After my solo is done charging and I unplug it, the blue idle light stays on and I have to power it off myself, Is this normal?

Mine doesn't do that ,
All lights turn off when I un-plug .
I have the M107 .

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the welcome, so is adding a small round mesh "filter" necessary w/ the new model or only recommended? Do you guys normally pack it full (.1-.2 grams?) for a 12 min session.

Mine sometimes does that too, I wouldn't worry, just switch it off. I found a quick press on both buttons at the same time works well for shutting it off, rather than holding them down. I used to hold them down, until I started having the unit power back on, from holding them down too long.

Recommended only ,
But very recommended .
It will prevent herb/grind from flowing up the stem when you inhale .
Plus easier to clean , I prefer extra fine screens .
I happen to have extra NO2 screens that I use , and they work perfect .
Some others have suggested .5 inch extra fine screens works very well also .

The load qty is personal preference , I believe , within limits of course .
I like to pack mine in tight so if you do hold it vertical , no herbs fall out .
But most people load their stems upwards , while holding the Solo upside down .
You'll find your own preference in temp. and load size per session(s) .

I too have decided I need a portable/semi portable vape in my collection.. I choose you Mr Hans Solo. Perhaps I'll name my EQ Chewwi(i'm not even a starwars fanboy!)
I too like to be well versed on a new product before it arrives soooo since when I got my EQ I continued until I'd read every damned page of that thread. Guess I gotta do the same for this one... I'm up to the bit in the story just after many users were reporting the whole ceramic peelage. I hope this story gets better as it goes along as mine should be here mon/tues its a M107 though. Participating in a Tbreak also until the little f@*ker gets here! And as only a 6 week old vaporist I must state that tbreaking from vapor, for me at least comes with absolutely no withdrawal symptoms at all.. none whatsoever! With smoking I always got cranky, found it hard to sleep and loss of appitite. Sorry.. so off topic sorry.

I recently did some experimenting with mu Solo vape:

1) the straight whip fits perfectly in place of my downstem on my OLD bong from high school. I leave the downstem in place and just pack it like a regular bowl. Then I put the solo on top and vape. I remote the solo from the whip in place of an actual carb. It allows for a rush as well as allows the weed to cool off a bit so it lasts a bit longer.

2) I took my old asthma nebulizer and attached an airline between the solo and that and took the reservoir bag off a non rebreather oxygen mask. Basically it draws the vapor into the machine Nd shoots it out to fill the bad. Still working out a few kinks:

The Arizer Solo w/ the 7th Floor LLC "Fatty Vapor Tamer"

I still have not gotten the Fatty. I have an older, smaller, discontinueed glycerine tube which is SO SMOOTH with the Solo. It is amazing. Thanks for reminding me - think I'll freeze it up now.

It is very portable. I use mine lften now while riding a motorcycle - put it in breast pocket, pull unit to mouth to use. Works like a charm. I never use my MFLB. I haven't used the Iolites for a couple months now. But the Solo is IMHO extremely portable. As for stealth, I guess I'd have to ask a cop what is stealthy...
Criticisms accepted. I am by no means recommending this but merely suggest that it establishes (to me anyway) portability. If that's not portable, what is?

Hello all,

Today I have officially joined the Solo club, just got mine in the mail and it's charging up as I type haha. I have been reading this forum for a while and I feel pretty well educated on the Solo, but when I got mine I was thrown for a loop. I know the different models for Solo (M104.M105,M106,M107,M1D, and whatever other versions), but my serial number goes M1A. Did I miss something in the forums, or is this a new version or just the same M1D with a different serial number. I'm sure there probably isn't any performance difference, I'm just curious if any others also have this M1A model. I can't wait to pack this with herb and see what all the hype is about!

My theory is that Arizer was so sick of people saying "I got a 106 but 107s are being delivered elsewhere" complaints from people who obsessed not about the unit but the run code, that Arizer invented some new system intentionally difficult and confusing to avoid such complaints. You bought a Solo, not a number :) and given posts on all model numbers in this forum I think you will be very happy regardless of a run number. Also, consider using screens with it.

The viable portability of vapes as so many things in the world is such a subjective thing. I dont think I'll have a problem considering it a porty. I cannot wait to be able to go swimming and half way through pop to the lockers and have a sneaky stem.

I tried my buddies solo and I didnt really like the air tight feel of the suction. I could not tell if I was even inhaling until I exhaled.

Probably the most common initial reaction and criticism. That said, did it do what you expected?

Finally got my 14mm-18mm adapter...many thanks PV for the Doritos and extra screens!!! awesome job
I only tested it once because I moved an apartment but I can't wait to try it again with the HT
I will have to give it few more goes...I think I like the rude boy setup a bit more but the HT is a freaking beauty... !!!

So far as I know, the car adapter is just a charger. No ac passthrough there.
I have the ac adapter, and have not used it since I got it.

I get 6-8 stems (which take me 12 mins pretty much every time) per charge, which suits my needs perfectly.

I've also got a 2nd solo though, so if my batt dies I've always got another one ready to go.

Some others here have the ac adapter and love it, but for me I just can't find a use for it that is more convinient than my current usage patterns.

If it was my 1 and only vape I could see the ac adapter being a fair bit more handy.

A bit late perhaps, I almost never check this thread anymore, but don't you have a VV PSU Fred?

If so you can just make a cord with a Solo plug on it, set the PSU on 8,5V and voila, you have yourself a pass through thingie if you ever find a need for one

edit: Crap, I forgot something important when I suggested this, pls read on in my next post before anyone gives this a try.

Have you tried this? I thought I remember all the home brewed power solutions people in this thread had tried either failed or the unit ended up croaking... I've read this whole thread and wrote a bunch of the wiki article and this isn't ringing any bells at the moment.

I do remember WatTyler had a few experiments that failed back then, but I'm not sure what exactly he was using at the time or what voltage he was trying.

But yes, I've used my Solo with the regulated variable voltage PSU in my signature (click 'temp control' for a photo) many times that way & it works perfectly. I just wish they'd programed the Solo so the 12min timer would shut off when you have it connected to a continuous power source.

edit: btw, I can see my Solo draw well over two Amps when it starts heating, so perhaps people couldn't get it to work because their PSU wasn't heavy enough? Mine is a beast & can go quite a bit higher then that. You'll need something that can safely put out 3A to pull this off so perhaps my tip to Fred wasn't such a smart one after all :uhoh:

Sorry about that Fred, I didn't think it through well enough.

end of edit.

I must add that I didn't have this PSU yet when I was actively posting in this thread throughout the second half of 2011 (rough guesstimate on the time frame), so you couldn't have read about it before probably. I didn't buy it until I got really into log vapes. I did post about trying one of those cheap Sony PSP chargers from ebay back then, & mine worked just fine but I stopped using it and eventually trashed it after two other members posted theirs had melted & one killed a Solo in the process.

I have sensitive lungs, and without a screen I can literally feel the debris entering my lungs, causing coughing sessions which is bad. The only way I would not use a screen is if I were feeding the Solo through some water to filter it. As for the amount, start with a 1/2 load, see if that works. I personally use a full, sometimes even packed load at a slightly higher temp (5) and within 12 minutes or so it's done and occassionally I am too.

I don't mind powering it off manually after unplugging, it just seems kind of wierd. Could it be some kind of software glitch? It's a new M1D.
