Duct tape wouldnt be cool at all!

I would think you would need a tubing with a 3/8" ID which would slide over the brass and just up to the wood. Not sure what size the UD heatport is though. Maybe these wont work for the UD, I am sure someone out there has to have tried to make this happen. Is there anyone out there?

Ed, really interested in a Granadillo stem for a new solo I just ordered. Any ideas how soon more will be in stock? They look sweet man. Can't wait.

Hello MP, I hope to have some ready in a week or so. Thought I would have em by now but has been really busy round here with other wood taking precedent. I have begun spinning them and just have to install the pin but need to get one last piece of tooling to be able to finish the install of it. I appreciate your interest in my work and encourage you to hang in there with me just a little longer. Heres what I have been working on.

Those are all Granadillo matter of fact. The figured and tones are so diverse its fun turning them. Each piece is so unique and different, no one piece is ever the same!

Also should have the shorties spun for the Solo Dugouts this week too!

do they fit snug around the brass? in that case it wouldn't fit the UD, the 2 kinds of silicone tube I have, both fit around the UD heatport but one is thicker and so has a bigger outer diameter(and isn't stretchable)
both do fit around the brass, but leave a lot of air in between the bras and the silicone. so it lacks both an airtight seal, and rigidity/staying together. at the same time, the silicone part also can't be permanently glued to the wood, since the screen goes in domed, and can only come out trough the mouthend.
something that I think could work is a small silicone sleeve for the brass part, from a silicon tube with an inner diameter that fits around the brass(and makes a seal) and and outer diameter that fits inside the silicon tube for the bowl and makes a seal with that. but I don't know if such a size silicon tube exists.

So what do you all think of this?

The cord is used to close it when not in use and when in use you open it and slide it up!

Ed...my steel bowl is pretty loose now whereas before it was not a problem. what did you land on for the best fix...was it the paper shim or something else?

I have since started inserting a SS pin just through one side of the bushing and into the wood for a tight fit. This new technique should never allow for separation. Have you used the paper shim method?

no...i haven't tried anything because it was still staying on pretty well. The other day, however, it was pretty loose and feels like it will just fall off it it is held bowl down.

and i like the functionality of your cover! it still doesn't work for me with the bits getting in the cloth, but I really like the design.

Try wrapping a narrow piece of paper round the wooden shaft then jam it in, should work!

The paper shim did wonders for me. Honestly mine is so tight now that I couldnt pull them apart if I wanted.

Samsies. It took some regular use for it to become that way though. I still took it off and replaced it with the shim several times before it fused together haha. Now it's very very solid.

Yeah pretty much the harder it is to squeeze the SS part and the wood back together with the shim the tighter its gonna hold. I kinda had to hold the wood stem and hammer the 2 together on a hard surface to fit them together. Careful though.

Hello everyone, thanks for the input Nic & Keegan I do appreciate your words!

Sicks I hope you have tried the paper and have had good results.

Choism, I thank you for hanging in there with me, spent the last few days filling up the box of Solo Stems, now they are off to have the SS pin installed.

Should have the Solo stems finished and will have all four of the species back in stock but in few quantities by middle of next week. Thing is most of the Granadillo are going to a couple of stores so they will be available elsewhere but only in the Granadillo. I will be selling the exotics myself! I am gonna have more SS bushings made so I can get a bunch of these back in stock as quick as I can. Do know that I am working as hard as I can to keep all the wood going here at Ed's TnT, if you have any questions pls ask them!

Just had a great review of my dugouts if anyone is interested here - http://gizmodo.com/lightning-review/

Good day everyone, just want to let everyone know that Solo stems are back in stock! Have only a few of the exotics of each species so better get em while you can! Mostly all Granadillo but all very nice! These pieces will not be coming with the internal retaining clip, with the SS pin installed it makes pushing through with the ram rod impossible. 1/2" screens are still installed within the pieces and are seated nice and tight, I am unable to remove them by blowing through them or shaking em out. Extra screens are added to every order so you will have a few if needed.

I appreciate everyone hanging in there with me to get these done. I hope all is well out there and wish you all the best!

Thanks for the notice Ed. Just ordered a cocobolo stem with accessories. Just to be clear - we really aren't supposed to use the Ass Butter on our wives?
