So I was cleaning up and came across my Vapcap from awhile ago. I picked it up and a quad torch and always got wispy vapor out of it, went back to using my Milaana and Zion.

Maybe it was out of boredom but I started looking up Vapcap usage videos and saw that folks were getting giant clouds out of theirs, did a little more research and found out that the quad torch was causing the click way too early (the surface area of its heat makes it unwieldy to direct the flame)

Luckily, I have a single flame torch available. I changed how I used to heat the Vapcap by now moving the flame up and down the cap while rotating the Vapcap.

Getting very satisfying hits out of it. I think it's my new go to for an "on the go" solution. It's a testament to reading instructions prior to using something new!

Yeah, I didn't like using the triple flame torch that came in my starter pack. I'll take it hiking/biking though since it's more wind resistant, but single flame FTW.

@danielj those are lovely. Especially the last one.

also, I’ve made this offer to a few of our woodworkers previously, but had no takers. I have about half dozen pen blanks, in exotic woods, that need a new home. All suitable for stems. I’m happy to send them out to a US-based woodworker gratis.

@StringTheorista

thanks for the compliment and the offer of those pen blanks. Alas, my setup revolves around collet chucks and dowel rod blanks...not rectangular pen blanks. Also, I mainly use allergy free woods. Most exotics do not fit into that catagory. but sincere thanks havexa great week

I was thinking of those self-carving kits from DV. I am in awe of people that can carve dragons on twigs. They sell NA flutes in kit the same way. Some amazing creations come from those.
As I am also learning to turn stems, I've focused in on an odd species. So far so good. Your style of turning is similar to what I am doing except I am loosing the condenser tube. Since all of mine were for evaluation of the material's suitability, I am learning that a longer length wooden stem helps tremendously with cooling. I am also finding light weight, light enough to hold in my mouth without hands or teeth, is an important factor to me. Wooden stems hold a significant advantage in this regard.

Wonderful to hear that you are doing stem work. would love to see some pics of your creations.

speaking of NA flutes....i made and sold concert quakity ones for about 12 years. The most fun part was carving the various fetish animals. It was a very blessed time for me. Sometimes I look back and am amazed that I was able to do that stuff. Discovering the vapcap and making wood stems is a little bit reminisient of those flute days. Best of luck to you with your vc stems

After decades on marriage that has not been my experience, quite the contrary in fact. Certainly a larger learning curve than a vapcap though.

And you're not making totem stems? Uhmmmm... "knock knock...". I have a -few- flutes.

I've been working on convincing myself a shrub is a bad idea for stem-work, starting with simple 1/4" straws for Magic Flight Launch Boxes. They were holding up so I thought I'd expand. This is an experiment that has gone on since September. This wood is stubborn; it won't give into submission. It is continually proving itself worthy in unique ways. It's become a good journey the blog from - which is the link...

Is anyone else still waiting on their Black Friday Sale items? Ugh. This wait is brutal. Ordered on the 27th (PhantoM Holiday gift pack). I like the fact they changed couriers to DHL but it is now a $35USD ($46CAD) delivery fee to Canada. Which I think is a little steep, specially if you're trying to order a oring and screen kit.

C'mon USPS/Canada Post. Please get me my package before xmas. Thanks. Lol.

@TommyDee I went to your thread and took a look...very cool. thanks for the link

re. totem like stems. carving on a DV sized column is something Im working on. Ive got the hand tooling and some initial prototypes. Quite challenging for me with my eyesight. and coming up with designs that look good, are still functional. and that I can actually pull off... lets just say, a hydravong begs for a CNC!

I willlll get some items out to you all...

o, @Morty, what’s your spin on butane vapes for the aficionados?

Woah! U got a SV3!...w/ the heating element on...upside down ? :o I don't if the thermo wires are kaput, but if they are u might be able to hit up Stu & get a round about time for certain temps & I'm sure u would be able to adjust up & down time wise according to how you like your AVB.

KidFated said in the Sup thread that the Dyna CCD's fit into the stock SV3 bowls, which makes me think a DynaCoil would work pretty awesome in the Sup (w/ stock bowls). Anyone w/ a Supreme wanna give it a try ? :brow: Stark...anyone...SOMEONE...:haw:

Wow! Dont look at the thread for like a day and there are 4 new pages!!

Sorry this is off topic but @Morty, you made my day to hear you speak so highly of the SS. I have not used the Supreme but have read the great reviews. The SmokeStack is still my DD and I dont see that changing.

I fill up the Cyclone Bowl about halfway & use the "shake & bake" method. :spliff: Get the heating element combustion temp hot, draw super fast 4 the 1st few seconds, shake to stir the load, then rinse & repeat till finished w/ all subsequent draws super duper slow. Doing this, I can cash the whole bowl in 1 go around w/ super even AVB. SUPER DUPER EVEN. One must have big lungs 4 this, but it's so much easier on the lungs than say...ripping 0.5 out of bong. That's 4 sure.

Stay Radical fellas!

@Morty, Thermo fried, but sourced another one (it was prolly the thermistor); trying to get off my butt, and fire up the soldering iron.

Intending to use glass stems (have aversion to anything resembling aluminum), so right side up
For me is OK— nothing to fall out.

As for the coil, since it fits into the stem, it should fit into anything 8mm (will let you know, if I run into my
Coil (I don’t use concentrates, a bit messy IMO)). :)

Haven’t seen KF since his last/first born.

Happy Holidaze! Stay safe, and VapCap on.

I just deleted 7 posts that had nothing to do with the VapCap. This thread is active enough without off-topic posts. Also, as I've mentioned elsewhere, there are just two of us moderating FC and we don't have time to watch every thread for off-topic posts, especially one with as many posts as this one. In particular, I want to single out political posts because one of the deleted comments was definitely political. With the US 2020 campaign gearing up, please keep your political content to threads in the Vapor Lounge, and even there we will be quick to shut down anything that gets heated. I suggest people who feel a need to express political views should find a better forum for them, such as reddit. Thanks for your cooperation.
