Glad you've taken to vaping. Much better scheme, saves a lot on bud costs and doesn't kill you as fast. More money, better THC experiences and a longer life to enjoy it in? Not bad........

Soon you'll learn that using the 'clouds' as a measure is not a good idea really, it's a hold over from blazing. You don't need smoke to get off......

For now, your 'problem' is one of heat. The SS bottom of the stem is robbing heater power from the load (so it doesn't make vapor like before). It is a true heatsink (relative to glass). The 'fix' is more steam. I run my Ed's stem a step or even two hotter on Solo. I suggest you try that?

Good luck with it, as you already know it's worth sorting out.

If you need a cheap wpa and have an 18mm female bong @Ratchett 18-14mm silicon adapter works great with the stock stems!!

Edit: it will work with 14mm female if you squeeze the adapter together and push it in. Would also work with 14mm male and also 18mm male!

The Air is well built just like the Solo so it should last you a long time. With the new baby you will want to save some money. If you've gone back to smoking, you know how fast your product goes up in smoke. Vaporizing definitely saves money on the cannabis budget.

You know your vaked when you get your threads mixed up - I thought I was in the Air thread. I use the Solo more than the Air. I go through PIU quite a bit because of the price and customer service.

Hey man how well does the Solo and steven's torus KO go together? Much restriction? And i assume little or no vortex right? Cheers :)

The o-ring just keeps the stem tighter in place. Some like the looseness of the stem such as myself. The company intended the Solo's stem to rock and swivel the way it does. Some Soloists don't prefer their stems to be loose because it's easier to drop. The glass stems seem to be more fragile than the Enano's IMO.

You really get a lot of bang for the buck with this unit. I'm sure you will really enjoy it. Always remember tooooooooo Fuckcombustion:rofl:.

I choose not to use an o-ring. The units don't come with them you add one if you want. PIU just sends them out as a courtesy because they have good customer service. You may want to use one or not. I like to move my stem around when I use my Solo. That's one of the reasons for the big clouds the Solo is known for.

@sundaddy do you need a stealth unit that's really portable?

If you do then the Air would be perfect. I couldn't resist I had to get one. I bought mine when Arizer first advertised them for $199. during the Black Friday sale.

This was before they added the battery indicator. I don't have one with mine. I was a bit bummed about that, I didn't want to buy another one just because of that.

I used it for the bent stem to keep from spinning.
No need now but if you do use it be careful when you screw top back on to tight and the tabs on the bottom where the screws are most likely will break.

If stealth is important then the Air will help
You will need 2 batteries to match the Solo battery.
To me they both have the same draw restriction. I do like the Air black tipped stem for water(14mm) and to use with the Solo though.

@OF uses it so that the bent stem doesn't swivel to the opposite end while he savors his hits. @ataxian and I use it so that our stems don't fall out because we're pretty clumsy. You can still rock the stem with the oring installed but it will restrict the draw somewhat I've noticed. I don't particularly care about the draw restriction, care more about not having my stems launch themselves at the ground like that was the intended target :rant:

More important aftermarket modifications lie in stuff like hooking it up to a bong or trying various screen configurations (screen at the bottom, dome screen, reverse dome screen, flat dome screen taking up 1/2 the stem, etc). You're probably gonna ask about oil at some point if you didn't already, wrap it a bit of 100% cotton (organic/clean no chemical cotton preferred) or rayon (reconstituted cellulose, my favorite wicking material for my ecig and vape oil applications). Or layer it in some bud.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to vape some absolutely delicious terpene-riddled XJ-13 and some XJ-13 flower rosin :drool: :drool: :drool:

I've been using my solo for 2 years now! Loved the performance, but needed service repeatedly -- though PIU came through like a champ -- and lots of parts in the way of PVHEGoG / power adapters / chargers.

I had been using a brick power adapter and not the battery for months, and it died right before my solo's battery; PIU sent me a new 'charge and heat' model. I have heard lots of people claiming I shouldn't do that, but I didn't know for months. I've quit using it while plugged into the charger, and it's now really annoying to keep it charged. Is there truth to this?
