Nice!! Could you post a "how-to" guide for this? Would I be able to use my Zephyr Ion with it as well?

Thanks!

Hi Anthony,

I'm afraid the Party-Beast In-Line Pump-Assisted Bladder-Conditioner v1.0 had a short life as it suffers from a fundamental design flaw which defeats its primary purpose! Please take note that the photograph and video were made public before this concept was actually tested under real-life conditions by true vaporists.

Here's what happens... When inflating, the bag collects vapor from the HerbalAire and it would also gather fresh air from the device's mouthpiece (red bottleneck end) should its user forget to pinch this critical opening, which is how it was meant to work so far. The problem appears when one attempts to empty the bag: there are tension forces created in the space between it and the cavity walls... Put shortly, in order to inhale the bag's vapor, one must also fight the bottle's relative vacuum around that bag. It was found that when this phase is reached the tube which provides pump control must be disconnected to allow any satisfying inhalation at all, which means the HerbalAire's vapor effectively stops being drawn while inhaling - breaking the concept relatively to its most fundamental objective.

As a remedy, a hole near the mouthpiece end should help to fix this situation but that would mean the user now will need to manage with two openings, making the Party-Beast In-Line Pump-Assisted Bladder-Conditioner v1.0 much less appealing than it could have seemed initially.

It's a nice on-line place to visit out there:

Thanks for making such creative suggestions!

The product to which you refer depends on an extensible bag (a balloon) and for our purpose this one wouldn't have to contain anything but fresh air so i'd say that's a good start. If the main cavity can be heated, from within ideally, controlled deflation of the ballon should provide proper air flow to fill a vapor bag connected to the opposite opening but lets not forget that this air flow will disapear once pressures between both volumes have reached equilibrium).

At first glance i'd argue this whole idea of using a ballon implies that the extensible bag needs to support heat exposition as that due to being close to a heat source of limited size... On the other hand, proximity to the heat source is no unresolvable problem as long as the balloon blows the heated air away. Perhaps it can be adapted somehow but i don't see it now.

i saw a lady on cable laminate different layers of glass using a kiln. If you could find a way to cut the spiral groove through a piece of glass you could laminate it between two solid pieces to create the air pathways you've descibed.

i'm really having a fun time imagining the induction cook top incorporated into the design, as a hand held unit

It's not that difficult to picture: there's an induction plate then a self-contained CD-case-format heater module then a bowl fitting the openings on the back-side of that modular device. ...and i'm confident both can be made to be locked mechanically together for increased stability. Glass would be a nice feature but i believe the suitable nickel alloy (for induction heating) is no worst than HerbalAire's crucible/oven contraption, etc.

On a 2nd thought, ceramic could be an alternative: that would allow easy prototyping, provided the right alloy is available to begin with...

Now, lets go back to the ShotGun concept for a minute. I've fixed the Party-Beast In-Line Pump-Assisted Bladder-Conditioner v1.0 and turned it into what i tagged modestly as "HerbalAire ShotGun (Bag) Accessory"... It can be seen in these two videos:

HerbalAire ShotGun (Bag) Accessory

HerbalAire ShotGun (Bag) Accessory & Mist Maker Moisturizer

The Mist Maker Moisturizer is possible because of a convenient tube connector system based on this product:

A-107.jpg

Delrin 96760-PT series brass compression sleeve

Fellow Canadian citizens will find it at Rona L'Entrept as the Watts A-8 and A-107, respectively. The trick is to make a 3/16" hole to fit the A-8 sleeve tightly (insert from the internal side), on which hot glue is applied right before the A-107 sleeve is slipped on it (from the external side). The glue solidifies in seconds, turning the sleeves pair into a sturdy air-tight connector which is compatible with the HerbalAire 3/16" I.D. tubing. The rings are useles, they can be discarded.

This picture is an attempt to illustrate how my moisturizer was assembled:

3-Way Moisturizer (v1.2) with 18 x 22 inches Oven Bag

A closer view:

There are three items illustrated in this picture. Perhaps the most obvious one for HerbalAire owners is the grommets i've added to my connectors so they don't risk to slip out; that feature also makes tube handling easier because of the grip they provide. Next, i'd say it's not clear what that tiny in-line component between the bag and my moisturizer could be for... Well, this is a water droplet arrester or at least a prototype version of one. It can be seen in a previous video that bubble splashes may throw water droplets right into the exit hole and then this water reaches the bag starting from there. One attempt to fix it was to use some in-line gas filter (yes, i did try to use less water and/or a bigger jar!):

25yvvjs.jpg

Unfortunately, as anyone should expect of an item coming from a car department store, euh... It turned out i had to reject such a solution because of its smell (from the black rubber part inside)! The next picture shows a device i found in the aquarium section of another store:

2s6a3ic.jpg

I knew it would be safe but i had to buy a few and break them in order to remove the valve inside, then recombine its translucent recycled parts together to form an in-line cavity as that which i wanted... The later contraption works for short periods but water accumulates in it, eventually, which defeats its purpose because that water then can reach the bag after a while. As a result, i conclude a larger cavity would be required or i'll be restricted to using normal size HerbalAire bags when connected to this moisturizer prototype.

Last but not least, i simply don't use HerbalAire's bag clip system; a string and sticky ribbon work fine for me...

sorry to dump on your thread, but just putting in a vote for portability - I think that's what people want, but how do you shrink down an oil rig to something that looks like a cigarette?

Hi, i think i've wrote it many times before: all opinions are most welcome here, yours included VWFringe!

:D

Now, relatively to portability, i believe it was addressed by me (but maybe others too) at some point in November:

SHOT GUN VAPORIZER v3.0

The modified VapBong structure isn't compatible with off-the-shelf induction plates as those available at Sears but that doesn't mean i totally rejected this particular design. It's not the size of a cigarette but i'd find cigar size to be portable enough for my own taste. I don't like having to use fire but energy density in fossil fuel is just too "sexy" to be ignored in a portable application.

If you must insist for having it reduced to e-cig size then my advice would be to split the vaporization process in two phases:

1) In house extraction
2) Outdoors vaporization

That way i'm confident one would be able to slice into his "power budget" and miniaturize down to "portable" scale.

Last week i vaporized a single "reclaim" droplet in my HerbalAire and obtained a pleasant "high" which lasted for hours until i went to bed. In my opinion, there's plenty of space in an e-cig format to contain a multitude of such potent droplets. The main problem i see with e-cigs is power conversion efficiency and vapor delivery: you'll really want those to be optimized.

;)

Sometimes fantasy becomes reality, it's the case of this water toy i've built last spring:

It turns out the addition of fog to my cannabis vapor seems to help with cauphing.
