David Goldstein's Fritted Disc

ilovebOObs

can i stick my male joint in there?
thanks jam! guess its just my luck with ordering glass from internet.

ilovebOObs,
I noticed this at first, but realized my end table was leaning forward @ about 1/8" per foot.
It seems that it would happen with most DI pieces if leaned forward.
But the disk placement probably has something to do with it how pronounced it is. My disk is at or below the top of the DI tube, and is smooth till barely leaning.
I think it starts chugging once its leaned forward enough for the water(below the disk) level to hit the top point of the DI tube where it meets the chamber. The curve of the DI tube itself could make that leaning point different for each piece. If that makes any sense.(i just reread it... It doesn't)

I suspect frit placement has something to do with it. You have a larger gap under your disk than mine has, and if I get the water up high enough it stops the chugging. Mine is about a CM over the frit when standing. Any less give me the chug which I previously referred to as a burp...
ok, I get it, yeah, lower disc makes chugging less likely. by tilting it, you give the foam an easier place to start. A number of things could influence this, wide pore in the disc, disc not in perfectly perpendicular spring to mind. Each piece is an individual, so they probably all have a tiny bit of "personality," if you will

This just showed up! Picked it, solo'ed it, mmm good it was smooth.
Honestly, I think that was the first or second tube I've hit, and was caught off guard by the airflow.
The 24mm joint looks "battle ready", serious beef.
It seems like a "A" quality piece, while my mini must be a B, with some rough finish, slight teeter, some extra bubble's in the foot sort of a line of them. That's really here nor there, because I didn't know any better till I saw this tube, most of all, they both fuggin' rock!
I will be thoroughly enjoying both of these for....(knock on wood).
Thanks Rooster

Oh yeah, I made that last week or two. I remember pulling it out of the kiln and saying "Nice!"

The provider who made your can has improved a lot. I let him have 4 discs the other day. I hope he's got it now, 'cause I don't want any more grief on that issue. I think the dope slap of a month back in the minor league got his attention.

Much appreciate anyone who wants to stick up for the product on grass city. The haters have moved there. I'm not investing any more energy in countering them.

Glad you like it. Thank you.

Its all the carcinogens going to the brain @GC.

havealight101,
Havealight : Hey can you take a side shot of your tube? Is the frit half the thickness? Is that the only DG you own?

Just got my DG's from fed ex. The glow in the dark can looks awesome! But something might be up with my tube. I'm almost certain the fritt fell apart somehow.

ok.

The Rooster.,
Yea its hard to explain. It definately doesn't purr like my other pieces and you can clearly see the frtt is half as thick. You can see when the fritt is colored that only half of it gets penetrated and the bottom half is clear still. Well this is totally missing the bottom half.

This is the best I could do
First is the good fritt(the new glow in the dark can style)

Then the new convertible in orange.

Then I did a vid

VapeNStone,
Here's a vid of the stacking. IDK know. I just want to make sure I'm not crazy. Rooster did you send out discs that weren't as thick for the convertibles?

Can anyone confirm this that has both a can style and a tube? Is the fritt in the tube not as thick? I want to know before I make a claim to NVS that my shit is broke.

Oh I see what you mean now. Yea that does look like an issue. My tube stacks a little higher then yours but not by much. I don't have a colored frit disk though, so I am don't know if it would be smart to compare the thickness... wondering what others thing about the your red frit.

no. that is an issue that is peculiar to red. it fuses a little low compared to the clear, but the weight is there.
Now....about stackage. It is strictly for show. The scrubbing action takes place at the surface of the frit, where the bubble originates, not up the tube where the bubble breaks. The red piece hits just as smooth.
Splash guard is one of my faq's. I don't like them because what I've seen/tried didn't work, but made the piece a challenge to clean. My answer to the splash guard question is the chimney shape in the convertible and the diamond shape of the micro-can. By giving the bubbles the option to spread out rather than up, it's easy to keep water out of your mouth, and it hits the same. If I'd put that red guy in a tube without the chimney, it would stack to the top easy. I just tried it with a red disc mini-can and it was bomb.

Could I ask for a little shape feedback? Less chimney volume means more stackage, and more water in your mouth. How many folks would like less chimney volume? Bear in mind, it makes no difference in the functionality of the piece whether it stacks to the top or stacks half way.
Personally, I don't like water in my mouth, I think the chimney looks harmonious, it keeps the center of gravity down, and the shorter piece is less challenging to ship.

If the jury comes back for smaller bulb, I'll figure it out, or maybe bring back a straight model. While I loved the straight prototypes in their time, I like the chimney better. A straight tube would cost a bit less.....less labor.

Whad'ya think?

Let you know in a min. Sorry was on da beach mon. Nvrmnd, rooster got it.

By chimney, you mean the bulge right? If so, I like it, straight tube doesn't do it for me looks wise

If the straight prototypes are like the ones in the "philly glass connect" video I really liked that look and it'd be awesome if you brought it back IMO. I like the look of the large straight can a lot and maybe if you made a "bubbler style" with a mouthpiece coming out of the back of the can and upwards it might reduce splashback as well. I'd love to have a bubbler style frit similar to the mobius stereo matrix bubblers. with large can and mouthpiece out the back so its easy to hit on a table :)

for reference the one i'm talking about in the video is this:

wish there were more vid on the new shape. that would help us gave some feedback.

i find on the bub i have to stand or hold it because the angle of the mouth piece. if it was more slainted so i can just rip sitting down on a chair with it on the desk like my other bubs.

That's the one I was talking about earlier. I want that!!! But with a bubbler style mouthpiece!

Oh and just to clarify I don't have a red colored fritt, it is orange in color.

oh, that prototype was a real pain in the butt. fwiw, I am using it's sibling for home dabs, it's really awesome. I always hold the piece in my hand when I am using it. I don't really understand why you would want to desk mount a piece if you don't mind explaining.
Yeah, that also shows red disc stacking to top with straight sides. I don't mind bringing the full size can back at all. Just seemed like everybody wanted chimneys so I stopped making the full size can.
Won't be offset like that one.
Still, you've kind of given me an idea for a novel contraption. Somethn' might happen.

I honestly just have a lot of pieces in my collection with the tube style mouthpiece and I love that can aesthetic with the mouthpiece coming back and up towards you.
Boobs above me already stated the other reason which is vaporizing with something like the Cloud is much easier on a table and that type of can with the bubbler mouthpiece would work amazingly for either counter-top/coffee-table dabbing or vaporizing with various devices.

The other thing i've seen in a lot of these styles is the top of the can is blown inward toward the tube to make a "dish" to hold your concentrates while dabbing. its another nice feature i've seen in this style of can and because the mouthpiece comes out the back it just fits the style perfectly.

ideally I'd love a nice sized straight can with the bubbler mouthpiece and the whole bubbler coming in around 13-15'' at the mouthpiece, so the can would be like 8-10ish'' i guess.

would be an awesome looking fritter :D (even if it was custom or a prototype :D)

Yea I like the tubes that are around 18inches. I like to be able to rest them in my lap and use my legs as the table/flat surface. I can then use my chin to hold the piece and have both hands free. When you vaporize sometimes it can be a juggling act to balance the pipe, your vaporizer, and what ever else might be going on.

i really like MW's idea. the straight tube with a the mouth piece on the back or side car style would be awesome.

I hope this doesn't come as a big shock by now, but I am kinda ignorant of a lot of the market and I'll fess up that this includes "the cloud." Anybody care to raise my consciousness on what this is? It would help.

There have been some dab dish prototypes, I think only one ever made it to market. I have put a couple of mouthpieces behind the can, most notably the Philly Glass connect contraption and the variant Aqua Lab got for 710 (which has a few unfinished siblings). My problem here is that it makes a tube that was easy, cheap and fast to clean into a tube that is not easy, cheap, or fast to clean, plus, it slows fabrication down, raising labor cost and decreasing production.

I guess the bottom line on offsetting the neck is like the colored disc and flare foot options-they slow down production, are you willing to pay for that?

It is a desktop vaporizer. It has an 19mm male joint that can be connected to many any water pipe. They also make something called a HydraTube which sits on top of the device, basically turning it into a self contained water pipe. I love my VapeXhale Cloud. http://www.vapexhale.com/

I actually wish you made a piece that had a female connection, so I could plug the cloud directly into the water pipe. I don't mind the adapter, but sometimes it comes loose. I hold it in place with one of my fingers and that does the trick. I would prefer the female adapter since I don't do dabs through the piece.
