I don't recall seeing anything posted in this thread about off gassing and I have never experienced that with my Pax.

Whats up guys
just joined so because i want to order one of these babies today
and i knew i could come to FC for any help/questions..
ive really been wanting to stop smoking and begin vaping only.
i havent vaped in about a year, but when i used to i used a volcano and the high was amazing!
my only problem was that i needed something a lot more portable.
so i began looking at the solo and thermovape but after watching a few videos and reading some of the reviews on the Pax, I'm Sold!

my 1st question is if i order it now from vape world today, will i receive it tomorrow? and the overnight shipping is free, correct? because when i get to the shipping page there's a part that offers free 2-7 day shipping but the overnight shipping costs extra $. but i see that someone had said it automatically switches over?

my next question is about the signature when it is delivered. First off will they give me a tracking number so i will atleast know around what time it is supposed to be delivered? Because i work and i dont know who will be home to sign, and i still live with my family so and the only people who would be old enough to sign would be my mom or dad. i saw something about leaving a note? but im not sure how i would do this. I just want to get everything situated before i order. i cant get in contact with vapeworld right now and i am pretty anxious to get this thing. thanks in advance.

All you have to do is leave a note basically saying you give them permission to leave the package and then you have to sign it. Simple as that. Happy vaping :)

Or have it shipped to work. It is in a discrete box.

Dreamerr,
Finished my first two days with the PAX and i am loving it. I was normally a treat eater and for my first vape, this has been a great experience. I took the PAX to a friends house and it was passed around by some experts. After about 20 minutes the three of them were loving it.

Did a solo session last night and just a few minutes ago. I love being able to actually taste the material and am happy with the investment so far.

One question though. I put some flowers in a bit ago and had two long pulls on medium setting. I was dome for the night so. Opened the oven to do a check and clean up. Noticed that the flowers were mostly nrown with a little green. Is this normal toastmg procedures? Am guessing the tell would be if the taste changes intompopcorn th wold be tme to change. Thanks FC for the grea help

Yes that is due to the way the PAX heats up the material. It is a conduction vaporizer. Meaning it passes heat from the heating element to the plant material touching the heater. Then that plant material passes the heat to the material next to it and so forth. Since it is passing the heat along from point A to point D you will loose some of the heat along the way. That means plant material closer to the oven wall or point A will get more heat and be darker then the plant material in the center/top or point D. If you want to make sure things in the oven cook a little more evenly then just stir the load every few hits. That will help keep things more evenly distributed through the oven.

Can someone do some more research on this Mysterious vapor? Im going to get my unit in and i will check for it. If this is the issue with the plastic burning i will have to return it. Im not going to inhale plastic

I will do extensive testing on this when my new unit arrives as off-gassing has been the main fault of all my portable vapes(solo, no2, davinci).

Big, can you test the unit on medium only first. Run it 5-10 minutes a few times empty, check with an led flashlight in a dark room. If medium is good, that's all I need and would be fine.

I'm sure some others may have a similar concern about this while I understand it may not bother others.

again...there is no mysterious vapor with the pax...that was with the DaVinci.

I use MMJ for my asthma, allergies and pain, I admit that I may be overly sensitive to this but that's just me.

Have you done any testing? Did you put anything in it before? I hope your right tho sticks, I regret not running the unit more before filling it. I was sure I didn't see anything when i did my empty burn-in's. It may be the gold film from avb still on the oven after cleaning burning off, I am praying this is it! I love the PAX and feel I'm being blasphemous, but I just need to know for sure.

Well I just figured I'd try to get some info from people with new units who cared about this issue if it is present. Please disregard any post about off-gassing if you are not concerned about it, they are not meant for you.

I've found with my Puffit that the contents at the center of the oven also get browned very evenly over the session without stirring. I think it's because the air in the oven is also heating to close to the wall temp during warmup and over time all the contents will be vaped as the hot air passes over it. The edges go first but the heat in the chamber will cook it all like cookies in an oven. Puffit has a cylindrical oven maybe 3/4" deep. The oven in the Pax looks shallower and flatter than in the Puffit so stirring might be necessary.

I'll test my theory out when mine arrives, but I'll bet you don't have to stir it since you have a combination of conduction and convection vaping going on in the oven.

There is no issue. I did a test of mine before I ever ran it. I always check for any off gassing before I use any portable unit. The unit never produced any mysterious vapor. Before I used my unit I cleaned the oven and the vapor path with ISO and let it dry. Then I turned it on to red/high and let it set till it heated up. I kept poking it so it would not go in to cool down mode. After three minutes of watching for vapor and not seeing ANYTHING I felt like it satisfied my expectations. There really is not an off gassing issue... and from what I can tell not a single user has reported or seen it. We should be careful about calling it an issue because poeple tend to latch on it that term... and it is not fair to describe it as such since nothing has been seen by anyone yet.

Think he was referring to me(I also bought up the off-gassing issue in the davinci thread).

Hope you can still test the unit empty when you get it, I should have mine by Tue-Wed. I'm sure most people want something that is not harmful to your health, that's why we vape in the first place.

I believe I am the first to bring it up

This is very good news, I was unaware you had done these tests, not sure if you published them.

I am not saying there is a issue with the PAX.

When I said issue I meant the issue of off-gassing in portable vaporizers in general, which it clearly is, plastic+high heat+tight space=trouble. I have found that this issue is very objective among users. It took a while for it to surface in the Davinci thread from its release.I just want to start conversion so we can put it to bed.

I did not really mention the results here. I tend not to talk about the off gassing stuff unless I actually find something during my testing.

Yea i will definitely check mine when it arrives. Check it on medium? I think if anything i should check it on high and see if it happens. So when i check for it do i turn the lights off and place a flash light in front and open the chamber?

Test it to see if anything happens on medium first, then check high. Yah find a dark place with still air, you will see how to angle the light, away from you pointing at any rising vapor.
Kinda like I did with the davinci:
.

If you can't see anything then great, drop a lil herb in when it's hot, you should then see distinct vapor. Then we should have an answer.

I hope very much everything checks out. I am thinking the vapor I saw after cleaning was from the little bit of gold tint left on the oven walls from the resin.

Drastic,
Damn thats a lot of unknown vapor. Cool ill check it out when i get it and report back. Hopefully it ships out tomorrow and ill have it by tuesday. I hope everything is good.

Day two with mine and so far I love it!

Mine has gotten a little hard to drag though. I filled the bowl for the 3rd time this afternoon and it was hard to hit and I didn't get any nice clouds. I put It on high and same issue. It may just need cleaned. I will clean it tomorrow and pack a fresh bowl and report back.

Anyone else have these issues with hitting it? Maybe I am not doing it right. This was my third bowl with the Pax. Can some of you guys who have tried different methods give some advise?

Can you describe your 'hitting' technique? I am at work right now so I cant pack it up and try it but if I remember correctly yesterday it was real hard to draw, to the point where I had to stop because my mouth/neck were getting sore from trying to hit it so hard.

I'm going to clean it out and pack it up soon as I get home and see if that helps. But I don't think it should be real hard to hit and to get air moving through it.

How much have you been packing into the oven?

I've been using my pax for almost a week now but also had trouble getting consistent hits in the beginning. I was packing pretty tight bowls (around 0.4g) and found that pulling on it like a cigar (ala SliM) works well.

If I pack less (say, 0.25g-0.3g), then I find that I can use a long, slow, steady draw.

My technique also changes depending on the temperature. On medium, I tend to use a long draw; on high I usually take stacked cigar tokes (gives the vape a little time to cool in my mouth before I inhale).

Keep experimenting to see what works best for you!
