Looks like sic to me. You in CO? I partake of The Lab quite a bit when I'm n that neck of the woods.
I do not reside in CO. I do enjoy products of The Lab though ;)

Down to 565 with this SiC insert. Feeling foolish that I had it all along! I still have my invoice, the only note on there is "thank you!". As a first time customer and user of the product a heads up would have been nice!

Have a riptide bubble that I use on my 20mm. works great and i consider it better than either of the CCA caps I have.

I purchased locally so I went in and measured each one prior to purchase, but It looked like they would all at least seal(out of the 10-15 i measured), some of the longer ones may not really have any movement available once sealed though.

It's an obsession but it's pleasin'
My Riptide directional cap was delivered a couple days ago and I've really been enjoying it with the 20mm Liger. It's a fairly new design and I haven't seen it discussed here yet.

The regular riptide cap works great with the 20mm, its not the "chuggiest" cap I've used for it but its prolly the most consistent in its performance and finishing of the material. There is an example of them not fitting a liger due to manufacturing tolerances id suspect on the glass side. the bubble should work great with the 20 as the spout isn't long enough to be an issue but it def won't work on the 30

First off thank you but if you notice my question was specific. I'm aware of the things that you've mentioned. Again, thank you.

This is specifically for the bubble gordo riptide.

Second you were not very specific about "them not fitting" which them, the regular riptide you mentioned or the specific one I've asked about?

I've contacted both manufacturers and neither gordo or pukin got back to me. Business practices sure have gone to shit the past 20 years. I know that for a fact at least. Thank you again my friend, cheers!

No we're talking shop yo! Thank you. I wanted that longer flow tip because it gets closer in right over the errl. That's what I'm wanting. I was worried about it being to bukku, no black snake here, me no like to bukku!

Is it the bubble that you're referring to or the others?

Long time no see! I totally appreciate the info. Now I'm off to locate that Liger dimensions page. Cheers buddy!

anyone who is wondering about Obsidian, I just received this reply from support. No dm replies from Josh yet though:

I talked to the owner a few days ago he tells me they should be ready to be released in the next couple weeks. However..... I do see they marked it as packed. Ill make sure this gets fixed and shows NOT PACKED and will get you one as soon as they come in.

ya I should have ordered a backup insert! The 30 is just sitting there taunting me :) I even tried to take an old thermal bucket nail and see if that fit inside the 30 bucket, but it was just a bit too large.

finally gearing up to build the Liger review in the coming weeks when the obsidian lands. the new hurricane cap works so good on the 30mm that i've switched over from the 20mm for my daily driver. the longer dabber handle is awesome but it's too skinny to get a good grip for spinning the cap so i connected the master set handle with the finger saver tip and that works perfect while being about the same length.

just pulled the fattest rip i think i've ever gotten out of cca gear and the buzz punched right through my tolerance. you'll see the difference in cloud volume on terpy tuesday.

Any advice for cleaning a SiC insert other than what is on the CCA FAQ? I've been using SiC for about a week now, 2-3 Q-Tips per dab, and its also time to clean the glass and Liger. I haven't removed the insert yet but I'm assuming there is some slight build up the way the Quartz did as I think I overflow the 16mm sometimes (thinking about upgrading). I am not sure if I will be able to tell or not though on the SiC since its not transparent.

For the Quartz insert, the first time I cleaned it I soaked in ISO overnight which did nothing. Then I tried the method from CCA for cleaning it in the Liger at 225° F which also didn't do anything. Then I went back to the ol' trusty hand torch to quickly remove residue and have done the same each time I have cleaned it. I'm going to soak my Liger tonight. I'm had prior experience with Quartz but this is my first SiC experience which led me to wondering if there are any tips out there on how to clean the SiC. Can you even soak in ISO or lightly torch SiC?

CCA FAQ:
LIGER BANGER:
Simply disassemble the entire set-up; and allow it to soak in ISO (isopropyl alcohol) overnight. The next morning, dry everything off with a paper towel and Q-Tips.

If it has been awhile since you last gave your Liger a bath, you may find certain parts locked up with reclaim. Allow the Liger too soak for a couple hours, & re-try to disassemble by hand. If the locking nut got tightened to the point where it seems to be seizing, you may need a pair of pliers to help out. Before using the pliers, take a paper towel and fold it over 4-5 times. This will act as a barrier between the pliers and Titanium to help prevent scratches/imprints (grd 2 Ti is a soft metal and will damage fairly easily). Place the folded paper towel on the locking nut, then gently apply the pliers (be careful with the level of pressure applied: again Ti is soft), with your other hand grip the vapor bucket. Simply twist the vapor bucket with your hand until it breaks free.

INSERTS:
Use 2 Q-tips (both sides) after every dab! This is key as it will keep the insert very clean overall; just be sure to wipe/scrub before the oil turns black and starts to turn hard!

Consistent maintenance is key to cleaning the inserts as they experience the most wear-and-tear. When dabbing, keep your temperatures low: this way, you will be able to soak up the excess oil in the dish after each dab with a clean Q-tip. Temperatures that are too high will result in a dry, carbon “crust” building up in the bucket that can not be wiped out with a Q-tip.

REMOVING THE “CRUST”
Easiest and Most Efficient Way to Clean all Inserts:
  1. Find/Buy 2 eye-drop containers, fill 1 with distilled water & the other with 91%+ ISO
  2. With all your equipment installed (like you would have it if you were taking a dab), turn your E-nail down to 225° F
  3. Grab a stack of Q-Tips! You will need them handy for the next step
  4. Once the E-nail is at 225°, take your Distilled water dropper & carefully apply 1 drop at a time directly into the insert (Be-careful! It likes to quickly overfill!) {USE Q-TIPS IN CASE OF OVERFLOW}
  5. Once the water is almost finished boiling inside the insert, apply a single drop of ISO into the insert
  6. Scrub clean with your Q-tip before the ISO evaporates
  7. Repeat steps 4 – 6 as necessary. (I usually repeat it 2 or 3 times)
  8. Enjoy your perfectly clean surface!

Fill it with room temp distilled water, let it soak for like 20 mins, qtip. this works for 99.9% of my cleaning needs
for the remaining 0.01% torch it till its pink, will be brand new after a quick wipe.

oh and for quartz

some good info in the last 2 posts, regarding cleaning and devitrification.

This is solid advice. I've been doing it this way sine I first saw @ensabbahnur post that tip. It's incredible how the water in the insert just starts getting brown almost immediately. Must have something to do with the negative charge of the water attracting and binding to the dirt.

Wow, I use the water and ISO method from CCA710 and it works like magic. Got really baked one night and forgot to q-tip the insert and went to bed. Next day, the bottom of the SiC insert was sticky with carbonized reclaim. The water/ISO/200 F method worked brilliantly for me.

No site photos = no stock = no trust currently.

Based on the current goings on here... or should I say lack of it and in other places too. The Liger ship seems to be slowly sinking itself.

I do love my Liger, you know, the actual product. It's just a shame that the company cannot match the products same quality when it comes to conducting business correctly and ethically.

These are not personal attacks but just the goings on currently and it's unfortunate. Maybe someone's not focusing on what they should be and attempting to many other ventures at once but who knows for sure.

I know I'm over it all personally but I get bummed out seeing others not get what they should be getting to begin with. Not this make it right after the fact stuff. That's just a bandaid as I see it.

On another note my Liger has been cold for a few days. Luckily her friend Errl comes to visit again on Saturday and we'll all be back to situation normal! :freak:
