Well, I'm glad you finally showed what you are about with that post.

Reducing topic volume with evolving vocabulary, and understanding of shared concepts, is essential in modern communication evolution and discourse. It flows.

Very cute but very rude once again. I don't need you to translate. I choose my words deliberately.

I was engaging you in honest conversation and you have been condescending, sarcastic, and self-righteous. This isn't the first time you've displayed these characteristics. Not only that but your points are shallow and your thinking is short-sighted. Whether you are really this rude or are simply completely tone-deaf I will not be engaging you further. If you think this means you've won something then congratulations.

Of course unjust laws are meant to be broken. Are we forgetting how many horrible laws we have had and still have? How about when it was the law to be interned because of your race? What if you are denied your civil rights? Are you going to tell the truth and help that unjust law be enforced? Why would you be so damned prudish and spinelessly conservative?

Wouldn't it be fun if the US cancelled Trump's passport while he was in Mexico and the Mexicans confiscated it? Then he would have to stay there. I wonder how long he would last...

I have been trying to figure out why Trump is really doing this, and I can't come up with anything. What is it that he want to be able to say he said to them before this speech tonight?

Right, because he could have sent the bids on the wall in email... Or his preferred twitter, I guess...

This trip is all the press is talking about today and THAT is what Trump wants, i.e., mass press coverage. A classic photo-op.

The other reason is that it helps to present him as someone who can interface with the leaders of other governments thereby helping him to build his "presidential" image.

The bigger question I have is why in the hell is the President of Mexico meeting with Trump especially when one considers everything that Trump has said in the recent past in regards to not only Hispanics, but also Mexico.

Agendas need not be left or right, liberal or conservative, Democratic or Republican, progressive or regressive, factually or fictional. Agendas need only be pushed consistently according to the Goerbel's rule.

All agendas, however, are deeply rooted in ego. I see so much of it in the several forums I frequent for feeding my ego's ragadvesha (preferences, desires, interests, hobbies, don't wannas and gotta haves)

The most boring forum I frequent is devoted to religion and certainly has some egos, but they are mostly ignored so no drama.

The biggest failure of most political argument is in the realm of epistemology; a deeply lacking skill of logic.
The internet has worsened this intellectual poison.

Truth only comes from those I listen to, you know, like FOX News.
I know things that the MSM is hiding. True Americans believe untrue things to prove patriotism.
I know what was deleted because Lars Drudged through the Breitbart binders and Rushed the Savage news to Judicial Watch where decades of research has proved beyond a shadow of doubt that Hillery is the most qualified Machiavellian ever to run for the presidency.
She seems to be the perfect candidate for the tough-talking lawn-order guys (who will really miss Mexican gardeners and guacamole when the boxcars begin unloading at the border).

Oh, I know, I know, OH-OH, call on me.
El Presidente Enrique Pena Nieto needs to take focus off his plagiarism story and serious troubles in the southern states (sounds familiar).

While this is all true, it is NOT a good enough reason for him to do this today, the day he is to give a major address on immigration. I'm sure he could have changed the date if he wanted to, and he did not. He already had the full attention of the press. There is something specific he is trying to accomplish by doing this today, and I don't know what it is. I'm sure we will find out...

And, btw, Pena is getting eaten alive by the former President of Mexico in the press down there. Fox thinks he is making a big mistake. Remember, tho, that the two (Trump and Fox) have had some ugly exchanges...

I've heard the pundits talking about Mexico (I leave CNBC playing all day in the background while working).

One benefit a Trump supporter is expecting to come out of this is 'Trump proving he can meet with world leaders that we have a conflict with... WITHOUT RESORTING TO NAME CALLING and MAINTAINING A PRESIDENTIAL PERSONA'.

In other words - showing he can meet with world leaders and not embarrass himself or us.

Funny how these are not concerns for those who backed Obama or will be backing Hillary. Ok...maybe its not so funny.

Is anyone really expecting him to succeed at this?

It is really too bad this meeting is intended to be in private. I'm hoping it gets "accidentally" recorded somehow... :)

Didn't know this was going to be private. Maybe there will be a press conference at some point. If the meeting itself is private Trump will only have to show his new presidential demeanor in front of a camera without a back and forth conversation. Feels like a set up to me.

WTF didn't talk about the wall? Substance please! Again not much but smoking mirrors during the press conference from Trump.

Obama was in Mexico just 2 months ago and gave an eloquent speech about working together and helping each other.

Pena Nieto likes NFTA.

Originally Trump told America, "Mexico isn't our friend."

I really don't think the president of Mexico figured Trump would take him up on his offer right away, like he did. This was a hap hazard trip and just shows what a mess his presidency would be like. It was put together at the last minute.

Edit
Yes I guess they did talk about the wall but the most important part was who would be responsible for the wall. I think that is the elephant in the room. Trump talks big with bluster but he fizzles out and there isn't much substance left. He's a loud mouth tha likes to hear his own voice.

First he was full of insults to the Mexican people now he loves them. What a bunch of BS. He's groveling for their vote now just as with the black voters. He's pretty obvious with his afterthought that he wouldn't be able to win the presidency without their support. He needed his new team of players to tell him that.

He does a fair job at times reading from a piece of paper but he's like a bull in a china shop. He can cause a lot of damage in a short amount of time.

John McCain also won yesterday. We will see if he gets voted into office again in Nov.

So the press conference between Trump and the President of Mexico concludes with Trump having met first in private.

They did discuss the wall but not who would pay for it. Trump also laid out the four or five topics of importance. NAFTA, illegal immigration, etc.

The bar has been lowered significantly when a politician's optics are a win simply because he remained calm and on point.

Trump also walked back a series of past statements including his statement with regard to Mexicans in general who he described as wonderful hard-working people.

Trump has been walking back so many of his positions lately I'm amazed there is any shoe leather left on them.

EDIT: Lets be clear .... it was as close to a gimme as Trump is ever going to get. No debate in front of the cameras. Looks like they met in private and discussed how each would respond without animosity in front of the cameras followed by the usual presidential type photo ops. The ball was lobbed under-hand for an easy hit.

And in other news.....the primaries held yesterday conclude with Wasserman-Shultz and Marco Rubio winning their slots.

Geez...how bad could the competition have been if Little Marco and Wasserman-Shultz won after the way they (Insert sarcasm here) distinguished themselves during the presidential primaries? :(

Marco wouldn't even promise to serve out his term. He HATES being a senator and only wants to run so he can look like he has a job while he is running for President in 2020.

If Florida cares at all about having a senator, they better vote in Pat Murphey in November.

Two different accounts of discussing the wall. The president of Mexico said he told Trump Mexico would not pay for the wall. Trump said they didn't discuss the wall.:hmm:

In the past when Mexico said they weren't going to pay for the wall, Trump would say, "the wall just got 10 feet higher." Trump pretends to be a tough guy - he's a bluffer.

Edit
An ideological test to take to get into this country? Trump said, "if you don't love America you can't get in." Folks will just write in the answer that everybody wants to hear.

I couldn't stand George W. Bush but he looks not too bad compared to Trump..

America is going to get the president she so richly deserves. It is guaranteed whoever gets in will be so reprehensible they only inspire revulsion & disgust in any decent human being. Obama may not be that well liked in the US but he is greatly admired as a statesman by most Australians, that will never be said about his successor.

I did not need to read your full post to know what you are talking about @GetLeft. If anything it is the most accurate post in the thread I have read.
