I second Lighthound, been using them a while now for batteries. I got a "dud" (it happens) last week in my order, they responded that day, and sent a replacement with a return shipping envelope to send the 'dud' back. Very top notch company.

I took the plunge and bought an Evo LV kit, as well as 2 extra batteries from Lighthound.

I will post a review when it arrives.

Thanks for your help with the batteries, OF!

Your quite welcome, glad the information is useful. Please do let us know how you like it, although based on history I think it's pretty easy to predict. Time to lay in a little tasty bud for the getting to know it part isn't it? Do you get bubble and kief where you are? That's a hint....

Good luck.

well i did it. just ordered an LV Dart kit (minus the kit).

hopefully it ships today... :smug:

cant wait. my Detonator/RoughStack is just not cutting it. i found that my problem with it and the Evo is the contact pin. it gets pushed in too far too easily. i can take the switch apart and fix it within a min or two, but what a PITA. heres to a unit designed to work with my new toys

Anything's possible, of course, but there are some difference past the 'feel' of it all. One specifies "Stainless Steel" as a color (?), I have a unit from the other guys right now, it's Chrome Brass not SS. Also one site has 4 models, the other 5. You'd think if it was two faces of the same guy, he'd at least say the same things?

The two contacts I had with the vendors a couple days ago could not have been more different. One was a clearly Anglo chap with strong literate skills and a text based response system, the other more ethnic by far, with a very 'computerish' format, mixed fonts that sort of stuff. If he's trying to put up two false faces, he's got me fooled at this point.

I hope to have a few from each vendor next week (one claims shipment today, the other promises later this week). If nothing else, the postmarks should tell the tale?

Will advise.

Time will indeed tell. I looked back at the email and it wasn't a suggestion of where else I might purchase the adaptor if I so wished, rather it was an instruction to place my order there to circumvent software issues. I can''t imagine being directed to a competitor. Who knows.... or really cares? lol. But I have noticed in my search for any available this side of the Atlantic that lots of the places that used to sell this adaptor no longer do- there were plenty in 2010. Definitely a niche within a niche market. Get 'em while you can, I reckon.

Tim? Can you throw in some bubble and kief for me? Thanks.

Didn't one of the 'quick and dirty e-cig vape guys' do exactly that for someone a while back? Sent him a THC cart as a 'thank you, sorry for the trouble' gift in the mail? That would wig me right out and I've got a card. For days I'd be expecting a knock at the door from guys in cheap suit and sun glasses standing in front of my postal carrier pointing and saying 'he's the guy'....

Gentlemen's wasn't it? That little 'slip up' alone is enough to make me very glad I don't do business with them.

OTOH, if Tim really wants to hand out bubble and all, I can save him some postage......

Gentlemen's sent me some of their regular e-cig stuff to me a while back.... which was indistinguishable from their medicated carts. I got some of their medicated carts as freebies too, but that came from a dispensary. Both had the same effect on me...... :|

Aw, come on Stu, level with the folks, only the newbies and teeny boppers base their decisions on what effects you how......those of us who know you better know you better.....

In college I had a bud that made a late night street buy 'on the avenue' (Telegraph in Berkeley). They got busted minutes later by the Blue Meanies. Spent a scary few hours in the cell reflecting on life while they tested, contacted the DA, had them measured for their prison uniform and so on. Then they got cut loose, they'd bought nearly a full ounce of dry parsley and bird seed (old story, lids use to have seeds you know....). He was a different guy after the adventure. In those days, simple possession was anything but simple....it changed guys lives over roaches.

I can say that starting with my own mod that was only kind of working, and getting the TV battery set up, worlds of difference. You should be very delighted.

As a hockey fan, I hope that you get your trusty new sidekick ASAP!! - might make those Stanley Cup playoff results easier to handle. Only kidding - after all look at what your Blues did to the Sharks. Enjoy the micro fest. Go Rangers!!!

Oh no!, USPS has decided to play games with my Evo + DART shipment! haha, this will be the second day it has sat in Tampa, FL and had the status updated without movement. I was looking forward to delivery today :( hah. I knew I should have stuck with the FedEx option hahaa, Oh well, hopefully a review after work tomorrow if it decides to show up, I know I can't really trust the USPS tracking especially this time (Showed that the shipping info was received a full day after moving around CA?)

So I got my AW 18350 700mah batteries from lighthound today, got one charged up, stuck it in the sabor mini, put the Evo-LV top on there, it fired up and got pretty hot, but I never could get any vapor even after running it hot for 20+ seconds. The mod seemed to handle the heat pretty well, but I couldn't get a hit even though it was hot enough around the heat core that I couldn't touch it. So that was just under the mark for having enough juice to work. I emptied the bowl, and watched it fire up, it never reached full glow. It does run the LV Dart like a champ though. So now it's down to, will the passthrough let the sabor mini run the Evo... it should be here in the next day or so. In the mean time, the regular TV batteries are working just fine.

**with what I just experienced trying this sabor mini on battery, I am guessing that the full size sabor w/ the right battery for the job would most likely work well. I did put an adapter in line as a heat spacer/buffer, so it would take longer for the cap of the mod to heat up. I'll know for sure when the PT gets here. I really hope the PT works, it would be nice to be able to use this vape with out juggling the batteries at home. I am glad I had the chance to get to know battery life, and what to expect so when I do use it out and about, I know where my limitations should be. I am also glad I can test this stuff out for those of you who are on the fence, or just curious about how it performs on different devices.

Read a review on the Apex Alpha Ultra, where the reviewer complained that there was an incredible amount of tarnish building up, creating problems with activating the switch. Anyone find any problems with the Evolution?

I have an original t1, and an ultramax res that use the same sleeve as the evo. Yes sometimes stuff does get in there, but it's super easy to take apart and clean in seconds. Silky smooth switch activation after a wipedown of the battery sleeve and inside of body. Works every time. As for true tarnish. I have a little tarnish happening, but it's not bad. Mine has lived in my pocket for the five months ive had it, constantly getting fondled by my oil soaked hands (auto tech), other than some slight discoloration it's holding up great.

It's actually user related as I understand it. Like some guys can't wear Silver without it getting tarnished while the next guy can. The plating on the parts is electroless Nickle. It's basically a thin and fairly uniform coating of atomically pure Nickle in random (non crystalline) form. Very tough and fairly inert until skin oils with acidic traits (I'm told) sits too long on the surface. Mild acids, like vinegar, should strip it off. It's called 'desumtting' or something like that as I recall?

In extreme cases, I bet a coat or two of hard wax (like J&J Floor wax, my favorite) on the tube outside would do a good job of keeping it in check?

Cheers FCr's!

The guy in the review did say he has sweaty hands. Unless my GF, ex-wife and boss are all in the same room, mine are pretty dry.

Sounds reasonable to me. AFAIK it (tarnish) has more to do with body chemistry, not moisture. It often changes in life as well I'm told, more common in teens and young adults.

I have a bit of advice. Retire first off, that 'boss' thing goes away overnight. Too bad about the GF of course, a change of venue to more comfortable conditions might be in order? As to the ex.....well, I don't recall your asking for advice before the marriage......

OF, your recommendation of vinegar to remove tarnishing would be/and is our response to this question.

With an addition. We will replace any ThrmoVape part(s) at no charge. We dimly require that the part(s) be shipped to us with the request. We cover the cost of plating, the cutover the shipping (<0$.60 to $5 depending on service).

This way, someone beats up the finish on the ThermoVape, or some other malady occurs, we can device their device for essentially a couple of buck or less.

Cheers,

ThermoVape

I find vinegar cleans up the tarnish as well, it's not difficult it's just inconvenient.

The problem isn't how to fix the tarnish, the problem is that the body and battery tube tarnish, period.

As you can see the revolution body and top of the ultra remain absolutely clean, even though I always touch them both:
3dSts.jpg

Notice above the sharp color/tarnish difference between the body and the head (where it narrows) this indicates two different finishes so why isn't it all the better finish?
(Ignore the univ. adapter please)

f0Ivi.jpg

The last thing I want is another body that will tarnish within a week... there are plenty of finishes that appear to be completely unaffected by hand oils so it baffles me why TV would make the part of the vape that you handle out of a tarnish-able material...

(I tried inquiring about ordering a t1/17670 size body with plastic cover but I guess they aren't in to custom orders either...)

Well, this is a bit discouraging, I am unwrapping the PT for the sabor mini, and on a sticker label around the packaging it says the ST has an auto shut off for heat protection and to let it cool down between hits, so this could impair the use of the Evo knowing how hot it gets. I did get an exteded 3/4" 510-510 adapter so maybe that will help with the heat...

CRAP, they sent me the wrong PT... nevermind... till next week sometime I guess...:disgust:
To make matters worse... I put the exteded adapter I got today on the MINI, and it must have had a short. The plastic started melting in the end cap, and when I took it off to try to see if it was ok, the power was on as soon as I put the end cap on, so something fried because of a stupid adapter. guess this was a BIG waste of $$. :( PLEASE BE CAREFUL USING ADAPTERS, SOME OF THEM OUT THERE ARE CHEAPLY MADE AND CAN SHORT YOUR BATTERY. The one I just got that shorted the mini looked like brass pressed into an aluminum tube, very cheap looking, not solid metal like the other ones I have. Things sure did slip down hill fast. It was probably the 'universe' keeping me from plugging that thing into a real power source that could have been much worse if things were not right in the Mini considering your body makes the electrical connection happen, I suppose, that is one way to look at it anyway.:suspicious:

Since I have these 18350 batteries that were supposed to be for the mini, I decided to toss one into my lil' chuck and fire up the EvoLV and got it rocking some vapor on the lil'chuck... I don't have any idea how well the button will hold up under long term use, but at least I can still use these batteries for something...

So far I have gone through roughly 2-3 packs and would have to say that the taste is amazing with this device. I get about 3 or so long drags per pack before I decided it was about done. Interested to see the recharge time on the RCR321a's. Is there a faster charger for them if I find that it seems a bit slow? or is the only remedy keeping a cache of batteries charged? I probably will end up with a pack of batteries just in case. I will continue testing later tonight when I get off work. So far I am loving the Evo!
