use it.

Vicki,
My MFLB has been seeing a lot more use. It's been a little neglected as of late, but I just put it back into my rotation for mid-day top ups. I think my tolerance has gotten too high for me to use the MFLB as my DD, but it sure is great for maintenance.

I know that one well. Sometimes I carry and extra trench or two, but I find it's kind of self defeating when my tolerance gets high enough that the first one doesn't do it.

I too, keep coming back. It's a neat machine in so many fun ways.

I don't think Magic Flight would introduce something on this thread that they thought would generate negative feedback. And with the lifetime warranty there's not a lot to lose.
SO I'm eager to hear what you have to say about this grinder because I'm about ready to pull the trigger myself.

i also find my tolerance is a bit high to use my MFLB as my daily driver. However, if i go about a month or so without using my LB on the regular and use it again, WHOA, this thing makes me take flight! sometimes this happens when i haven't used it in a few weeks and i take it for a portable type of situation and i get a little more vaked than i planned :ko: but hey i'm not complaining.

i have a feeling its probably connected to something i learned in my Drugs & Behavior course in college, a type of behavioral pattern 'tolerance.' my professor actually used this example concerning cannabis,

if you smoke out of your 'bong' everyday on the couch in your living room you'll get high but get 'used to' getting high on your couch in your living. although, if you go smoke your 'bong' in your room, you might get higher because its a different environment and a change in behavioral pattern. this is why although you normally get a certain level high off of a joint in your house you get much more high when you smoke a joint at your buddies.

(this psych prof. was truly an entertaining character with hilarious examples such as this )

so sometimes maybe it's not your MJ tolerance is getting too high but you're just getting too used to the same behavioral patterns. this is why i like to take periods to cycle between my UD and my MFLB as well as different ways to use them such as native with the MFLB, with the stem, or with a water pipe, etc. and same with my UD. i find that it does make a bit of difference from time to time.

I agree. Magic Flight is a good company!

I'm really anxious to try this new grinder. :)

Feedback and reviews have been topnotch over the product and the company. it is just the fact that it says BETA and 40 dollars which is driving me nuts

I admit, it is pricey, but I don't believe beta means it's bad. It does have a lifetime warranty, so I'm not worried about that. :)

Are those batteries really that much better that the stock batteries? I have had my box for about 9 months now and have had no problems with my stock MF batteries. I have always used a fresh batterie with a just about full trench and have been very happy with how it has worked.

They don't last as long but I personally felt that the mAh difference was noticeable and delivered hotter hits.
