Discontinued The Grasshopper

Sorry, I forgot to continue what I meant to say. The Hopper doesn't perform at top performance, and can give results similar to what you're having. That said, I think it's pretty likely you have some defect. Seller prob didn't vape much anymore and thought it was junk.

It was BNIB. I thought the seller could have pulled a fast one and cleaned it to like-new condition, but there was even stainless steel milling debris around the holes, and it looked and smelled brand new.

Yeah my understanding is if packed full and tight, vapor production is minimal cuz it restricts flow of hot air. Less is more with the hopper.

Definitely true! I experimented with smaller loads, with better results, but super intermittent! One time I was like woah, I did not expect such a nice blueish cloud, and watching my girlfriend hit it looked impressive, but she's an ultra low temp vapist. I stuck to 4 or 5 on temp, doesn't seem to produce much on less than that, and it's almost painful trying to extract to get the clouds.....feels like i'm inhaling on alot of HEAT but not much VAPOUR.

It MUST be defective. I see no other alternative. If it isn't, I would be extremely disappointed in the temperature range, and I still don't see mine hitting anywhere close to 210c. If my replacement GH, or parts give me the same performance as I have now, it's simply not for me. 99.9% sure that this isn't the case, and at least i'm really hoping it isn't!

For now i've tucked it away, because using it is too frustrating. I love EVERYTHING about this vape! It IS a GAME CHANGER. Even the battery life i'm okay with now because it mainly depends on your usage pattern. If it worked the way it's supposed to, i'd be a very VERY happy vaporist!

Caroline got back to my warranty request promptly, although without action...just that "we'll get back to you shortly and tell you what to do", guess that a tech/engineer needs to look at my defect report. For now i'll have to comb the bowels of the thread for backers with similar issues. Really sounds like it could be the dial? It doesn't seem very responsive.

Is it true that GH will send you a part first before you have to send anything back? That would be awesome!

Usually that's the case @biohacker :)
Mine is on the way to me so not too long. From reading your posts it does sound like your gh is faulty. The only time I feel like it's hot if I honk on it at 5 dry. Hope you get a strong workhorse of a hopper back !
Soon when someone orders they will ship next day or that day.everyday is a day closer :)

Thanks man! The anticipation is ridiculous now..... I haven't been so excited for a vaporizer like this in a very long time! Kudos to GHL for easing the pain by usually shipping parts out first!

You sound a little conflicted. It hard to imagine something convincing you that it's the best thing since sliced bread when it doesn't even work.
My guess is that you may have one of the first Grasshopper knock-offs. Maybe that'doctor/engineer is making them in his basement?

If I may ask @biohacker , how long have you been waiting until you receive order?

@Harmoniousliving fingers crossed that this day is getting closer. I know smeone that has ordered the GH as in pre-order, same country as mine, and the guy is still waiting delivery(1 yr+).
So I suppose that if this vaporizer is sooo sooo good, which I hope it is, then the manufacturer should hire some extra personnel to be able to keep up with the fast pace at the beginning.

Anyway, let's hope that this was just a case and not a decrease in quality due to heavy workload.

I feel sorry for you man @biohacker. All this waiting and patience, and you get a faulty item.

He wasn't a backer that was waiting. He purchased his unit from eBay.

Do you have stainless or ti?

Stainless!

Not eBay, but an online classifieds site. The OG purchaser paid into indigogo in Dec/13.

Nice conspiracy theory, but highly doubtful.
Highly doubtful?
It's common knowledge that (some) Chinese regularly rip off tech that's being produced in their own factories, the vaporizer being a popular target these days.

btw, I was being facetious, though the day is not far off...

I bought two gh from people who had ordered
Are you able to register for warranty? How does that work, if warranty is not valid beyond original purchaser?

Those people, sorry to say, but they're nooooobs!! (which is great for u )
I would call those people, generally, opportunists. There are reports of $500 Hoppers on Ebay, and of them selling at that price. These were purchased originally at backer pricing, so somebody's made a tidy profit.

While you are correct about vapes being copied by Chinese manufacturers, it is highly doubtful that they would be able to reverse engineer this multi sourced part vape at this stage, especially their 3D printed heater design.

It could also be the material that you're using. Have you tried the same amount of the same herb in a different vape to compare clouds?

My seller basically changed all the info to mine in the online account, and the invoice of backer $100 price is also in there. So now it's like i'm the OG owner. A page or two back somebody mentioned that there wasn't an issue getting a 2nd hand GH warrantied. My serial is 10XX FWIW.

Vaped up the ABV (GH temp 5) in my Crafty on 210c and had some incredibly big clouds. It's definitely not the material. I'm thinking potentiometer at this point, the temp just doesn't seem like it's there.

Who says a knockoff has to have a 3D printed heater? And besides, ripping off a digital program that runs a printer isn't as hard as creating one...

It's naive to think that a product that has been in various stages of production in China for years has not been ripped off to some extent. They don't need to re-invent the tech, just steal it.

I think you should do some more reading on the topic. Only some parts are sourced from China and they are 100% being assembled in Colorado. Without the 3D printed heater, which is made in the USA, the Grasshopper would not have the almost instant heat up time. I stand by my previous statement.

So, how many people are on this "pre-order" list? If I wanted this thing how long before I got it? How reliable is it? Is it more reliable than the "Indica", (I'm still waiting on that. "I've been told I can't call a "spade a spade")?
Thanks in advance.

My hoppers arrived! First impressions: they turn on and heat up!!
The clips, as others have reported, are redesigned. Probably to not spread open, as the seams from earlier iterations are gone. The clip's sleeve does hang over the body edge just a bit when fully tightened. A tad annoying, but I really don't care. The SS hopper's clip rests further from the body than my Ti's clip. Like an eighth of an inch away...I unscrewed the backend and tried to bend the clip a bit towards the body, and the clip's sleeve definitely wiggles on the backend. I don't need it popping apart, so I left it alone.

I'll report back after use.

So excited!!

EDIT: it appears the "double screen" from earlier iterations is back. I look in the bodies and I see silver screens, and I can see the blue screen underneath that one. Let's hope material doesn't get stuck between!

They can easily copy the form factor but not the interior tech, that could be enough to sell a counterfeit to the uninformed. Getting a knockoff or a poorly functioning vaporizer seems to be a part of the beginning journey for almost all vaporists anyways....it's how you learn which vaporizers are right for you, there is no one true answer to that, it's all usually from experience, and you learn more from a bad one. My opinion....

Could you share photos of the changes? Interior screen might be tough, but outer clips?

Load size is important. About .2 seems to work best. I just fired it up on 3.5. I took a draw for about 5 seconds to charge the load, then took a longer 10 second draw. Doing this produces consistent results so far, big clouds, after 3 long draws (clicking off in between) the load is spent, nice toasted colour.

I would be interested to know how its possible for me to see the LED when I look in the mouth piece when its on? I know the heater is only 4mm thick but I was under the impression it is solid?
