I love to use hash in the Vap cap with some cotton. i always carry some cotton, a little hash, my new vertigo cuad torch for exteriors and my beloved TiWoody, winner team! I find the cotton (100% natural cotton) to be flavorless, or at least if i have ever noticed the taste it was at the end of he hash bowl where also the hash flavor changes so i dont mind it at all.

Wish i had access to concentrates so i could try that. Would be nice to only have to load once!

I would be willing to write a short tutorial on how to produce nice concentrates at home, using some ethanol and a rice cooker. But I guess there are hundreds of tutorials out there already... It's basically this, just that my method differs in small details:

I would use both deep frozen buds & ethanol and keep the contact period between alcohol and material a bit shorter than 5 mins, but that's only a question of taste. You wash out less waxes and other (possibly) unwanted plant material then.

I use this concentrate to mix it with cooking oil (30 ml oil on the extract of 30gr weed), so that 2 drops of the final oil somehow match the effect of 0.1gr weed. Please note that you have to decarboxylate the weed before the procedure if you plan to consume the product orally. The oil/concentrate mix is not meant to get smoked or vaped. You would use the pure concentrate for this.

You should try it once. If I can do it, then it's not rocket science... ;)

How many seconds AFTER the click are people going with for concentrates?

It depends whether you are using some weed as well. If using the weed sandwich method 2-3 seconds to avoid scorching it, if vaping concentrates alone 3-4 seconds depending on what kind of concentrate you are using.

Do concentrates gunk it up too much if used without the hemp fiber?

Again, it depends.
I've used bubble hash without hemp fiber or cotton and the tip stays reasonably clean but wouldn't try with softer or stuff that fully melts.

I surely get people's fear of plastic and although I already explained my take on this (about the condensed vapor forming a film on the plastic surfaces and the relatively low temps involved...), I am sure there can be alternative materials used.
@natural farmer - I think you should change your name. Nothing natural about plastic vapor lungs!!!

Get some hair straighteners and parchment paper, and find out.....

I have made rosin and bho in the past. The rosin was pretty good but the bho was not so great.. Probably my doing but still... I'm not really a fan of DIY concentrates... Mostly I just don't like ruining my herb LOL

BHO should get banned from this planet. The ethanol thing is already quite dangerous at home, but doing BHO is just negligent and a danger for the public. It could also never impress me taste-wise. But I understand your reservation - I always hate taking 30 grams in my hands, having fear I could mess up... :)
(And it even happened for 1 or 2 times... Damn, I was salty afterwards...)

What does a speed controller do? Pardon the ignorance!

@Dynavaper for the record I would be quite interested in a guide if you ever jot it down. I'm more inclined to try these things when I hear the recipes and positive results from board members than I am for random ones I've found online.

@kellya86 & @phattpiggie please enlighten me too please. I thought the procedure just requires lowest heat setting and pressure. I've not tried it yet but I plan to sometime; as you say, DIY is the option. I just want to do it right. Many thanks!

its pretty much a rheostat in its simplest form

the one pictured is for fans.. ive seen them in some grows throughout the years.

in this case, its being used to limit the amount of current to the hair straightener, to give lower temp than the lowest setting will allow

I could never justify using good buds for bho.
Only ever made it outside and with trim, flavour and effect were unreal.
To the point where a friend thought he'd been spiked with ketamine.
Evaporating off the butane in a ban marie was an eye opener the first time.
Like everything involving highly volatile substances you just have to be careful, unfortunately idiots using stove tops and blowing out the sides of houses have caused a lot of bad press.
I'll get another set of straighteners and a dimmer and make a press using a bench vice.
I'm with @WoodVillain on the idea of a full days vaping from a single bowl.
One thing I didn't like was the sticky mess when handling it so I'd mix in some kief to make a lump of very loose hash.
Also sent a smug soap bar smoker home with his tail between his legs.

Hello, I'm a new proud owner of a vapcap M!
It arrived today, but sadly I can't try it because I lack one essential element: weed :(
So frustrating to have a new toy you can't play with...

I got a bit of kief around, anyone knows if there's a way I can use it with my vapcap? I thought of mixing it with tobacco and vaping it, but I'm not really sure it'll work and I might just end up wasting my kief.
So if anyone has some wisdom to share on the subject, please do :D

Have any abv you could mix with the keif?

Just got my M today too.

I did the 2 dry runs as instructions say, but still taste the metal.

The instructions mention to not soak in alcohol or flammable liquids. But I'm assuming this is only for the cap and condenser O-rings. Correct?

Or should i not soak ANY of the parts in ISO and just vape away?

i dont know if i would 'learn' to use a vapcap with kief and.. (anything)..

its not hard, but there is a little bit of technique to it. you might just end up wasting your kief trying to find your technique for your new toy

It's my first vaporizer, don't have any abv around... I'm a newbie here :D

Yeah I think so, but I'm like a kid when it comes to things like this... I really want to try it! haha
I guess I'll have to wait a couple of weeks before using it then, should be doable.

Thanks for your answers ;)

I prefer cotton as well. It doesn't have to be organic to work but the flipside is if it isn't organic there may possibly be pesticide residue, so you might as well get organic. Organic cotton balls easy to find online, and can be found locally at many natural foods/health food stores, and even some e-cig/vape shops carry organic cotton for making wicks.

I don't think cotton has a flavor on its own at normal vaping temps but if you get the temp too high and scorch it it can taste bad. It does seem to muffle the flavor a little and make it less pronounced compared to hemp fiber. Hemp fiber seems to have a subtle flavor that it imparts to your material, it's not bad but I like tasting the concentrates pure.

I also find cotton easier to work with. You can just tear some off instead of needing to use scissors or a knife. Cotton seems more absorbent as well and is less messy to work with in my experience.

Nothing wrong with using degummed hemp fiber, it do it occasionally myself for a change of pace. But the majority of the time I'm using organic cotton.

I do like using hemp fiber as a filter. I haven't filtered my VapCaps but I do sometimes filter my water pieces and it keeps them a lot cleaner and eventually collects a lot of potent reclaim.

Hiya @KingMetatron welcome to FC and congrats on your new VC! You have found the best resource for all things Dynavap. This thread is chock full of info, experience and funny stuff; there's also the "Best of" thread that is gold. Lots of really good folks here that are nice to newbies and willing to share their years of experience. Many questions have more than likely been asked before (probably in the last 50 pages). So while you're waiting on something to put in that beautiful M, I would skim these 760+ pages. When your ganga arrives, you'll be an expert! Not telling you what to do, just my :2c:

Most of the time my wife asks why I'm laughing, it's because I'm reading this thread!
