How often do you all clean your grinders?

I slowly but surely watched mine gum up. I was lazy and let it go for a while though (almost three years truth be told ). The mesh screen for the kief (4 piece grinder) was the most obvious place for observing the grinder begin to plug up.

I cleaned it out pretty thoroughly. It took a while because I moved on to more deep cleaning methods as I realized that the grinder was pretty sticky. I ended up boiling the grinder in water piece by piece for ~5 minutes each (light boil). Then after picking out any solids and using an ISO cotton swab to clean up the last bit of residue, I was pretty much done. With a quick water rinse and dry I was surprised at how my Grinder looked new inside again. No screen plugging and even the grind lid on top was looser side to side. It's a hundred percent better.

For those who haven't done a grinder cleaning for a while I can attest it's a world of difference . I highly recommend doing a regular cleaning now . I won't mess around next time ... I read that I can simply use my ultrasonic cleaner (it's hands off and a 2-4 minute cleaning cycle), reportedly this works perfectly. I like the idea of perfect and easy... and hope for it .

Our anodizing finish is called “Commercial Hardcoat” it is several times thicker and harder than anodizing found on most grinders.
We could but don't use a Teflon based coating due to the potential of the nasty off-gassing from combustion.

@ginolicious, fwiw that raw grinder looks similar to Amazon offerings that may be cheaper. A lot of grinder designs are being sold off-brand, likely from the same Asian factories.

I'm in no rush to buy another grinder but after some reading and research I see three potential candidates, Phoenician medium 4 piece, Masterdam and Platinum. I'm looking for a little finer grind than what I have for a change (medium grind or so). My current grinder is a Zeus Bolt (pretty much the same as the current Bolt 2); it's a quality unit and coarse grind that works very well with the EVO but I wouldn't mind a medium grind for the portable vape... and a change.

The lift innovations is a new design and I support Canadian products but the budget doesn't allow that.

I haven't seen a lot of medium grind options, lots of coarse, a few fine, not much in the middle. There's lots of offerings to sort through.

Best grinder on the planet imo is also from Canada, the Brilliant Cut Grinder. It’s a 3-piece that has three interchangeable plates: coarse, medium and fine. Its performance is flawless and the three grinds are as advertised, love this thing!

I’m thinking a 1.5 inch 3 piece mendo mulcher for my CBD flower (I only grind a tiny bit each time I want to use it), and a brilliant cut grinder with all three plates, and I should be solid.

I've been meaning to pick up one of those little tiny Mendos. Looks like the perfect micro-grinder.

I have a Zeus too. Don’t really like it. I use a puff grinder as my daily. Been using that for over 15 years.

I also have a Zeus Bolt that I received from Toronto Vaporizer as a freebie a few years ago. It's the only metal grinder I've known in last 6-7 years, before that was plastic grinders or good old scissors.

My biggest gripe is unscrewing it 720° to access the herb and then going to close it and the threads not catching 100% of the time. Drives me friggin nuts. The grind is decent enough I guess, but I'm ignorant in that regard to the high end options out there.

I still have my sights set on a GFL. Magnetic i.e. no threads was what really grabbed my attention. Initially I hadn't even considered a 3 piece but after hearing others rationale of "why save the kief when you can have it now" I think I'm set on a 3 piece. It's ruined me a little actually. I look at the Lift Innovations or Herb Ripper and I can't pull the trigger knowing the bottom section will be that much harder to grip compared to the GFL. And those are two amazing grinders from what I've read and seen. Then there's the colors, that's just the cherry on top. Such a beautiful design. It's just so bloody expensive. It's more expensive then any other grinder out there and for less when you compare it to a 4 piece. I'd be looking at $192 CAD to my door, crazy.

I was a hundred percent where you are at. All my grinders for the past 15 or more were 4-piece. But yeah, I think I'll be happy with 3-piece from now on.

...this CANNOT be emphasized enough! one should not be this stoked over a bloody grinder, but @Grinders for Life has made this a reality... just thinking about it now

@SquirrelMaster, too bad that the Zeus isn't working perfectly well for you. I've never had a single issue with the threads on mine... to the point that I never even considered that grinders may have thread issues . It sounds like your grinder may have been a little off in production tolerances.

The Phoneician grinders have a very short lock/unlock design which I think is appealing, but those designs are not without potential issues as well. In watching Youtube review videos of the Phonecian grinder some people were accidentally unlocking the chamber when grinding the herb. At least with a 720° or so thread even if the flower chamber starts unlocking when grinding flower it won't come off accidentally.

I never again want to have to turn, pick my hand up, reposition, and turn again to open my grinder. Both the SLX 2.0 and the Super Weapon II have like half turns to open them, and I never want to have to twist more than that again.

And, with my Brilliant Cut Grinder from @Grinders for Life , I can open the thing with one hand like an expert chef cracks an egg open with one hand! It’s fucking epic and has spoiled me away from threads all-together if I can avoid them with my future grinders

If someone doesn’t make it obvious I will sometimes ask. Looks can be deceiving, so I ask if it’s not obvious because misgendering someone is an easilly avoidable mistake.

There are lots of different preferences out there and it's great to see many products available to meet all that . Speaking of a medium grind option, my friend has a rare Steezy grinder he got free with a vape purchase from a moderate-size on-line Canadian retailer years back now. It's great and I'll try to get a picture of it sometime. I can't really find any info on it on the internet any more.

Just finished cleaning out my Zeus grinder that I've owned for 7 years and never cleaned. I wish I would have taken a before picture but it was spur of the moment.

Looks very interesting.

Threadless design, square shaped so grip should be better than normal, and looks like a nice big reservoir.

6061 aluminum though. (Not bad, but after the brilliant cut...)
