Just wait till you guys get adventerous and flip the EQ upside down and slide that thing into the downstem directly. Forget that elbow pack non sense...inverted EQ for the win!
Finally someone took my idea, the whip sucks so bad, with this method you get a direct draw no hoses to go through, wayy better suction. I have had no problem with the heater at ALL,nothing because my v4 is so light

whos idea?

works even better if you use a small bowl instead of the downstem itself to hold your drugs, as you can clear it as you would normally clear a bong. eitherway it seems to defeat any other method of using the device, thanks to the close proximity to the heater, smaller bowl size and lack of all this tubing business.

Why not just shove it up your ass? Please take that in the spirit it was meant -- a joke! :peace:

Hard to pinpoint intellectual property in cases like these

In either case, I wonder if Arizer and any of its employees have tried the Extreme in the fashion posted above. IMO, its not worth putting the heater under these kinds of stress conditions; its pretty clear to me that the Extreme isn't meant to be flipped over like this, more importantly the heater isn't designed to hold the weight as it does when upside down.

Its a hard sell to me that this is the best way to use the vaporizer. To each his own, just think its worth mentioning that there is some intrinsic risk involved in using the unit as such. :2c:

the electrician i like your idea of conservation, about the size of log-style stem bowl .05 gram. u can elbow pak half full or little less may b about .07 .08gram its all good tho

I don't know, the vape is pretty light, maybe I would support the end a bit with my hand to take the weight down a bit.
Using the extreme like this is basically an upside down vape exhale cloud. The heater on the Q is reinforced so I think this would be okay.

I thought of the Vapexhale upside down when I saw the vid. Maybe this trespasses Stone Monkey's IP.

I don't know, they seem pretty different to me. The 18mm size and upside down use seem to be the only similarities...

The Extreme is designed to be used bag or whip, the VXC is designed for this one purpose. Much different electronics and just very distinct units.

I don't mean to put down the use of the Extreme upside down, it clearly works for those that use it.

Agreed, of course, but SM's inspiration came from somewhere. It's not hard to connect the dots between a SG perc, EQV, and VCX. OTOH the guy who invented the wheel wasn't given credit for inventing the donut. :uhoh:

i dont advocate allowing the extreme to support itself, thats what your hands are for, with this in mind the operation becomes much the same as regular use with no more or less stress being applied. be careful and youll be enjoying the method for years to come. its not necessary to use it with a bong either but it will provide optimum conditions for taste, thanks to the all glass aspect

when it comes to fractional packing of the elbow, while it will afford some savings in product youre not going to be getting the most out of it; youre still packing an area thats too wide and too far from the heating element

thats pretty much the extent of the damage the air stream can do. if you had packed the elbow you would have a more shallow bed of weed; less is going to be heated and hence less vapour.
just measured the bowl, its dimensions are, more accurately 10mm in diameter and 5mm depth with a total volume 262mm cubed. if that means anything

those pictures are ancient but i should imagine that was 195C (383F). its not burnt but well done. if its higher quality ill use 175 (347) for that classic blue vapour and taste, lower quality and ill use 195 for those big hits. i fear the elbow being so far from the element requires the unit to be turned up higher than necessary to compensate for the slight cooling the air will experience travelling from element to elbow

bear in mind however im using v3, not the q so the temperature read outs are likely different.

It's fine when you hold it for sure, the new v4 is so light. Just get a disc diffused carbon filter and use it as a bowl to put in your downstem. That looks much better and allows maximum air flow.

Hello,

just a first post from a new convert... Bought my EQ in Amsterdam 3 weeks ago, haven't looked back since. I didn't vape before, but I knew about the concept for a lot of years now.

I've been lurking here for about a month in total, read most of this thread and some others too. Thanks everybody for the great discussions, I learned a LOT here!

About the EQ...
At first I was using just the cyclone bowl and thought the elbow pack was silly, but as time progressed I realized why you people like it so much, and nowadays I mostly just pack it that way (my herbs are nicer than when I started). I tried the balloons a few times, but felt a bit silly, and I'm a long time (weed) smoker and didn't feel right. The whip on the other hand is just great. I even MacGyvered a simple water filtration system on it using a Nescafe Frappe cup :D
All in all I LOVE the EQ, it's really a superb product!

A small question, did anyone weigh a normal elbow pack? How much is it? I'd gues 0.2g, but I could be wrong.

I'm supposed to get my MLFB later today, I had to order a backup vape, I cannot go back to combustion!
I'll post my impressions about the unit in that thread when I feel like I got to know it better.

Thanks again everybody, and let's vape together an elbow pack! :)

Welcome derp! I'd guestimate an elbow pack is a little less -- perhaps .10-.15g. I'm with you on bags. I preferred the Cyclone over the elbow when whipping but recently bought a bong and now elbow exclusively.

hey acehole. welcome to the club

I sold my precious E the other day :( waiting for my EQ to arrive. I've been getting by with my MFLB :ninja:

a full elbow pack is usually slightly less than 0.1g by my count. it varies depending on the strain and method of grinding

I am still too paranoid to try the electricians "heat wand method" is that what its called?
it was not designed to be used like that, one slip and its over. does the warranty cover obvious misuse? plus it just looks like a hassle to pack and unpack, and use while sitting down. we attempted to try it one day but couldn't get a screen finagled into the diffuser we had and gave up.

arizer should come out with a heat wand type deal.

im not so sure how you would go about slipping and breaking the thing, how do you expect it to happen, what part of the procedure seems dangerous? to me, if you can exercise caution enough to use a glass bong youre likely going to be fine using the method. pick up the extreme and slide the heater cover into the bowl, hold it in place while you take your hit and remove when youre done; there is minimal chance for disaster. at times the joint can get stuck and the bowl comes free from the downstem, attached the element, but this has caused me no problems. i should mention i do this with the heavier v3, with the lighter q there should be even less chance of danger

even if you did manage to break the heater cover it doesnt look (judging from pictures of the units inner workings) like it would be much effort to replace yourself

what is a nuisance is fitting the screen into the new bowl and making it stay in place initially (with some resin build up it becomes a non issue). that said you only have to fit the screen once as you can easily dislodge and clean it out when its dirty, putting it back in isnt an issue. considering this a significant drawback would be akin to using the high cost of vaporisers to dissuade from buying one, the savings you will make greatly outweigh the initial hardship.

packing the bowl couldnt be easier, using a small salt spoon measure out your dose and place it in the bowl, if youve got to stir then do so normally. of course it is the very bowl that im proud of, not the bong method so much, so ill plug (not in a suppository sense, sorry pappy) that link once again. i should work on a video of it in action, possibly tomorrow, perhaps that would help alleviate concerns

received my q 2 weeks ago...great investment...quick question in regards to cleaning...i only use the whip so far and love it... just wondering what to do with the goo that is collecting in the elbow part of the whip...im sure its good to smoke after all the killer bud going through it...but how would you go about it...smear some of the goo on some bud and then into the extreme Q?...i had heard of a buddy who smoked some oil in one he dropped it on a piece of cotton ball and dropped it in....he said it was great...looking for any and all advice. thanks

Can't stop the head rush!
Glad u like the elbow now pappy, had a feeling you would. Turned my vape on to 220 to warm it up quick buut forgot to turn it back down to 195 and now i got a sore throat and cant vape too much. Makes me wish i had my bub already, gunna be a while yet, or that i had waited another week to sell my bong.

Electrician i think u have a hot spot in that pic because u have the heater so close to the herb and the air path doesnt have enough space to adequately spread out and cover all the herb. Also i found that the v3 kinda did that after i got my Q which seems to roast the bowl very evenly, never need to stir. Have u tried narrowing the air path a little farther from the heater b4, that would be interesting. I definately second the nervouse to break it opinion, tried it one day and i was pretty scared haha. Would be sick to go all out and get a custom bong with a Q holder blown on it!!!! I dont really know if the Q is lighter, they seemed about the same weight to me, the Q is just a denser package. Never actually weighed them out though, but either way pretty close.

I would never burn a screen i vape with. I soak my screens in iso, give them a little rub with a pipe cleaner, rinse in hot water and they are basically brand new everytime.
