So the Imag3 uses the exact same mouthpiece as the imag+? That's a huge disappointment, because it's the shitty mouthpiece that I'm trying to get away from. I can't wait to try Ed's mouthpiece whenever it becomes available.

Why is it shitty, it locks in.

Don't grind. Make sure the herb is a little wider than the oven so you have to use a tool to pack it in.

You've got some nice vapes the Imag isn't really much of a competitor against them.
As ataxian says, vaporizers are just heaters.. I'll try a nuggy later, I really wanna like the +

I hear you, I really wanna like the 3 but I am just disappointed at how much herb I have to load. And how wispy these max temp hits are.

I'm going to buy some extra screens today and remove the one built into the mouthpiece on the +. I'm going to place it over the oven alone and see if it reduces resistance and increases airflow because as of right now its no better than the Air I just sold for that exact same reason.

I don't expect it to perform like my Crafty but there's no reason it should be this hard to pull from.

Because it breaks entirely too easily and it costs $10 + shipping to replace. This is a widespread issue that has been well covered in this thread.

I'm not so sure of that. If it's widespread it doesn't seem to show up much? A search of 'broken' gives 18 hits, mostly for battery/other problems? 3 seem to relate to the MP. Two from a guy (mmenzie) who says his is broken but he still uses it "4 out of 7 days". The other referencing a message from the maker over 14 months ago saying they'd changed the design because guys were putting them in their pockets assembled and so on:
http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/imag-plus.15520/page-10#post-671869

I don't recall this being an major issue (and I've read the entire thread). For sure mine is plodding on without issues, do you have one that broke? If it's a chronic issue I'd expect more posts and action from the maker before now? How many Members have had one bought in say the last year break? TIA.

I had the + and remember facing said issue, that issue is fixed but the mouthpiece sucks to me because the flattened tip makes it hard to be universal.

Thanks. So breaking is no longer an issue with the new design (as of a year or more ago)? Cool.

I agree, it's not my first choice in shapes either, but nobody asked me my opinion so I can't blame them. They made that decision based on what they saw as important I guess. Perhaps a second version (same mounting, different shape) is in order.......or maybe Ed will save us with something very nice as he so often does?

It's a rapidly changing marketplace......generally a good thing for change and innovation. Good designs will be improved, bad ones eliminated, in due time?

i don't think the screen is what slows down the pull.
try inhaling directly from the chamber, without the mouthpiece, when it's off.
exactly the same.
what makes it slow is the 2 air holes.

Hey guys - Here are some pics of the screen as promised.

0dfOJyI.jpg

Device on but not yet set to heat up. Pressing the main button three times will have it warm up to the set temperature of 410F chosen by me.

Warming up - The number on the right increase as it reaches it's target temperature.

25-30 seconds later it's all ready to go.

I see have some expressed concern about the airflow. My only worry was using the Imag 3 in conjunction with the bullet since you're essentially adding yet another filter to the stream. I've not yet had a chance to use the Imag with it, however with the New Years festivities in two days, i'll be sure to give it a whirl and let you all know how it goes.

With that said, if you liked the Imag+, you'll like this new piece as it's superior in many ways. It's lighter, has a much better battery indicator, it allows you to choose and experiment with different temperatures, and the iBullets can be used as convenient herb carrying pouch until the verdict is made by a larger audience to see if it's detrimental to the airflow.

Got my V3 today too. Any tips on cleaning? Can I soak the mouthpiece, bullet in 91% ISO? Can I also use a earbud soak with ISO to clean the chamber? After that I will do multiple runoffs when it is done charging. Sounds right?

oh it also comes with extra MP in V3. Whats not to love. will try out after I know how to clean it. Afraid to actually use ISO as its china plastic..

Has anyone tried taking a dremmel tool or drill bit and opening those holes up more?

you try it ;)

personally i don't find it lowering my experience.
it still pulls whatever fumes that are there.

but i haven't used many vaporizers so cannot say if it actually make any limiting effect on the high itself.

The Crafty has spoiled me. Nothing I've tried comes remotely close to it, especially the way it draws. Almost no resistance whatsoever. It's an amazing piece.

I sold my Arizer Air because of draw resistance. It tasted great but too restrictive.

The Flowermate v5s didn't impress me either but this Imag has potential it's just restrictive. Feels like sipping a straw in a thick milkshake.

I may take a drill and open the holes up to see if it increases airflow.

I guess i have to be happy within my price range ;)
anyway, i kinda like the restricted airflow. don't bother me that much.
but take a good look inside before you drill.
there are 2 holes on the outside, but only ONE inside.
don't don't WHY they restrict the air flow.
but it only lets ONE hole flow air inside the chamber itself for some reason.
i wonder why they do that.

Because when they tested it that's the configuration that worked best? They're not dumb. They're sure to have tested different designs. And are not likely to use a poorer performing design over a better one, they want happy customers. Makers will look for what best works for the largest part of the customer base, in some cases personal preferences can modify what's best for an individual of course.

In general, restriction is put in to limit airflow. Fighting it means you're pulling too hard.....back it off a bit. Drawing cold air into the load robs heat from vaporization since that heat now must be used to heat that air. Unlike blazing where more air means more fire means more heat available for vaporization (not less). And the extra air dilutes the vapor. The available power can only make so many mg of THC vapor per minute, pulling harder makes less THC available, not more, it's just more dilute.

If you want more dilute vapor (watering your Bourbon.....), you're better advised to take fresh air in next to the MP rather than through it. That way you not only get full THC vapor production but the diluting air isn't heated.....you get a more potent, cooler hit that way.

yea, that's what i thought.
again, i don't have a problem with it.
it's just that Deano wants to DRILL in it, so i guessed people don't like slow flow.

i agree with what you say, and enjoy the slow flow a lot.

it's just that Deano wants to DRILL in it, so i guessed people don't like slow flow.

You remember the story of Orson Well's "Mercury Playhouse" radio show War of the Worlds?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_War_of_the_Worlds_(radio_drama)

It caused widespread panic when, despite several 'disclaimers' that it was only a story, folks thought it was really happening. There's a side story of a hard working Western farmer sitting on his porch supervising the sunset after dinner. The wife, doing dishes and listening to the radio, came screaming out of the house shouting 'The Lord's destroying the world! The Lord's destroying the world!'.

Our seasoned farmer reflected a moment and replied "Well, it's his, ain't it?".

I suggest Deano deserves the same freedom? Hopefully he finds what he wants, or at least doesn't wreck his Imag trying. It is his call to make........
