Just received shipping confirmation from Fed-ex for my Herbalizer! I should say the link came from this video review of the vape:
And the purchase is through Green Flower Media who I was not familiar with previously.

she was my favorite reviewer. oddly enough, not a lot of reviews on youtube for these things. and most are a couple years old.

X2.
From experimenting with all temps/methods, IMO ice or extreme cooling is "going the wrong direction" from the best tasting, most effective, most efficient, easiest on the the throat/lungs vapor qualities.

The #1 "NEED" of all vapor is "MOISTURE" as it is all very very very dry. Maximum moisture addition is best provided by warm/hot water: the warmer the water, the more moisture transfer to the vapor.
Warm/hot water bubbler, with very small diffusion, very small can gives by far, the highest quality vapor---super super easy on the throat and lungs. Often the vapor even feels/tastes soothing / the opposite of harsh vapor.

I have to disagree with hot water or even warm water being smoother. It makes me cough almost immediately and it tickles my throat even when there's no vapour in the piece. It feels like there's hot pins jabbing my throat which is a terrible experience. I find that there's more than enough moisture imparted from the ice in my setup to make the vapour comfortable. I almost use ice every other day in my water pieces. The colder the better, for me at least.

Different strokes for different folks.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PS: Physics would say the colder vapour is more dense. There's no air entering the system besides through the Herbalizer so any air that is cooled must shrink and thus concentrate the vapour. This is what happens in a turbo charged car when you pass hot boost air (280*F -430*F) through an intercooler. Not only will the vapour be denser it will be lest likely to condense on your throat and cause the "tickling" that makes people like me cough. Yeah there will be some losses of vapour through condensation, but it's not that much unless you let it sit in the piece.
...well that's a more subjective question...all I can tell you, (as a user) is that I find the addition of the steamroller really improves and enhances the herbie experience...and I wasn't unhappy before...but this is better....by a lot.
I'll admit, it looks interesting to me (I'm a sucker for hydratubes) but initially, I didn't quite understand the need for percs and all if it's just a dry piece but...
I'm sure the steamroller cools down the vapor fine with all that glass to cool against. It would be like hitting the Evo with a dry HT...very smooth!
...has cleared that up for me! The dry Evo mouthpiece definitely has the best flavor in my opinion, but I just don't find it as enjoyable. The chug/feel of the water is part of the experience in my eyes.
Might sound weird but try putting the whip into the hydratube. Herbalizer doesn't create ultra thick vapor like the Evo (no metal basket and less radiative heat) but it can do massive clouds once it gets going. For some reason whips into hydratube or bubblers get me much bigger clouds then the hydratube right on top of the Herbalizer. I think it's because the vapor needs time to pool up in a chamber --it move out of the bowl very quickly, so with a direct draw situation it might appear to be thin vapor.
Oh damn. I just tried it and it felt more of an Evo-like flavor hit (if that makes sense?) with a pretty nice size cloud. While I like ratchet's adapter (big respect for the diy entrepreneurial spirit), I really don't like how it sticks to the hydratube and pulls the cool grip off the top of the bowl.
having used turkey and chicken bags for a couple years, these bags are decent quality. i'm going to use them until they start to leak or get sticky then i'll figure out how to set up my volcano solid valve stuff.
Right there with you. I'mma run the 2 bags mine came with into the ground before I have to make the volcano leap.
do you guys leave the lid open until it cools off or do you close it in between bowls?
.........................................................
I never close the lid all the way. I just slip a @Ratchett Herbie Song below the lid, so it leaves it open about an inch for air circulation/ to make sure the lid doesn't overheat/warp.
Lid closes enough to turn off Herbie but allows air to circulate.
Below pic: Herbie Song V1 and V2 and miniVAP Flexicone module which mates directly to a hydratube
Hello fellow Herbalizer users.
I have been using the Herbie with Ratchett's Song and a VapeXhale Hydratube for about 8 months now. I really enjoy the setup, however, I have read quite a few posts from members stating that a bubbler or bong attached with the whip is the best.
So, I have two questions
1) Is it worth it to make the switch over from the hydratube to a bong with a whip and Arizer elbow adapter? Is it noticeably better than the hydratube? and
2) If I were to buy a bong what about the D020-X from DHgate? Or is there a better piece for the Herbie?
Any and all feedback is appreciated!
it's day 3ish, my 2nd wake and bake.
i've been making a bag with .1 or a bit less and then shaking it up and making a 2nd bag at the same temp. both bags on exhale show a lot of vapor.
i read earlier about the vape not being as thick as with for example, my extreme Q, but i'm a bit confused as to why. when i vape at 377 with my Q, vaping again at that temp provides virtually nothing. why would the herbie not vape everything in the pot that typically gets vaped at 377 or below? it doesn't make sense to me that i can get 2 bags (which are about the same size as the chicken bags i've been using) , of vape at the same temp.
the vapor is very smooth compared to my Q at the same temp, and i'm taking big hits like i had 20 year old lungs again! :)
they always say that the Q is from 5 to 10 degrees less at the bowl than what shows on the screen so i figured if i loved the high at 377, i'll try the herbie at 377, 382, and 387. i have yet to get that happy, smiling, staring at the tv high that i'm used to getting with .1 to .2 of my several genetics.
i'm a bit confused and will be experimenting for a few more days. although i like this thing a lot, i'm not so sure that it's more efficient than my $150 Q.
i also found something on reddit about the original guys being forced out and other people buying up the business?? not much info out there. i need to fill out the warranty document but oddly enough if you go to - www.herbalizer.com/register - i get this
This really isn't required as it will shut off the heating element after a few mins of not being used. Just wait for the screen saver and then shut the lid. No need to be messing with the temp setting so often.
wtf?
Try higher temps. The EQ uses some conduction and radiating heat while the herbie is pure convection. Try 420, 430. It's still smooth!! Super efficient.
I know. But it keeps the cooling fan from running as long and I don't have to stay by the vape to close the lid.
Hi,
Long time lurker, and finally registered. New herbalizer user need some help. English is not my 1st language, please forgive my bad English.
I am not new to vaporizer. Had using 2 ExtremeQ for last 6+ years and my 2nd EQ failed 3 weeks ago. So decided to get a EVO. Then within 2 weeks, the EVO got some firmware issue and overheat time to time. had to replace the power cord to fix the problem. So exchanged (with extra cash) for a Herbalizer.
I had been using it for last 3 days and about 3 sessions a day. I guess maybe I got too high expectation on Herbalizer because I read on reddit and some other FC thread that Herbalizer should be better than EVO. But I kind feel EVO gave me better high. When I 1st to start to use EVO 2 weeks ago, I instantly feel the improvement over EQ and through out the 10 days I use it, I consume 20% to 30% less flower than EQ and get better high.
But when I 1st to use Herbalizer 3 days ago? I kind of disappointed. very thin cloud. I know the Herbalizer is not a cloud king like EVO. But the cloud is kind of too weak for me? I am on 435F. With EQ, I was on 455F and on EVO I was on 2 to 3 o'clock. So I am a high temp user.
I am not sure if I am doing it wrong or the Herbalizer is giving me a different feeling which I am not used to? The feeling is coming up slow but it seems eventually gets me there. But with EVO, I kind of get the "kick-in" feel and be there immediately. Also with EVO, it seems I used less flower to get me there, which contradicted to what I read on reddit or some other FC threads. Maybe I need to read the entire 290 pages of this thread....... but kind of feeling the $200+ extra is not very worth it. Hope I am just doing it all wrong.
BTW, I am on wipe only. and prefer wipe over bag.
Thanks
My main advice is to first off get wider / larger whip tubing for the Herbalizer because the one it comes with makes the draw force to be really slow and harder to get big clouds which get you high. I use the Herbalizer at 445 all the time. Do you have a bong you can connect it to? That can also help. The Evo gives thicker clouds but the Herbalizer heats up instantly and gets me just as high. Finely ground weed and lack the bowl half full. Then connect it to a bubbler or bong and hit it with the fan on.
Forgot to mention I'm already using the EQ whip with the Herbalizer, so I am not using the Herbalizer's original whip and mouth piece. The EQ tubing is 5/16 ID. It's not the SSV 3/8 ID but still way better than the original one.
Thanks
So I'm putting in an order at vapornation since I have a bunch of reward cash, and here's what I'm grabbing so far:
- Arizer elbow (the one for the EQ)
- Volcano solid valve kit
You guys have mentioned grabbing tubing from the 7th floor guys, correct? I don't see any straight tubing for sale that doesn't come with a mouthpiece or anything, but the SSV/Buddha tubing is what is recommended, correct?
That's the tubing, but I really like the stock stuff best, especially if you are going to use the arizer elbow. That thing is hard as fuck to get out of 7th floor tubing, but works perfectly with Herbie's whip.
today was my 5th wake and vake with herbie. i'm getting more used to it. still trying to find the right temp for me.
i vaped over 1.5 grams a day for the last 2 days. i was doing a gram a day. the increase is partly due to me chasing some kind of high i don't find so easily any more but i usually end up thinking - ok, i'm pretty high - . it just seems like less of a head stone than i was used to with some of my genetics.
i tried the hottest temp but even through my water tool it was a bit too harsh for my tastes. i find that i get decently thick vapor when i use .15 of a gram per bowl. that extra .05 thickens up the vapor nicely at 385ish.
i have been making a bag at, for example, 385, then shaking up the bowl and vaping another bag at the same temp. both bags provide nice vapor on the exhale.
i'm using 2 bags per bowl. both are pretty sticky and i'll be using the last 2 bags over the next few days.
i notice a bit of a leak at the slit in the mouthpiece but the bags themselves are doing fine.
i've been saving the ABV thinking i'll try it at night but haven't gotten around to it yet.
i've used the whip a few times, i prefer the balloons but the whip lets me taste the buds a bit better.
i think i'm going to break out my extreme q for tomorrow's wake and vake and see how it compares.
thanks for the input folks! :)
That's what I feel too. I have been using more bud than EVO and about same as EQ. too bad my EQ is broken so I can't do a side by side comparison. But with EVO for the 10 days, I consistently use less bud than EQ. I even notice I grind less everyday. and Kind of blame myself not upgrade earlier as the bud saving will recover the price difference in short time.
But with Herbei, I kind of do not get the kick-in feeling. When finish the a bow, I had to tell myself, give it few more minute and see if the feeling will come up a bit later........ And I get a more body high than head high too.
Now my feeling is like forcing myself to love the herbei more. a $500+ device should not do that.
Also the maintenance on the unit seems won't be as easy as EVO or EQ. with EVO and EQ, all the parts is either glass or pure metal. I use Salt and alcohol to clean those in no time and just replace the tubing. Once cleaned, it is like brand new. Especially the EVO, I don't use hyrdatube. so the Glass mouth piece will last long before need to clean. and I just soap the ELB in alcohol every night over night and it will be good next morning. But the Herbei's plastic bow? I am not sure how long it can stand up.
Still trying to love the Herbei, will get some new herb next week to try out. But again, the EVO made me fall in love instantly.
Hi guys I had a couple questions about the ratchet song 2.0 that I was hoping someone can help me out with. First I see that the side of the song goes down almost to the bottom of the bowl, does this make it hard to remove and take the bow apart to add herb? I medicate often and refill or shake up the herb a lot and I hate fumbling around with small parts.
Secondly if I were to get the minivap flexcone and basket, would the song 2.0 fit securely around it? Or would I have to continuously hold it down into the chamber?
Sorry if this has been answered I've searched through and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for
Thanks!
One more question. When I turn on the Herbei, the Fan will on for few seconds, then when heating up, the fan will be on again for the 10 seconds it was heating. Then during the session, time to time the fan will on too. However the fan's noise is not the same as the whip/bag fan's noise and kind of nosier. Is this normal?
Yes. The fan you hear is the unit keeping the temp set.
I use the miniVAP Flexicone almost 100% on Herbie and many other vapes. I love it !!!
I almost 100% use it "open face" style: Flexicone module sitting in bottom half of Herbie bowl. Top half never used/ never needs cleaning.
Hydratube will fit directly on Flexicone..
Another option is to snug Flexicone into Herbie Song and snug Song onto bottom bowl. With the Flexicone, I find no use for the Herbie top half of bowl.
Complete bowl with Song snapped on would be most stable but I don't need that level.
With Flexicone, bottom bowl and Herbie chamber never need cleaning .
V1 Song on left with shorter sides, Flexicone module resting in lower bowl, taller V2 Song on right.
Songs also provide for much firmer/solid whip connection than stock Herbie whip in stock Herbie top bowl.
