Well after further investigation into the crack, this crack is a lot bigger. I only saw the line on the bottom surface but the crack basically travels around the entire side wall of the insert. I didnt even notice until I went back to use it last night. I will take pics of it and post it.

I asked CCA if I can still use it with the crack and they said yes. I thought the same too.

Here is a few pics of the crack. As the crack goes around the side wall, its hard to get.


Look for the cracked lines on the sidewalls. There is a small crack on the surface (not pictured) which is small and hard to get on camera. I didnt even noticed the sidewall cracks (had carbon residue covering it) until doing @ensabbahnur distilled water cleaning method of just putting distilled water in the insert for 20 mins and use a clean qtip and clean out the carbon. If i am not mistaken, ive read him posting it several times in here.

All last night i was still using the cracked sapphire and really enjoying the taste of sapphire which makes it hard to go back to SiC insert. I typically dab a good amount (i fill the flat tip all the way up) which gives me 2-3 solid milky rips with this sapp insert with each rip tasting as good as the first. With the SiC, its really just the first and the second is alright as you get some taste.

Good news for CCA is that so far, their customer service with me on this has been up to good. This happened Saturday which is the day i received the insert and as of yesterday, was approved for replacement and sent for shipping. Now just waiting on the shipping game. They have been responsive with me regarding this issue which gives me faith on their improvement of their business.

I still have a Silver Hurricane Master Set I ordered on 10/18 which should round up my CCA wants and needs until 4.0 is out. (Obsidian insert i may still get in the future)

I’m back to report on my foray into the DHGate carb caps I acquired. First off, the 2 caps cost me a little under $6 in total. The minimum purchase order was 2 pieces. It took about a week for the caps to get to my house, which was quicker than usual for DHgate orders IME.

I compared both caps to the free hurricane cap I received. One of the glass caps was a hair under 38mm and didn’t provide a perfect seal when placed on top of the Liger. This cap also had a poorly angled directional airflow that points into the titanium sidewall of the Liger rather than into the SiC dish. This cap performed poorly overall, and was less satisfying than my Hurricane cap.

The second glass cap is about 41mm and had a perfect seal on the Liger. Sometimes this seal was broken in spinning the cap around when not perfectly centered, because 41mm is still quite close to the liger’s 38mm opening. I found this additional airflow to actually be quite nice after performing my ‘tape’ fix (read below). The directional airflow points right into my SiC dish, and although it tends to push my concentrate into the corner (lip?) of the SiC dish rather than the middle - it did a much better job at moving around the concentrate than my hurricane cap ever did. I also found that the directional airflow didn’t make a noticeable mess on the bottom of the cap or sidewall of the Liger. However, I wasn’t a big fan of how much airflow was coming into the cap from the large hole on top, so I took a small piece of clear tape and covered the large hole on top of the cap, then used a tac to make a small hole in the tape. Although this was a bit of a ghetto fix, I was FINALLY able to ‘chug’ an entire dab in one big beautiful rip. I got larger rips with less pooling than ever before. Lastly, the top of the cap remained cool throughout its use.

To my surprise, this $3 cap with a little tape on top vastly outperformed the Hurricane cap I received (and doesn’t get nearly as hot).

A couple final points. As seen above, one cap was a clear miss and one was an optimal fit. I would suggest ordering 3 caps just in case to find one with an optimal airflow/fit. At $1-2 per cap, this route is still much cheaper than buying a $75+ cap. I am unsure whether my usage of clear tape could cause unwanted inhalation of chemicals. IMPO it’s fine, since the clear tape was situated on top of the carb cap, and the carb cap is chunky enough that the top hole remains cool to the touch throughout the cap’s use. But hey, that’s just me .

oh man thats a big boy, was the insert totally cool before you cleaned it? Im pretty paranoid about mine and always try to get it to room temp before doing any cleaning even if it really might not be that fragile.

Also, how fast does your nail heat up? I honestly don't see this being an issue as the mass of the Liger should mitigate fast heating but as Im pretty sure you didn't drop the dish or slam it into the bucket, I'm just trying to think of what else could have caused a crack that big.

Id still use it, I don't think there is much danger of it doing anything crazy.

Also, received the tracking for the 20mm Obsidian yesterday.

My MiniNail heats up the coil really fast. Within 5 mins, my insert is around 450-480F using a Thermocoupler Ktype. Everything was cool down to room temp, i gave it about 30 minutes to cool down, i then took apart the Liger and cleaned with ISO prior to using the new Sapp insert. I wanted to make sure i get the full taste of flavor on my first rip.

As for cleaning the insert, i mainly clean my inserts and rigs prior to using it for the day. With Rigs, i just run it through hot water for 5-7 mins each day. I was also cleaning my SiC insert by setting my controller to 200F and drop of drop of distilled water and whip. But now, i will just put distilled water in the insert at room temp and leave it for 20-30 mins. so much easier and safer.

So the day it cracked, i was dabbing some sauce (HTFSE/HCFSE) I just picked up after cleaning the Liger for first time use. The clinic sells the Sauce in a glass jar but they keep it in the fridge. So when i dabbed, the dabbed may have been cold and i touch the sidewalls of the insert to get it to melt off the flat dabber. So i am thinking that maybe the cooler dab and cold dabber may have shocked it. I dunno but that is the only thing i can think of other than just shitty luck.

I watched a bunch of youtube videos of people dabbing on their sapp insert and many let the dab slide off the dabber by holding it over the insert. I asked CCA if that was the correct method and they stated it doesnt matter, either way works. People do the slow melting slide strictly for video purpose to look bad ass!

I am pretty anal and detailed orientated when it comes down to directions and processes, specially for a $300 insert! Either way, I will make sure to when using the sapphire, 1) not keep meds in the fridge prior to use. 2) let the dab warm a few seconds prior to contact to insert. and lastly 3) use your method for cleaning the insert as it avoids any additional heating.

Let us know how you like the 20mm Obsidian, Ive been reading the 60+ pages of this thread and its making me want to get a 20mm Liger! Dam you guys!

Yeah, but its an enail insert and if its fit for purpose then this is a valid use case and no excuse for it cracking, IMO.

I think you just got a bad batch insert or something. I have a small fridge designated just for my concentrate stash, so i dab on cold (~40F) FSE sauces every day since spring this year. my sapphire isn't cracked.

On a side note, i actually prefer my concentrate chilled before i take a dab. Maybe subjective, but i feel it brings out a bit more taste... Like a chilled wine

I totally agree. Chilled seems to give off a bit more flavor/taste IME. I chill only my expensive meds in the fridge due to laziness. Typically the $60 to $150 a gram stuff. $150 a gram is the hash house rosin which is just amazing. I only get this on occasion. When its fresh, its basically clear with a bit of haze to it and as it dries up, its pure white. Clean and POWERFUL. I just dabbed my last of it on the sapphire dish sat and yea, its amazing. Google hash house rosin.

Another thing i like about the chilled dabs is the popping/sizzling noise it makes when it touches down.

Anyone know if there is any science to chilled concentrates giving more flavor?

I chill anything i want to keep for a while or really want to savor.
I have dabbed chilled material on both of my saph surfaces and haven't had any issues.

I think the chilled material allows a little bit better flavor profile in the same way the drop tech with a cool insert, by giving you more terpenes or anything else for that matter, across a slightly wider temperature range. Id imagine if from the time of harvest, to the time it hits your dish of choice, if the material never rose above freezing.....that flavor would be ineffable, truly amazing. Kinda like how they do Clausen pickles in the refer section of the market.

Replacement Sapphire Insert is set to arrive tomorrow which is one week from when i received it and cracked. Not bad customer service! I give them TWO THUMBS UP! I really like this insert and really dont use the SiC insert at all which is why the obsidian dish is dropping on my to buy list.

Any more obsidian reviews? From what I read, its very close to Tier 1 SiC insert which makes the insert easier to clean and keep clean.

Still waiting on the Silver Hurricane Master Set I ordered on 10/18. And i guess i will have to order a glass cap for this thing next week and it looks like it will be the clear wierdeer cap.

Hi Shooby - no, I have a 20 mm V2 Liger with SiC and haven't found a reason to buy another. It works great, IMO.

I do find my dab station to be very stable. If you have a question about it, you can always ask Huffy Glass to make the base wider, thicker, or both but yes, mine is very stable.

Received the banger and 20mm Obsidian plate today. Getting the same results as ensabbahnur. Cleanup is about one to half a qtip and the temp I am at is 480-510. Using this cap I got from DHGate. Don't have any other products from CCA to compare to, however I am pretty satisfied with this so far. I swear I had the rig clean last night.

Cold concentrate probably helps create a stabilized uptemp, which causes terpenes to boil off more gently and linearly, thus preserving flavor.

Could someone explain the difference between the flat coil and 16mm liger as far as performance goes and how they should be used? Want to get a liger and they have the 16mm on sale for 115 with an insert included or I could get the flat coil one for 80 but no inset so I would have to purchase that separately. Is it worth it to spend a little more on the flat coil?

The real thing to consider is heat retention in relation to the amount of concentrate. If you take large dabs, for example, the 16mm inserts may cool down quicker than you would like. This can be combated, though, with things like glob mode on Hex Nails. The smaller coil and inserts are likely more efficient, but if you need a larger surface area, you need a larger surface area.

If you get the flat coil model, you'll never have to worry about the size of your globs. Your hits are probably going to taste and vaporize better off the flat coil if you take em on the bigger side.

Well I orderd on the 14th a flatcoil liger normal sic insert and tsunami carb cap all in silver as I was hoping that it would be instock and ship faster lol. Same thing with the sic insert grabbed the old not the new in hopes of getting it faster. Nope lol... It said 1-2 weeks man this old school infiniti flat coil pos nail is killing me!!!! I cant wait for the liger.

I def can say an email up date on the day its due to ship if somethings backordered or out of stock would be awesome even if just an automated message but seeing people have orderd some things after i did and already got them im even more gelous now!!! Lol dam you youtube dont help watchin all them awesome dabs off them ligers its killin me but I cant stop watching lmao!!! And waiting

I feel you Boxie. Most of us went through it on our first order. Basically all machined items are not stocked and are made to order which is why he list 7-10 days or 1-2 weeks as lead times. I ordered the exact same thing as you, thinking silver with the shorter lead time would be faster and got my order in my hands about 23 days. Maybe 22 days.

Inserts are shipped faster since they stocked and dont require maching. Roughly a week for instock inserts.

They do email you when they created a shipping label but then you have another 1-3 days until the packages get to USPS. Its torture but so worth the wait as I believe this is the best tasting banger for concentrates. Especially with the Sapphire Insert!

I have a Silver Hurricane Master set i ordered on 18th and still havent got an update on it. Picking Silver doesnt seem to speed anything up. When i get 4.0 Liger, im going Blue! I am really fighting myself in getting the 20MM Liger in Blue. Mainly because i dont want to buy more inserts. Im spending all my Xmas shopping money on myself for CCA and Newvape shit! SMH! Gonna be a bunch of unhappy friends and family around me this winter.

So i was surfing the CCA site and was looking at the 20MM Liger Bangers and noticed they actually show inventory levels of all colors of the 20MM Liger. No other Liger has inventory listed.
With all the talk about 20mm tasting better than 30mm, I may get a 20mm Liger when they have another sale.

I’m in the same boat as you, ordered the silver liger flat coil with Sic insert. I emailed them (last week) and they told me the hold up has been the 14/18mm adapters had to be made and would require 7-14 days. Hope we both get ours soon, excited to join the club.

Same here. I ordered a 20mm Liger in rainbow and a Tsunami Carb Cap set on the 18th and an Obsidian Insert on the 19th and still nothing. Think Im gonna email today, but Ill just get the same info about the adapters probably haha.


I am getting so damn impatient waiting for this. I just ordered a Highfive enail on the same day so it's just sitting there waiting for this to show up.

Does anyone happen to know if the Auber 15.8 mm coil will fit the 16mm liger? Trying to find my first enail and it's a little confusing

Yes, it will and you want your coil to be a good snug fit anyway for good heat transfer.

Just got the custom Augusthaus coil for my 30mm liger and WOW what a difference it makes!

With the d-nail extended life flat coil, i had to set 540F minimum on the controller for a milky hit with a bit of flavor loss and 515 - 525F for flavorful hit, but with a fair amount of puddle chasing.

with the Augusthaus coil (after only doing a few "test runs") I've been getting TOO MUCH milk at 520F with a bit of a rough hit and some flavor loss. I'm currently at 480F and STILL getting a very milky hit with minimal puddle chasing. i will be pushing for lower temps as i "experiment" further

i immediately notice what a big difference having that "cup" shaped coil around the insert makes for more efficient, fuller oil vaporization and flavor. in comparison with the d-nail extended flat coil i was using, the inferior heat distribution of the regular-shaped flat coil clearly shows itself. in my opinion, the flat coil doesn't heat the liger enclosure well enough. so, as you apply the carb cap and the oil hits the walls of the insert, it cools too much and doesn't vaporize enough when you're trying to push for minimal temp and maximum flavor.

i haven't tried the 20mm, but I'm guessing that having that barrel style coil does a lot for making the heat distribution and flavor better on the insert than a regular flat coil does on the 30mm, as it also creates that "cup" shape around it, but with the Augusthaus coil upgrade, I think the 30mm is now very much like a fat 20mm, as I'm assuming it was always designed to be. bigger surface with no loss in efficiency.

yeah, if you got a 30mm liger, you gotta get an Augusthaus coil. it's like night and day compared to the regular flat coil.

now, i'm even more excited for my hexnail HN-02 to arrive so i can try out this new coil with glob mode.
