The Cloud EVO Anticipation Thread

I think everyone is pretty much in agreement on this, including VXL. The disagreements are mostly over the understanding of the complexities of a crowd funded campaign, then pre-orders, then previous owners of no longer produced product # etc....

Crowd-funding is 100% funding of ideas and promises. No one is buying anything, it's not a purchase. That's the point people seem to miss with this model. It's 100% "funding" and a promise of a perk. Too many people approached IGG as if it were pre-ordering an XBONE off Amazon.com.

It's a risk. There is a real possibility for any crowd-funded campaign that after funding is secured, they fail to deliver the promised project result or perks. The money is spent, the game is over, the net result is zero. That is the risk built into the model. The contributors hold all the $$ risk. The balance to that risk is the promised perk reward.

There is an understanding, an actual consent to the concept that everything could fail.
Sorry I missed the fine print, ...
Are you telling me that I risked $500 if the campaign didn't work?? Because money was upfront. Right????
Man, I consider myself a blind follower now. Thanks karma and good vibes Vapexhale team and StoneMonkey55 for their honesty and good ethic work.
Man, I remember how crazy was Cloud launch and I was bankrupt at that time to help them. I didn't hesitate a moment this time for the EVO. I even used my friend name and CC because I share my bank account, hard to explain $500 on VAS :)

My waiting anxiety is killing me and my stash :) @lwien will be horrified at my rate...
I bookmarked at my home screen iPhone the direct link to FedEx tracking :)
Every 5 minutes I open it and gets worst :)

This is not me being against vapexhale because there shipping things out as we speak and everything is hunky dorry. but you guys (people talking here being so non objective) haven't fully read the terms and conditions on website like that. campaigns make legally binding contracts in regards to perks. The financial burden is not on the contributor, just the due diligence to collect or take civil action.

You agree:

  1. All Perks must be lawful and otherwise comply with this Agreement.
  2. To fulfill all Perks and to respond promptly to all questions and comments regarding Perks. If you are unable to fulfill a Perk, you will work with the Contributor(s) to reach a mutually satisfactory resolution which may include, without limitation, issuing a refund promptly.
  3. Indiegogo is not liable nor responsible for the fulfillment of Perks, the failure to fulfill Perks, the quality of the Perks and as otherwise disclaimed or limited by this Agreement.

I never knew they were legally bound to promptly answer questions regarding perks ;)

fun fact if you get indiegogo involved in any lawsuit you have to pay for all of the costs they incur aha :) the full terms and conditions are written so ironclad to get them to be not involved in anything, but it definitely favours contributors over campaign owners.

How do I go about fixing this? ...any help would be greatly appreciated, weather tips from users who have dealt with FedEx before, or from VXL.
After 3 calls to FedEx today in regards to changing the shipping address and speaking with 3 different reps they made it quite clear that the recipient can not change the shipping address. Only the sender can do that. So I contacted VXL through the support portal earlier today and received a reply back from them about an hour ago stating that the address has been changed (from a PO Box to my physical address). Hopefully the address change will show on the FedEx tracking website soon to put me at ease. Once again VXL's customer support rocks!

I'm thinking open a personal account with FedEx, sign in and use that tracking number. I just went through this with some high dollar Rum being delivered where it required a siggy. Re-direct worked just great.
Thanks! This was the kind of help I was hoping for  But, I opened up an account with FedEx just now, and signed in, then proceeded to the tracking section, etc...and I'm still presented with the same greyed out options  Anyone else who has had there item shipped recently from VXL that has had it redirected, how did you do so? @2 Paces, I know you posted about having your shipment redirected to your place of work as well...have you attempted this yet? Also, you posted this:
Check the tracking at Fed Ex. I just checked mine and it said this on the tracking page:

"A signature is required for this shipment. If you’re not going to be home, you can easily redirect it to a FedEx location for convenient pickup."
and I clicked your link, and I see where it says "A signature is required......." On my tracking link, in that same spot where yours says a sig is required, mine says "Let us tell you when your shipment arrives. Sign up for delivery notifications ->"

In fact, these are my "shipping facts"

And, here are your "shipping facts" from your tracking link @2 Paces
Shipment Facts

I wonder why your package gets a signature required and mine doesn't?

Edit* looks like I'll be best just calling VXL, or emailing them, and getting things squared away that way...

Id love to hear what other might suggest as the best way to go about taking care of this, as I am in the same boat.

I am wondering when I receive my email from vxl (which is going to be a while- im just preorder 3 weeks ago), should i call/ email them right away and tell them I need to update my shipping address from a po box to a non po box address?

It would be awesome if a vxl team member could chime in and give us the protocol to remedy this situation if it arises...

thanks

I received my e-mail late last night and I was a last-minute Early Bird contributor. I'm from Alberta, Canada and it says my package (Bent neck w/ case, 3.5lbs) should arrive next Friday!

I have an inkling I'll be at work when the FedEx driver gets to my house though. Hopefully that doesn't cause too much of an issue if true. If all goes well, a week from now I'll be learning to fly around the clouds!

Yikes! I didn't realize my quote would turn into a link! Uncool. But Deadshort480 had no sig required like you, so maybe they vary person to person.

Anyway, I called Fed Ex earlier, but they said they couldn't change it until the package had been entered into the system. I asked if I could change the address once that happened, and they said yes.

But to be honest I won't believe it until it is done. I have had very bad luck with Fed Ex giving bad info. I will try again tomorrow to change the address, but so far they won't accept any changes.

Sorry to expose that! :uhoh:

And yeah, the fact that either VXL isn't specific with FedEx in telling them that all of their EVO shipments require sigs, or FedEx is being negligent and not setting up the shipments correctly. Looking and comparing your tracking info with mine (again, sorry) yours has different "stats/facts" than mine...kind of odd.

No worries, thanks for letting me know!

I reported it, so hopefully a mod will get rid of it.

I just logged onto Fed Ex. It looks like they have my package in the system now. To re-route costs $, but to have it held at the Fed Ex office is free.

So I need to decide between driving for two hours or spending $ to have it go to my work...

Does it cost money even if you have VXL do the re-routing?

Not sure. I didn't go through the whole process yet (I'm going to wait until that link is disabled ).

I remember a few years ago I re-routed a guitar from home to work that was coming to me by Fed Ex, but because the addresses were close they didn't charge me. It will be the same address change now, so maybe it won't cost me. I know the same truck goes to my house as my work, so it makes sense that it would be free. Maybe they only charge if it's a major address change (?)

So I'm not going to bug VXL unless I have to. I'll post when I know the outcome...

Hmm, interesting! I was also last minute and haven't heard anything. I'm going to stop trying to reason about shipping order since it won't make it arrive any faster and I trust those guys.

Oh well. I'm just enjoying my last moments of not knowing what it's like to have a Cloud/Evo.

It can't be THAT good right? ;)

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right
Mine is scheduled for next Fri (11/22). Does it really take a week to get across country?

After the delivery date was posted I was able to reroute to FedEx office online (until Del date posted re-route option was grayed out). The office is across the street from work so I can just take a break and slip over and pick it up. Hope I don't suddenly get stricken with "food poisoning" and have to go home early ;)

I'm holding off for now too, to see if someone can be at my home location to sign for me. I'd rather do that at this point that create more potential hassle for myself/VXL. It's headed somewhere, if I can get someone to be there too, that's good enough for me.

When I go to the FedEx tracking site and click the "Customize Delivery" button, I am given this:

HOApjzr.png

Which clearly shows the option to "Deliver to Another Address" is greyed out. Also, even if it weren't greyed out, it shows that it is an option that costs extra.
Just a FYI: 18 hours after my shipment entered the FedEx system the "Customize Delivery" option is finally now functioning for my tracking #. Being curious I went through the process (without finalizing it) and found out that the cost is $5.00 to redirect a delivery to a different address.
Since VXL support supposedly has taken care of my address change from their end I'll wait see. And no, as far as I know it doesn't cost VXL to change the shipping address from their end.

What I am thinking is it must be only the bent neck Early birds got sent out. I don't see any straight neck EB's yet. It makes sense though since the pic that swagger posted on their instagram only showed bent neck HTs. I am also in the straight neck/no shipment group.
