What about some DIY Concentrate Experiments - would be ideal for first steps into Rosin.....
i would not roll your shatter in Kief, this would give a lower quality Product. If you just want to play around a bit or impress your friends you could make some Caviar Nugs - Weed with a bit of shatter on it, then rolled in Kief.

If I had a decent press I'd save my kief for squishing but I don't think a press is on my radar anytime soon - I wouldn't be able to afford anything that's worth the money... And I don't have endless access to nugs to squish... bc that's exactly what I'd wanna do. I'll prob just do plain ole kief+flower mixed bowls I suppose. Lame but it'll work

@HippieHitman Moon Rocks, Caviar and other names like Amazeballs is a nugget of bud dipped in oil and rolled in kief. It's expensive if you buy it at a dispensary. I suppose they sell it on the black market too.

@muunch You can flat iron kief. I do a smash session once a week and honestly. I looked forward to it everytime. It's satisfying. I use a 2 inch 25 dollar walmart special at 290 and no bs i get 20% + everytime. It takes 30 mins tops to smash 4.5 grams.

This, I've said it so many times before but people who think they are somehow going to waste flower compared to vaping it when they use the rosin tek do not understand that when you are not using solvents, you can simply vape the pressed nugs if you like! Nothing has to be wasted!
So true. Vape it, smoke it or make edibles with it. Options galore.

Yes.
Two boro microscope slides - put your concentrate in-between them. Then, wrap them around the outside in your choice of parchment (I prefer oil slick slick wrap) to stop anything coming out the sides of the slides. Keep this in an airtight mason jar. The glass slides cost very, very little and give you a cheap borosilicate container for your concentrate - you can easily collect all consistencies off flat glass like this with a shovel or flat dabber tool without scraping the glass in a dangerous way. The problem with just using glass jars is they have round edges which you can't easily scoop residue out of.
I do not use any retail solutions (Nogoo/Oil slick containers, traditional glass jars, whatever else is available) because nothing is easier to use and also avoids reactions between your meds and polymers used for storage containers like the above suggestion.

For shatter and pull & snap I like parchment. I've yet to try the oil slick clear, neat as it looks. Maybe it will become popular in 502 packaging and I'll pick up a gram of pretty looking something soon.
I like these tiny, straight walled glass jars with a silicone lid that are popular for packaging in at least CA and WA, for the real terpy stuff that's no good in a no goo, or oil slick. But if these get upside down the goo will run right into the lid, not ideal, but for terpene preservation these are the best ive found for extracts that sit on your desk. And I think I am getting 98% or more scraped out between two simple tools (a curved dabber- the standard issue one with a thin pointed side I used to scrape the walls and corner [and the thicker 'scoop' on the opposite end] that came with every vape pen for a few years, and a flat-head HE dabber for the bottom of the jar.) $0.02

I did a dab for the first time a few days ago. Its totally beyond my scope of practice as I've just recently started vaping. I've tried 1 concentrate pen with oil that was like 30% THC I want to say. That could be completely wrong. It tasted very smooth. The vapor felt whispy but it was really thick. Great Flavor on Par with great flower.
I expected Dabbing to be similar but the taste was harsh and burnt however the cloud was thick. My neighbor who is like 10 years my younger set me up. Was it just too hot? Was it the concentrate? It looked like crumble not like rosin or shatter. However it dripped a dark amber color when he dropped the drop or dabbed or I don't know what I'm talking about. Anyways Id like to try it again.

@Paka-cholo if burnt or harsh tasting, the dab either had contaminants in it and/or it was vaporized too hot. Was this a torch heated nail or an e-nail?

It was a torch. He couldn't find his nail so we used one of my picking tools I believe. I read somewhere on another threat that the nails have to be treated or like cured to get proper flavor? So maybe this was also the reason?
@Paka-cholo Welcome to the wonderful, flavorful world of concentrates! It sounds like you can only get better results from here on. Was it a titanium nail that he was heating up with the torch?

@muunch My friend uses (used) a grinder that extracted tons of keef (a waste in my opinion). He's since changed grinders and I've got him turned onto vaping so he doesn't get any more keef now.
Anyways, he had a large jar of keef (like A LOT of keef) and developed a stupid easy, cheap press system.
He took a dime (10c) and went to the hardware store, found a piece of PVC that the dime fit into, and stacks two dimes at the bottom. He loads keef into the chamber (not sure the amount but the discs come out a little thicker than a nickle), and drops two more dimes on top to create a press. Then he takes a punch, screw driver, or anything with a larger surface area and pounds on the top two dimes moving the punch around the surface area. Within about 2-3-5 minutes he pushes the contents through and ends up with several nickle sized keef disks.
Cost: $0.10 x 4 = $0.40 plus a few cents in pvc material.

Lol thank you Matthend! I'm going to try again for sure it's just a lot of equipment for me at the moment. No it was what I call my happy shovel which is a tool I got from my local smoke shop. He used the flat end. There is still a bit of residual dab on that end it looks like.
