Love the vid. Very generous of you. Wonder if those battery connections (spring and flat piece) are available without trashing an old part.

thanks for mentioning the vid willieR, I went back to page 94 and found it ... I am so excited about this. That looks like a pretty easy mod, and to be able to swap out the battery is GOLDEN! I don't know why companies won't just go ahead and make them this way. That seems to be the nature of the industry, if you can change the battery, it has other limitations, but if you can't change the battery it works amazingly well, until it dies. I think you just made my day with that mod!

Wonder if those battery connections (spring and flat piece) are available without trashing an old part.

I too would like to find a source for those battery connections, so we can link it up and make the mod even simpler... a good source for battery would be cool too. I have been hunting, but not completely sure about some of the things I am finding. I posted links to a couple of different batteries a few posts back, but have not had any response about if they are the right ones.

i posted a link to the spring in the tutorial, as for the other piece i have no idea where you would find anything like it, i would recommend just using a soldering tab or something, that would most likely work.

also, i want to stress this to people who want to do this: MAKE SURE YOU MAKE GOOD SOLDER CONNECTIONS! i was having issues with the pax not charging properly and not displaying the correct battery amount, etc, and this was caused by a cold solder point on the negative wire, so make sure your solder points are nice and SHINY before you call it good enough, just because its holding together for the moment doesn't make it a good solder :p

would 2 springs work? one on each end... or does there have to be a flat plate at one end...
it would need to be flat on one end, its so tight sliding against the flat piece of metal its pretty ridiculous, it might be possible to make it work but it would be a real pain to get the battery in.

i'm looking to see if i can find you guys a link for something that will work.

I am amazed at how little I am turning up with google searches. I found a couple of contacts that look good, but factor in shipping, and it's over $10 for a tiny part, so that's not going to cut it. I hope you can find some good parts, I must not be using the right words in my search... thanks for all your work on this dude!!

$3 shipped isn't bad for the parts... even if you have to extract them. I already sent an order for the springs, but that is so inexpensive, I will probably go ahead and get it. If anyone else finds the contacts that will work, please post links. I'll keep combing around, even though I plan to use the xbox parts.

the best i can find honestly is the part i scrapped it from lol, an xbox 360 controller battery pack :p

literally just ripped it apart and cut apart the metal piece inside to my liking using wire cutters.

totally off topic, but are you the dudeitsbrian from 360 modding community?

i might eventually do a pax battery upgrade in a while, once i get dissatisfied with the battery life

just so you know, i chose the xbox parts because i thought they would be perfect, not just because i had them laying around. i mean, i did just have them laying around, however i would not have modified my pax if i hadn't found parts that i didn't think were perfect for the job, after all i am a perfectionist :)

but ya, i just thought of the spring and it clicked in my head that it would be perfect. then i saw a battery pack, knowing how small they are i knew there had to be some small flat metal pieces in there, they just happened to be perfect for this mod.

Maybe this may help? Check out the link below for the battery terminal spring that may work

http://www.alliedelec.com/search/productdetail.aspx?SKU=70181634

This one may work for the negative connector?

the spring, maybe, but the xbox 360 one is better since it has an extended straight part which makes it extremely easy to solder to, the wire inside the pax most likely wouldn't reach that spring you posted.

also the negative end would be far too thick, the battery is already squeezed in there without anything on each side of it, you really need to keep it as thin as possible.

^^^^the only thing i see from the picture is if the wire is too short your f'd.
ah beat me to the punch. and you should use the spring on the Neg side of bat. you cracked me up in your video.Great job though.

It's only metal wire. Couldn't you just bend the bottom of the spring end into whatever position you need? Another idea is to look for some old electronic devices around your home that uses batteries that you don't need anymore. An old tv remote, kids toys, old flashlight, etc. are bound to have those springs in it to salvage.

well this is a tad bit annoying :\ "okay so the onyx pax additional inventory should be coming in and ready to ship by the end of the week"
where you order from? i got mine from pax directly... got a tracking number... but usps hasn't update a thing...

If you look through the site, they have battery spring terminals with the attached metal backing as well.

Dude Brian-man- Sorry if I missed this, but I take it you did not use the negative contact from the 360? The bigger one you proudly displayed in your vid.

Hi Skippy, I don't think australianvaporizers.com.au are stocking the Pax or the INH004 – yet. A Kiwi guy, FC name 'Elvis', got a Pax through a US forwarding service, www.shipito.com. You'll also need a voltage converter. There's more voltage info a few weeks back in this forum.

After reading posts on this forum and the Inhalater forum, I'm about to head back to the Inhalater forum to re-read what Centizen and others had to say in response to a recent post of mine. And then I'll probably order one, through a recommended guy called Taylor.

Happy vaping from Pacific Palms NSW
OK thanks, Hai_ Rypo, I'll keep an eye on the Australian vaporizer site.

that was from an xbox 360 controller battery pack, there are two pieces that look like the one in the video per battery pack.

also, cannot say this enough times, if you're going to do this mod make sure your solder points are SHINY, i have resoldered 3 times because i'm fairly sure poor solder points have been the cause of my pax not fully charging, just finished charging the battery i thought was a dud after my latest resoldering, the light actually finally turned green instead of yellow after charging, now testing to see if the battery life is as expected.

Ok Pax People the verdict is in on the Cobra radar detector car adapter.

First, it fits. The wire is a tad too thick to squeeze in the knotch on the bottom of the charger, but with the upside down charging idea, no biggie.

But other than that it works perfect!! For only 10 bucks shipped!
