Last year someone made some temperature profiles, among them an Omni, an an M.

They were probably posted previously, but it may still be interesting to have them reposted.

Thank you, @Stu! :mmmm:

Here's a chart of VapCap Omni in use:

Some observations contrasting this chart with the one for the M.

  1. The Omni clicks a few seconds quicker than the M. Between 3-5 seconds (I've timed them separately several times to validate this). This makes sense as the M has more mass to heat up (5g version 3.5g for the Omni).
  2. The M gets about 10°C hotter the Omni in similar usage tests. IMO this is due to the excess energy transferred to the M (stays in the IH heater longer).
  3. The M stays hotter longer. I wasn't even able to do a second draw on the Omni before the cooldown click came. This I believe is a combination of the extra mass of the M holding the extra energy (point 2) and the fact that Ti conducts the thermal energy away to the surface allowing to radiate the heat away more quickly.
Both vapes work very well and I don't think one is "better" than the other, but I think it's helpful to understand what's going with them and why they perform slightly different. :2c:

Here's the M chart for comparison

The above graphs are very interesting. Thanks both to @stark1 and@STU.

A couple of observations from the graph:
- The M reaches a higher temp than the Omni, by about 20C
- The M seems to cool down faster than the Omni

That later statement is against what I read in the forum, but it is my interpretation from the table. Anyone want to chip in?

Sample size of one...

Nice that the “Essence” of a VapCap can be used to make a functional unit with almost any “stem”.

A stem O’day, today.

—And so glad I don’t have to pack a shitload of kind anymore. Conservation land.

American Helix Solo is a bit less bulky.

I have a suggestion for those who bought the bubbler wand kits from @DDave. The "Custom Wand" is made to fit in a stash and the 14mm GCC lets the wand drop into the Showerhead a little to far for "OCD" me. I picked up some "Hookah Grommets". Little silicone cones that are used to seal up the joints in hookah hoses. I like the "Nyla" style, perfect 14mm gasket. Support your local Hookah Shop. Doc

The SGP is fantastic. The Wands are "the Kine". So tasty, easy to reclaim, so easy to clean. You have a winner here Dave. I love the whole kit. Doc

Over the weekend I attended a festival and met up with friends. They had travelled several hundred miles to come up to join us. They were joint smokers. I came with my keychain pouch stocked with a lighter, a stash and two Vapcaps.

Well, I'm pleased to say that over the evening my friends discovered that they needn't fumble around with rolling joints when there is a Vapcap available. I began by heating 'caps for them and giving them some tips on toking. One of them burnt their lip taking a toke from the hot end, but in their defense it was pretty dark out by that point. It made me think that having one of @stardustsailor s Glow in the Dark stems would have been handy with the striped GITD mp to guide you.

By the end of the night my friends were sold on the virtues of the Vapcap and were able to heat and toke on their own.

The next day we got together for an evening meal. I didn't have any more Ms that I was willing to part with, so I gifted them a Ti light wood VonG.

I love it when a Vapcap conversion goes well and I'm pretty sure this couple will finally Fuck Combustion.

There is an idea for you. A piece of glow in the dark strip to the edges of the carb hole, with the carb intake the endpoints. Or dot.

whoa im upside down..... or downside up.
Vapcap unreality.

Funny. On my Apple iPad the pictures always show right. On the one occasion when I looked up FC ( in a library) the right side up picture was right side down.

So I sidled outer there. :hmm: Tiny pic 4U!

A glow it the dark body would be pretty sweet! I actually have some stuff called “glow stone” that glows in the dark “once charge with light”. That would be pretty cool! I might have to make one!

There's a company in Japan that made something called Luminlay that I used as inlays on my guitar necks for fret 'dots'. Sometimes under just the wrong lighting the guitars fingerboard can disappear. The glow-in-the-dark in-lays on the edge of the side of the fingerboard always popped. And they were a fun prop to talk about when I didn't need them.

But...I have a friend. He could probably inlay one into my Cocobolo Nonavong. Not that I need it. It's my shortie with a standard condenser shoved deep inside a Ti Tip to render the carb useless. But it might look cool as shit.

I just looked up that company! That stuff is super cool! Im thinking its possible to inlaying a round dot, into a wood body and drilling the carb hole into the center of that dot to make the carb, so then the carb is illuminated! Now I want one for my XL!

I think I just found a new project!

Feels great don't it? saving peoples lives.
I have 3 fully converted now.

I love it! It does feel great to introduce smokers to the Vapcap; the perfect vape IMHO.

I think I'm up to 6 converts so far with 2 of them iffy. One of the iffy ones still sings praises for the Vapcap but I see her using a glass pipe. She says she just uses it when she wants a quick and easy hit....WTF? What is quicker or easier than a Vapcap? Honestly though, I think she needs an induction heater because she seems to have trouble with the twirling.

she seems to have trouble with the twirling.
Ha! It does take a little bit of coordination which can be hard to come by (especially after a few capfuls!)
I rotate through several vapes and when all my lighters are empty, I put off using my VC. I always find I need a few practice runs before I am back in the twirling groove.
But I can pat my head and rub my belly at the same time.

surely anyone who could manage to roll a joint would have the necessary dexterity and coordination to twirl a vapcap!

The vapcap is iconic

I agree the lighter refuelling issue is a sticking point!

She never rolls joints, not any worth lighting anyway. She just smokes from a pipe.
Young people today eh!
Don't even have basic joint Rolling skills:rolleyes:

Mind you I guess the same could be said about my ineptitude with lighter refilling!

I know this might seems odd, but the thing I probably miss most about smoking pot is rolling joints. I am very good at it and people usually put me to work when they needed rolling done and I was there.

I haven't rolled a joint in a few years now, and I actually miss it. Funny huh...
