So I ordered my Nibbler XL! Any tips/hints/musings on how to use it? I've read about lubing the o-rings but what lube is best? I prefer AquaGlide but that might not be right for this application. Lube aside, anything else I should know about?

Also, has anyone heard about when the 7.4v KISS carts and the OPHOS KISS carts will be back in stock? Is that part of whats been held up by customs? I'd like to try the 7.4v on my Persei and the OPHOS carts just look better than the Omicron KISS I have on my OPHOS right now.
Fill to bottom of uptech logo...apply vaseline to orings, get faded! The 7.4s rock, but burn out super quick. Be prepared to rebuild.

I never lube the o-rings. The 2 down o-rings are just for fun ! The only important is the upper, I remove and re-install in the groove the upper o-ring and it fits each time to the inside Nibbler, no need lube.
Push and turn the Nibbler at the same time.

@ED421 @Vapvap The lube extends the life of the rings, as well as providing a better seal. Especially if you use aftermarket rings, as many of us do. You do not HAVE to use it, but it absolutely helps if you do!

Push and turn is right tho. Both when putting on and off. Always twist right to tighten, so you don't lose the lid inside it.
Good catch vap ..... I totally forgot.

So, I got my wire and ceramic wicks from KidneyPuncher.com today. First i must make it clear: THIS IS NOT A MOD. This is an experiment and I will be using this unit as a back-up only. I decided to try to rebuild my 7.4v KISS that died ( or more correctly, I killed it). For this experiment, I used NiChrome 80 wire 32awg. For the length of wire that I used the final cart resistance is 3.8Ohm. The wicks come in 1.5"'lengths so I cut what I needed (7mm) using a razor blade and a tap from my pliers.

First step is to remove the center contact. I used my thumbnail, but a small eyeglass screwdriver works too. Be careful not to puncture the white insulator.
IeGnjSs.jpg

Next remove the white insulator with a toothpick or eyeglass screwdriver. Again very careful with the insulator. After the insulator is removed the ceramic cup will come out.
nrdFick.jpg

Next I took the small piece of wick and wrapped the wire around leaving a long enough tail to work with. This was my first try and I was able to get 5 wraps around the wick without the individual wraps touching each other. You should end up with long enough legs on the coil to thread into the housing and white insulator. I tried to have a sharp bend in the wire where it comes off the coil.
JERPOCE.jpg

Next, place the coil back into the ceramic cup being careful to have one wire going into each of the two outside holes leaving the center hole open. Then place the white insulator over ONE wire and the other on the outside. Gently press the insulator in place until it is seated. Now you need to cut the legs flush with the white insulator. If there is some wire protruding that you can't quite cut you can tuck it behind the insulator. Be careful not to tuck excess in to wrong side of insulator.
7Geqdhy.jpg

This is the finished product. It can and should be verified with a multimeter. Mine was 3.8Ohm. Verify there is no direct short. The wick starts out dark add I did not clean the cup first.

This thing fires very fast. And definitely does NOT taste as good as it did when new. But again, this is now a spare instead of garbage.

This was surprisingly easy but tedious and time consuming. I have much respect to anyone cranking these things out for a living:clap::clap::clap:.

I am actually hoping my okeanos kiss dies again so I can rebuild it. Pissed I threw the dead one away! Thanks to everyone for the info on rebuilds. Now I just need my orders to arrive so I can start rebuilding.

Fucking mailman. Lol

Funny, I threw away the first one that I burned out too. I forgot to change the voltage on The Core before letting it rip.:rip:  I ripped it apart to see what makes it tick, then tossed it.

@DieHard I have thrown a few away actually. I disassembled all of them to see if the design process changed at all...I too am a curious son of a bitch. Seriously mad at myself for not keeping them.

@Caligula I finally gave in and bought the teflon tool set. Excited!

FYI I used one of my tools to scrape at rough and hard stuff like metal screens and what not. The teflon coating on the very edge of the blade wore off because of that.

The tool still works as well as it ever did AFAIK, but just FYI... dont use it like a cheap poker.

I have plenty of stainless ones for that! Thanks for the tip. I probably would have ended up doing the same at some point. Shit, I'll probably get all high and end up doing it anyway. Better save the link....

The wiring on my Okeanos Kiss cart came off 1 on each side of the ceramic rod so it heats up at the very edge with it, tried putting it back together but still having trouble. I'll probably dismantle it to try and fix it later tonight. Meanwhile, gotta go back to those old ceramic kiss carts until new okeanos carts are available.

Any update on customs?

Try switching the center pins...the okeanos one has an airhole.....I think it might let a normal cart work if you switch it.

I tacked an SS kit onto my nibbler order so I could mess around with extra batteries and such. I have 4 AW 18650's, can I stack them all together? What battery configurations are people using?

Do not stack them all together, you will damage your W9Tech products.

You can stack a maximum of 2 AW 18650s together, but make sure you use the adjustable spring plate to adjust so that the spring isn't being completely compressed, but rather the batteries should be resting on top of it. The spring is designed so that if there is too much power (in the event of a hard short) the spring will collapse and the batteries will drop in the tube disconnecting them from the persei top protecting you and your equipment.

Oh crap, I meant I have 4 18350's not 18650's if that makes a difference. I'm wondering about the "lightsaber" configuration I've heard about. Anybody feel like listing "safe" combinations of batteries for the Persei and SS kit?

The wand/lightsaber is two stacked 18650s

Thanks. I just was poring through the back pages of this thread and found where I saw it but you beat me to it. I guess I'll have to get another 18650 if I want to look like a Jedi.

I just got my persei. It's used. I have a question. Is the blue light in the top supposed to be completely off or dim blue when the button is not being pressed

When you stack batteries you effectively add the volatage of each battery (3.7 + 3.7). So safe combos would consist of 2x 3.7v IMR batteries, which would provide a total of 7.4v (I.e. 2x 18350 or 2x 18490/18500 or 2x 18650).

I have to say, after using it a bit, I really like the Okeanos. I know I cheated and put it with my T1, I also installed the 3.7v heat core into my spare T1 body, so I can swap between herbs and oils easily. Over all, I find it easy to work with and maintain. Its helped me rekindle my love for battery vapes as I have been venturing out into other territories for a while now with flame vapes. Its nice to be back around. I am looking forward to seeing the other innovations UP Tech comes up with!
