@ shredhead - glad you like the flexibility of the kit for making up your own things as you go along, it's a big plus in my mind!

@ BF - it might be overkill for some but I use a little coffee grinder (electric) to grind my herb. I can drop anywhere between an ounce or a single stem worth in there and a quick pulse or two and it's ready to go. I think mine is the older version of this one

So hey, Dogs, I need some feedback here. I've been toying with some new poking tools for the 'standard kit' and some of you have probably received them by now with your orders. Specifically I've started including a simple stainless steel nail in the screen kits that are included with each Pup, and for some orders I've also sent a couple of longer stainless pokers that I'm cutting to length and sharpening. So for those of you who have received either or both of these types of 'pokers' are they useful, should I include them, are any more useful than the rest, etc? I want to provide you guys with useful stuff and don't want to waste time and/or money sending you all things that will just get tossed our or left unused you know?

Thanks dudes! Time to go open the shop and make some more sawdust.. oh and and all outstanding orders have shipped out this morning. :brow:

First off, the WPA/silicone stem setup is awesome. Here's a couple new best friends...

For the nails....LOVE THEM. The thin one makes a killer stirrer! I did this to make them easy to find and use....pointed end into the cork

Hey Dave! I have been meaning to post some pics and to comment on the Birthday Ash Log that you sent me. I was very pleasantly surprised at the extra goodies that you included as well as the excitement of opening the package (felt like MY Birthday!). I have been using the tools that you have included and they have been very very handy so thanks! And the tube makes storing them super easy. AND...the Lignum Vitae stem that you made for me is absolutely Gorgeous!!! Its like the stem is green with a tan stripe and the Twig is tan with a green stripe....goes great together.....pics to come.

I can't state enough how much I love my UD's...always in the lineup and always ready to hit a homer every time they are up to Bat!

*Edit* The wood stem mates perfectly to my Cloud Hydratubes....

Am I the only one using small scissors ? :p

Being an Aromed user, I've had to deal with an odd looking (though efficient) vape full of cumbersome contraptions. It's not a coincidence I was finally drawn to the Underdog. I'm always amazed by you guys pairing your nice and small dog with all these glass juggernauts, variable power supplies full of knobs, and electric coffee grinders (;)). When thinking of my future little dog, all I long for is simplicity...

Though it's always fun watching all this modding, except maybe for the Log Vape Power Supply thread which has become full of variable power supply porn, I'm a bit afraid to go there now .

I received the nails, and the longer stems

I find them AWESOME to use as a pokey for bowls, the screens etc. I use it 100% of the time!

I misplaced the longest poker for the time being however, but the nail works perfectly.

so I have a car inverter that I was going to see if its safe to use with the UD?

says the following

140w continuous
200w peak

input: 10 VDC -16 VDC
output: 120 VAC/60Hz

thanks

Yes, that inverter should run your power supply just like it runs at home. The dog itself will draw less than 10 watts - so the inverter is plenty powerful.

so i recently made some QWISO hash out of my ABV for the first time a few days ago. i'll admit that it definitely didn't come out perfect due to some particulates that ended up in the final product. during the evaporation process i did a water bath and kept switching out the water with hot/~boiling water for about 5 hours until there wasn't any ISO that i could see left on the pan. after scraping the QWISO hash up i put it in the oven for only a few minutes at a temperature somewhere between 150-200F(my oven is old and doesn't seem to hold heat very precisely). after that i felt that my product was purged enough to be safe to use as i doubted there would be any ISO left in the product after the oven purge.

now my final product is a very dark brown/black and very very viscous type of oil texture. my question is, how do you guys use an oil-like-substance in your UD? i've tried a few times and although i was able to get it to vape, its can be a slightly messy process.

am i doing something wrong or is that just the nature of vaping with QWISO hash? i've never tried any types of oils/hash/concentrates in the past so making my own is my first experience with it. i can remove like a small ball of it from the chunk with my poker, but when i put it in the silicone stem on a bed of herbs, my poker just comes up with the ball and a bunch of herb stuck to it  i feel like i have to like smear it against the edge where the silicone and the bed of herb meet.

however, i must say, that the UD definitely vapes this QWISO hash well. getting nice clouds and i can definitely taste the difference in the hits when i add it as oppose to vaping strictly flowers. so any insight for my veteran Dogs who have had experience with concentrates before?

ps- is QWISO hash the correct term to describe my concentrate or would calling it QWISO oil be more appropriate because of its texture? sorry for being such a n00b with concentrates, it's really rare to find people talking about it where i live let alone being able to get some.

One easy way is to take a little dab of the oil/wax, and then with the oil on your dabber coat it in small herb particles as much as you can. Then, you can easily nudge it off the poker by pushing on the plant-covered part so it doesn't stick back.

Another way is putting the iso in the fridge so it hardens and won't be as sticky, but that won't always work and then there can be condensation issues

The last way is using a lighter but requires practice/technique. Basically you just barely heat the dab of oil on the poker until it falls right off onto your bed of herb in the stem. Helps seeing someone do it first hand.

thanks SD, especially for such a speedy response. i'll definitely going to try that first suggestion you made later tonight when i vape. that seems like it would work well with how im vaping since i try to use very little amounts of it. however, i was thinking about freezing it too so maybe i could cut chunks off of it if i wanted some larger pieces to drop in. what are these condensation issues that you're talking about though? im assuming it's if i keep it in the freezer for an extended period of time?

It was something someone posted on FC but can't find it from searching. Its like when you fill a glass with cold water, as it warms up to room temperature there is water condensation on the outside glass.

The post said he had to take it out of the fridge/freezer and wait 30-40 mins until opening the container and removing the hash to prevent condensation. Dunno how valid that is, might warrant its own thread.

Dude of epic proportions
Hi all. Just wanted to again thank FC, UD peeps, and Dave & Co. in particular for the latest trophy in my lineup. Already hands down my favorite vape. Just can't sing enough praise for this little unit that's always ready to go, at the perfect temperature, and looks so damn good doing it. And as for customer service, besides all the extra goodies sent along, I think Dave had my package in the mail within an hour of when I ordered. Props.

I was about the take a picture of how I hold my UD, and wanted to ask how everyone holds theirs?
but bI got already sidetracked for a while since I just vaped some borderafghan(hash) mixed with nepal(hash) and I'm pretty vaped, easily distracted into sidetasks and without sense of time.
so I decded to just ask it first, and paste in my pic as soon as I've taken it, got it on the computer and uploaded. wich could take a while.

woohoo, didn't get siddetracked at all

I have questions for all those who vaporize...I've google it and read a few posts but so many seems to favor bubbler over bong on FC but on other sites, it seems bongs are much more popular since it's simple, able to take bigger hits and easy to clean. Most people said they like bubbler because it's portable. Is that the only advantages of having a bubbler? Is there any other advantages of having a bubbler over bong in "SMOKE QUALITY"? Is it better to use bubbler over bongs when "VAPORIZING"?

I mean I could get a decent good size glass bongs at local shops for like $50 but when it comes to bubblers, cheapest one I found was nearly $100. Granted, it's a nice design(eye candy), and portable but is it really worth the price and all the efforts of cleaning that little thing vs bong? I'm intrigued at this whole bubbler thing. So many brands and the decent ones always go well over $200. So I'm still shopping around but I really don't know what to get. It'll be strictly for home use with my UD.

PS I did go to glass part on this FC forum and read a lot these couple of days.

It's all really just preference. A lot of people on here like bubblers because they are overall smaller and smaller works better with vapor in general, be it a bubbler or tube.

OhTheAgony

here for the chicks
I've only used a bong for about a year and a half (the 250 Ehle in my sign for the better part of it, click for pictures), and it really is all you need imo. I recently got a bubbler to and I must say I do prefer that over a bong now that I'm used to it, but that's mostly because it feels more luxurious to use and perhaps it's a bit more ergonomic depending on how you like to vape. It doesn't improve vapor quality or a give you stronger high or anything like that.

I'd just let your choice depend on how much you're willing to spend to be honest.

Djonko: I always hold mine upside-down, like you, but between my thumb on one side & my index and middle finger on the other side. I do hold it by the sides though, not by the top & bottom like you do.

Except when I'm cold, than I prefer to wrap my whole hand around it (preferably one in each hand  )

I recently started using a bong aswell, and it combined with the underdog almost fully cured my vape buying syndrome that I had very heavily. The physical act of using it is fun and dosnt get old very quickly. Allows me to get heavy doses in a quick period of time. And of course the water filtration makes the vapor much more tolerable in my lungs and throat.

My bubbler and other vapes have been in storage since I got it.

Plus its a breeze to wash, I tend to rinse it once a day, or every other day and if you maintain, it only takes a few seconds

Got a quick question. I'm out of town and I brought the dog along for a ride (travels VERY well I might add). At home, I have been using the stock power supply plugged in to a surge protector that runs through an extension cord into the wall. At the hotel last night, I had it plugged directly in the wall.outlet and it was running considerably hotter. Not too hot or anything, just more than normal.

Would the extension cord and surge protector at home really make that much difference? If so, if you want to lower or raise your temp without a VVPS, this may be a quick way to do it.

Hey JD, an extension causes a voltage drop (bigger the longer the cord is) so it could be that you're gaining some power over what you're used to by not using it. Another possibility is that the place your staying has a higher line voltage than what you normally have at home. :2c:

I use a 12" beaker bottom tube, 5mm glass, with slitted diffusion downstem and ice pinches. Cost me $50. I love it. Hits great and easy to clean. Wrap a towel around it and it travels well. I admit that when I see high end glass bubblers, I think "that would be cool". Many of them are absolutely beautiful works of art. The idea of spending exponentially more money on them when mine functions flawlessly turns me off. In the end, if you have the cash and want the luxury, go high end. Many do and love it. If you have different priorities and function is the main goal, spend less on a simple piece. The good news is, we have choices. I am sure some would baulk at what I spend on concert tickets (I know my wife does). We choose what to splurge on various things based on the expected return in happiness. At the end of the day though, get a water tool if you can swing it. I think you would be hard pressed to find someone who did not think that it improves the experience. Especially with a UD :2c:
