are the screens in the SC 4pc removable?
Now THAT is an interesting idea!
I have a med 4pc SC and I've been debating getting a sm 2pc because I'm not really into collecting kief much anymore.
The only problem with the 2 pc is there is nowhere to store the herb.
I was gonna get a small SC stash container for the ground herb.
But if the screen can be removed...maybe a small 4pc is the way to go?!

well you can always remove the screen layer from a 4pc (making it a 3pc) to achieve this. i would prefer to keep that layer but remove the screen. this would give me a nice deep chamber for the herbs to fall into. i know 7th floor have some 4pc grinders that have a removable screen.

I've been trying to search but it keeps crapping out. Has there been any discussion here regarding the "electric green" grinder on ebay? It's pricey, but i'm wondering if there is anything special about it (other than aesthetics) or is it just an expensive coffee grinder?

If you don't yet have a 2 pc SC, get one. Many feel it is the only grinder you will ever need.

yeah i've had a bunch of different grinders inc. space case 2 piece, and sharpstone 4 piece. My favorite is actually the storz & bickel volcano grinder 2 piece, but for ease of use and consistency, i still much prefer the coffee grinder. I just can't stand grinder maintenance with them getting gunked up, stuck, etc.

I'm not sure if anyone has the electric green, but I heartily recommend one of these, I've been using mine daily for almost two years with no problems. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ELECTRIC-HE...les_Tobacciana_Smoking_LE&hash=item3cc29b9f0f

The battery is plenty strong, lasts like 6 months (I use rechargeable) and I wouldn't want my grinder taking up an outlet anyway.

well for that price i'll be picking one up, thanks! What kind of battery does it use? what kind of grind can you get? fine or coarse as you please?

They use AA batteries, I picked up a few of them off eBay as gifts for friends a few months ago.
I've had nothing but happy reports.
I'm not 100% sure on the grind consistency, but it should do the job fine.

I have used a grinder very similar to that and found that it doesn't break up the buds as much as I wanted to. I found that the electric grinder I had used had trouble when the bud was wet or sticky.

I've had pretty good success with a black & decker electric coffee grinder. However I think the blades finally became dull because the grind is extremely inconsistent. I'll give to grind extra long to get most of the bud down to a good consistency, but then it overgrinds and I still end up with bigger nugs in there. Could be time for a new one.

vape4life,
Wet/undercured buds will indeed need more time in the electric grinder to get fine. I find you -can- get them quite fine nontheless with a good battery and a little patience. You basically turn it upside down, allow the blade to ramp up to full speed, then bounce the material up and down into and out of the blades. Dry or properly cured material will grind without this kind of thought and effort. When I want a truly fine grind, I turn to the electric grinder in question, or the puffitup, 2 piece, tiny MFLB specific grinder. I wish that tooth pattern were upscaled to a medium-size grinder. Anyway, I wish someone would buy that electric Green grinder and pass us on a review, it looks like a nice unit.

It does, and i'm seriously thinking about it. But if it's just a regular coffee grinder painted green I can't justify that sort of money.

Is there a downside to using a coffee grinder? I mean, obviously there is the possibility of overgrinding. But about being "destructive" to the buds and "knocking" all the trichomes and kief off? It essentially builds up kief itself and I notice crystals still on the shredded herb so I assume it's not a factor?

Coffee grinders are just sooo easy to maintain compared to SS grinders, and so effortless.

I ordered a NO2 from Puffitup and it came with a med 2pc SC Ti. Due to some shipping problems Randy upgraded to the med 4pc SC Ti and I am glad he did. It grinds a lot finer than what I have read. I believe the size of the grind is perfect for the NO2.

Not only that but it's worth a HECK of alot more :)

Upon doing more research on the Electric Green (amazon reviews) I have concluded that it is simply a coffee grinder in disguise. i've switched from using the coffee grinder to the storz & bickel... i like it better than any of the space cases i used to own and it doesn't jam up like a SS grinder does. Obviously cleaning will be more cumbersome being that it's acrylic.

Can't edit my last posts, so I guess it's a bump...anyways...

does anyone know if there is a difference in hole size between the small 4 piece spacecase and the medium 4 piece? looking for a good grinder for the Cloud.

I have a small two piece aluminium grinder, it's not great but it has done a decent job up until a week or so ago. I noticed it was getting harder to turn, it felt like there was too much 'resistance' when trying to grind herb in it, so I ended up cleaning it with isopropyl and salt, so it looked pretty much brand new when I was done. Anyway, now it moves very freely but it feels like it's not grinding very well at all, like I can still grind with it to some extent but it takes ages, and I have a feeling it's something to do with the nylon gasket but not really sure. If anyone has any idea of if there's a way to 'fix' it or make it work better, it'd be appreciated, as I can't really buy a new one in the immediate future, but will think about getting a better one a couple of months from now. All I could afford now would probably be of a similar quality to this one which I don't think would really be worth it (it cost about $15 btw).

Nylon gasket just decreases friction and stops the metal edges from scraping on each other. Shouldn't affect the grind.

Does it 'feel' like it's not grinding well, or is the fineness of the grind actually worse now? It could be that the teeth of your grinder have actually dulled over time.

I have some really basic questions that I hope you guys don't mind answering.

1. When you grind, do you turn it all to one side, back and forth, or mix it up.

2. How do you hold the grinder while you use it. Straight up? At a 90 degree angle so it's on it's side? etc.

3.How long do you grind your herb for? a good 2min/5min/or more?

That and any other basic noob grind tips that you have would be greatly appreciated. Just got my 2pc Small Space Case in the mail last night.

Alb,

OhTheAgony

here for the chicks
1. mix it up

2. straight up usually. With really sticky bud I sometimes turn it upside down after while, smack it on the table, and continue.

3. I'm usually done within ten seconds or so.

+1 for answers to 1,2,3.

Extra tips:
* Keep grinder in freezer for best grind results and minimal crystal build up in unwanted areas.
* Regular cleaning with 99% Iso Alcohol is recommended for an easy, smooth grind and can make some nice reclaim.
* Don't bang pieces together to dislodge herb, use a brush or wooden toothpick - this will maintain the grinder longer.
* Don't put too big bits or stalks in as they will blunt the teeth quicker.

Mine is a sharpstone that I have been happy with. However, after daily use for about two months the lid has some black shit along the edges that is kind of gunking it up slightly when I turn it to grind it. I don't know if this is typical...I haven't taken the time to clean it yet.

But grinding is definitely the way to go. I got my grinder in anticipation of getting a vape and it was making me more efficient even when combusitng.
Yep, that black stuff is plant material that falls over past the threads and gets burned as you turn the grinder. The space case has a nylon gasket that prevents this from happening for the most part.

I have found that the space case with the black titanium anodized finish is the best grinder. The screen is high quality, you get more kief to fall through than other grinders. The titanium finish is non-stick, you can slide your kief from side to side. Also, the teeth are sharper than any grinder I've tried and they stay sharp for longer. The only negative on space case grinders is that the holes on the grinder are a bit too big for vaporizing. It will work, but it would be better to opt for a 2pc space case titanium to get a finer grind.

Mendo Mulcher just recently came out with new 2" and 1.75" grinders specifically for vaporizing. They have smaller holes and more teeth. This will be my next grinder.

What are the cons of an acrylic grinder? I have loved my herb mill, and noticed there are lots of these out there (vape world) and they're cheap. The only downside i've noticed so far is I have to be extra careful not to overgrind. Soap and hot water and a dishwasher make it sparkling so don't need to use ISO on acrylic. The grinder also moves "freely" for a longer period before cleaning.

I don't believe that there are any significant cons of acrylic grinders (design dependent of course). Occasionally teeth can chip or break, but they're inexpensive and easily replaced. They can grind really well too. I like 'em. But they're plastic which is just not as nice and satisfying to use as metal IMO.

I have a plastic grinder. If I'm going over to a mates with a desktop vape for a serious session I take it along as it's light, still grinds well and I'm not too bothered if I leave it behind.
But at home, like Wat, I like some Heavy Metal
