I hope we haven't set your expectations badly: I would not get tangled up in refinements of technique before your develop a basic technique. Chances are you will not have any problems at all heating your M, though some of these things will help you refine. Don't expect failure/difficulty because i think you'll find it easy and enjoyable.
No no, this is just for a "what if" scenario. Its just in case the normal method doesnt work optimally. Imo, considering what im moving over from, the difference should be enough. But just in case, were troubleshooting cuz we're a little worried it wont hit hard enough since its a '21M and y'all have been saying the '19s are hard hitters lol

I’ll take that, and raise you “combusting because you straw loaded on top of an already roasted bowl you were too high to empty”

I’ve done it like 3 times now, wouldn’t recommend to a friend

Yeah I pissed on the rug...... so what
I absolutely hate the captives, they produce wispy Vapor at best, the older caps do seem to produce much better results for me anyways, even the new standard caps seem pretty tame compared with my old caps.
I kind of had the opposite experience. on the 21 tip the captive and my 19m cap (which I've always considered hot) preformed the same. and on my 19 titanium tip they also seemed the same for 1 hitters, clearing aprox 75% or more of the bowl in that hit. the only thing I didn't try was the captive on my 19 tip???? but it was not mine and had already stared to discolour slightly so I didn't try all combos. but that's @HyDrOpOnIc1987 cap to make beautiful with his use! maybe he got a good one?????

I've always touched my DynaVap to my bong to cool it down faster never had any trouble

And I'm very much looking forward to "making it beautiful" lol :)

We’re all different, captives just never done it for me, that’s the thing with Dynavaps you get a good cap and tip that just fit together perfectly and it’s like a wow moment, obviously every cap is unique as is different tips.

@TommyDee is the resident cap and IH expert, maybe he’ll bless you with some of his knowledge @HyDrOpOnIc1987

But yes, it is the cap. Older ones draw in more electrical current =more heat=better extraction. On a side note, certain IH like the UFO only seem to like newer caps with less electrical current demand - I try an OG cap in that and it gets confused and needs plugging in before it works again

Strange. Is there a IH that seems to work well with any type of cap? Or do they all seem to have their own preferrence of cap that works effeciently for that specific IH? Sry, new to everything so I'm just trying to understand what makes it all "click" lol :p

Umm it depends really!

Some IH (like the dynavap own brand ones) can’t be adjusted and you sort of have to adjust to them - don’t buy these as they’re kinda crap in my opinion.

Others like the VHB carbon or the ispire wand allow you to adjust to whatever cap and tip you have. Those two are some of the best IH you can buy, btw.

Finally you can build your own, it’s deceptively simple and of course adjustable to your setup.

Oh also you have cheap crap ones like the UFO, that are more than a little finicky at times and either combust your load or undercook it.

With the setup you’re getting though, you won’t have to worry about it too much. You can actually adjust an IH to somewhat compensate for tame new caps.

My advice to you is to just focus on your torch technique and then see where you’re at. The Ispire wand is always a great starter IH when you are ready to try one, it’s very easy to adjust it to ANY cap and tip on the fly as you simply hold it higher or lower on the cap

Agree with @My_50p_worth, @TommyDee is yer man, seems 2 know his stuff.

I don't have any cap, only regular ones (of various generations, though), so I can't really give an answer – what might help is a way to calibrate an IH to a cap, which my IH (Mag Heater Tornado, a temperature controlled machine) does offer. The maker realized at one point that for example black caps / tips behave very different from regular caps. And although I haven't looked into it too much, I have seen IHs with an option to regulate the voltage, which might also allow some fine tuning.

Does it let you do it repeatedly? That’s awesome! The additional electrical demands seemed to really throw mine for a loop and like I said will disable it until I plug it in

Funny how different they perform from unit to unit, or perhaps there’s been a slight hardware revision that allows for OG cap use

Ok, awesome! Was more of a curiosity question rather than a question that led to a purchase lol I'll definitely take the time to get to know it before i try for a IH. Wonder if i could trade the Air2 for an IH... lol i know of the ENT subreddits, so i may try eventually lol

That’s because the older caps rule bud:rockon:, my most used cap isn’t even dated and she rocks. I found that even that cap is tame if I respect the click in my IH (caldron), But if I respect the click with a torch it’s like wow🤩
