The WISPR vaporizer

grimeade thanks for the info.
Kind of feel like iolite dropped the ball on this one. Especially since they never notified me about anything.
I wonder if I can get a refund. It sucks to be out ~$300 with nothing to show.

From your earlier posts it sounded like your unit was working fine? So?

The unit was good. I sent it back. No response from iolite.

So I still am in need of a good port-o-vape, immediately. Having the refund would get me vaping faster.

Any suggestions? I was thinking of the MFLB. However the wispr met all of my demands:

Refillable on the go, every gas station sells butane
Can share, longer session use
durable, no glass or breakable parts
small, pocket-able
Another bonus, I was able to use it while ridding a bicycle.

Have you considered a Vapor Genie Coil to tide you over till you get the refund. At the moment you can pick up the 1st version on the VG website for $20. It's a great back-up portable and really shines with a bong. All you need is a lighter and your good to go.

J.R.R.Tokin',
True, I purchased my whispr for the car, Idk if you can use the VG on the bike unless you can ride no hands.

I went back to the retailer and I asked where the wisprs were. They hesitated and said "those were supposed to be in last week." So it looks like everyone is in the dark at the moment.

I almost purchased a airizer solo. Are there any comparisons to the wispr? The genie is too analog for me.

The Solo is satisfactory for home or away, as long you don't need to pocket the whole thing (as in stealthy vaping). You can disguise it in a cup or something, but it's just not a pocket vape. While the wispr requires a fairly large pocket, it's more of a stealth vape and I'm never tempted to use mine in the house. Taste isn't great on the iolite vapes near the end of the bowl either, the wispr more so, due to its slightly higher temp I'd say.

So the Solo will give you more of an enjoyable vaping experience, taste wise, while the wispr is aimed more at 'on the go vaping' where being able to shove it somewhere out of sight is more important.

Great comparison Max, I own both and would agree completely.

I own these http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj584/MrNormlAZ/3Iolites.jpg and these http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj584/MrNormlAZ/3Portables.jpg but have asked without getting an answer yet - What is the advantaqe of the Wispr over the Iolite ? I realize the Wispr has a fuel window. I know it has that floppy rubbery looking tip. I am aware of larger fuel load, and a different method of sparking it on/shutting it off. Also aware of reliability that seems perhaps not as exciting as even the Iolite. So, I am still wondering - what is the benefit? Does it hit much better? Is the new shape/size a good thing? Why would or should anyone buy the Wispr over the Iolite? What's the benefit?

For some the fuel window alone is worth the extra $. Add in the longer vaping time, unbreakable and foldable stem, and hotter temp, and you've got a vape with more features and a slightly different operating temp. The company decided that was enough to warrant a higher priced model and it looks to be selling pretty well. For some it's not worth the extra $ and the iolite is fine. Some are happy with a Toyota. Others are willing to pay the extra for a Lexus.

As for the different shape, some like it. Others don't. Just personal preference.

I used a friends iolite which led me to this forum which led me to the wispr. I prefer the wispr over the first model. For these reasons:
Its stands up
Butane Gage
Floppy mouth piece
Better gas cycle. I try to play a game and see if you beat the machine and drag the entire time between heat ups.

Not sure how strong the first iolite is, but my wispr was tough as nails.

Yes its over priced, but so is an iphone when the new model comes out.

Ratm22,
This vaporizer is really starting to grow on me. I like how the side gets warm when it comes alive, the bowl lasts forever, and taste is medicore. It is great for relaxing when you are reading, or for prepacking before the car and and putting away easily. I have my silicone stem outfitted with those roor mouth peices and they are the shit: everytime they hot lick your lips and lip on them BAM cooled as can be. Although the solo uses the least amount of herb, is varbile temp, something gets me so medicated about a whispr bowl. The long sessions, and good laughs are also legit and a good way to pass the time when cleaning up desktop rigs

biojuggernaut,
Anyone have any tips on cleaning the WISPR?

I've been cleaning the wispr every other week with ISO since I got it and it does a terrible job to be honest.
Even if i chuck all the parts in boiling water for 30 min it still wont get everything out.

But the worst part is that rubber mouthpiece (mean the whole thing not just the extention bit).
It smells A LOT.
I've tried cleaning it with ISO, leaving it over night in alcohol (cheap vodka), boiling it in water and it still smells..

Tetra, I have a solution for you: Purple engine cleaner. It is sold as "Purple Power" or "Zep Purple Cleaner and Degreaser." Probably other brands as well. All the same stuff. They sell it by the gallon at automotive stores in the engine cleaner section.

Some smoke shops will sell it in a repackaged form as "Purple Passion Pipe Cleaner" for absurdly high markups (as in, $12 for an 8oz bottle.) The gallon version at the automotive store is around 8 bucks. It will last forever, because you can re-use the solution over and over.

Do this:

Pour about a cup of the purple solution into a small, resealable plastic tupperware or similiar container. Put the pieces you want cleaned into the solution and cover it. Let it soak for several hours, or overnight. This will totally dissolve any oily substance FAR better than rubbing alcahol will do. You can lid the tupperware and reuse this solution countless times, till it gets BLACK!!!

This stuff is designed to break up heavy-duty grease on an engine block, so it has no trouble with resinous substances on your pipe. It will not harm plastic, glass, silicon, metal, etc. Been using it for years.

Hope this helps!

PS Make sure you rinse it WELL it running cold water!

Followup to last post: According to Zep's instructions for the Purple Degreaser, it says not to use it on metal as it 'could damage' it.... not sure about this. I always used it on my glass. Also, can not vouche that it's safe on silicon.... I just don't know. May be worth testing it out to see.

Hmm that is odd. I have no problem cleaning the Silcone or the metal chamber that fits inside it. I have a problem completing cleaning the chamber inside the whispr. For the metal chamber inside the silcone piece and ISO soak and q-tips have been getting it done. An ISO soaked pipe cleaner has been working the silcone for me. Teh best thing for the silicone is those funky pipe cleaners that come with the WISPR. The frigging folks at O & B don't sell them and won't get back to me on where to get them. They are the perfect girthiness for the job..

you can get them at any hobby store, they are called pipe cleaners. They even have crazy colors.

I got my new WISPR in the mail today. came with a new mouth tube. I seriously its works like a charm. Ive been dabbing some oil (83% thc tested) exclusively for the past three weeks. I got some ok flowers today, took probably four drags and i am very medicated. i forgot how much i loved this device. It turned off immdiately after i flipped the switch, i am pretty sure this unit is 100% functional as advertised.

Yeah so you have seen the pipecleaners that they ship with the unit at a hobby store? cause i have not seen em anywhere. Real question: New mouth tube? As in it is different than the one on your old unit?

Sure, they're out there (O&B didn't really make them special...). Here's some cheap, even in pretty colors:

As far as the stems go, I think the change in question was from the original threaded plastic ones that broke to the same size but with a steel insert. The two types interchange.

I didn't know the WISPR ever had such a mouthpiece interesting. Anywhoo as to the pipe cleaners.... yeah I am some kind of moron who has never used a pipe cleaner or done an art project as a kid.....My WISPR shipped with 2 fat squat shaggy pipe cleaners that were perfect length and diameter for cleaning the silicone tube. Initially I thought they were silly looking till I used one. I found them helpful and wanted more. Shoot me..

You're mistaken on the mouthpiece/stems there, OF- you're thinking of the IOLITE mouthpieces, which changed as you say from plastic to metal threaded plastic. The WISPR mouthpiece has always been made out of bendy silicone rubber.

You're absolutely right (I was confusing the two products). I'm really much better at pipe cleaners you know......

OF,
yay, my WISPR stopped igniting last night.
Have tried to empty and refill it a couple of times and still nothing.
Guess I have to make another call to O&B..

Sucks to go back to combustion..
