Post edited. I didn't know the pre-orders went that high, was that during 2015?
That was the price increase from last September/October, they were around $370 before that. As a late pre-order I'm not sure the price before that.

How did you get yours earlier than some who ordered before you?
Well, I haven't yet seen any orders here that were before mine (5/23/15), but regardless of that I was/am, became, a beta tester and likely wouldn't/shouldn't qualify to win this benny anyway.

I THINK I was the first to get a unit after Pak and Sticks (and Kero). But it was/is still early beta. Pak and Sticks may have still been alpha.

I am waiting with you for the production unit, tho the beta has kept me happy.

Whoa ! Way over my league! Heck I'd need a real job to afford that! Maybe I can take one of my guitars i build for about same price and start busquing around to save up.

Makes me even more happy and appreciative to own a Bamboo HI which im still etting aquainted to & do enjoy. Its just not portable but milks great. Posted a vapor lung video in the thread . I suppose the Milaana is more in my budget. Knowing this makes me want to build my own vape again. Meh, I'll stick to my proven HI.

I think it was $160 when I ordered. Does that sound right for other early orderers?

I think it started at $150, then went to $169 sometime around july 2015.

It changed to $199 in Sept 2015 (when i ordered. 6th Sept 2015 to be exact, although Ryan honoured the $169 price as i had attempted to pay in August but the website/payment portal wasn't accepting my address for pmt verification, so i had to wait until he could sort that out)

I purchased the Milaana for $89 in the same transaction, just fyi, which was not too long after they were available for pre order, maybe a month or so if memory serves me <unlikely...>

It may then have jumped to $229 sometime around January 2016, but things are gettin real hazy now folks, so don't be trusting this too much.

I have an idea I would like to share.

I just got on the waiting list and I was looking at batteries for the Zion (I must be an optimist).

I understand that the Zion and other vapes that take more than one battery (Venus Apollo for one) need to have the batteries paired and using the "wrong" battery (not from the proper pair) could cause serious problems.

I stumbled on this item https://www.imrbatteries.com/18650-pvc-heat-shrink-wraps-10pcs-pre-cut-yellow/ you can get wraps for 18650 batteries in different colors. These wraps are 10 for one dollar so having different colors would not represent a serious investment.

By wrapping each pair in a different color it should stop all but the most seriously stoned person from making a mistake.

Maybe it's partially because the zion i get will cost about twice what you early birds paid, but I think $3-$5 is a small price to pay to protect your investment.

@chimpybits I think you mean the Mi-510....

And yes, it will be a cost effective way to experience Zion control over a Milaana heater... but only Zion is Zion. Thanks to everyone that jumped on the waiting list.

Great idea @sickmanfraud I will plan on stocking some in the store when it opens back up after Zion is completed. For all that are concerned, non-matched pairs have been tested and there is no danger provided you are using RBT batteries. The failure mode is that one cell fully drains before the Diode kicks out due to low voltage. Although it will reduce the life of the cell slightly testing has shown the cell will not see any major damage. Most accidents with these batteries occur when the are rapidly discharged with a super sun-ohm coil (near dead short) which is partially why RBT tech in Not customer serviceable.

The good news is these batteries have a great shelf life and will last well over a year with continued use.

Well I'm off to repair Loki :). man it feels good to get this train rolling again (smile)

UPS guy dropped off the bearing and knob "smoothing" material today and intial fit-up look good! As always, stop over to Instagram and check out the latest pics and vids. Thanks to everyone who stopped by for the Live logo design session. This is a really cool way to interface live with customers and answer questions so plans are to start a weekly Live. What kind of things do people want to see? Inboxing, tech talk, usage, monthly update? BTW there is still time to enter the #RBT500 Milaana give-away so don't miss out.

A special thanks to everyone who put there name on the waiting list as we are half way to 50!

Hey folks... over the last few months the learning from the Milaana heater has driven a redesign of the Zion heater. Early indications are showing an improvement in performance. Loki and another original Beta unit have been fittingly fitted with this #RBTzion2 technology and will be shipped out soon for expert evaluation.

This appears to be a small physical change that is an easy retrofit and will work with the existing stock of heaters. Looks like there is a chance that everyone's Zion just got better :)

Steel rule dies are on order to cut the new voltage control knob damping pads and the selected material is on the way for the shaft bearing. If all goes as planned the stranded three warranty repairs should start to be retrofitted in about a week. Please check out the Instagram feed for the latest pics and vids.

Meanwhile @DieHard Loki made a...

Ready for my Zion! Been waiting since September 2015?? Luckily I have my underdog and crafty to keep me satisfied till then!
Thanks for the patience and continued support! I am honored to send a Zion along to be with such great company.

@P.A.M. full disclosure all of my videos are VG on hemp fiber. That is just shy of max voltage... boys will be boys :)

Thanks @IAmKrazy2 I hope so, I am really excited to see what the experts think. Since @DieHard has a production unit he can do a side my side and let us know. I will reserve my impressions until after the we compare notes.

A great feeling to have two of the original OG Beta units back on for a face lift. Now they are like sleepers with a new engine lol. Things like the one piece door, the full recessed button, lack of reverse battery protection, and no stash spot or stir stick... old school mo foz.

I think I will do a quick video review of them before they go. Who know's if two beta Zion's will ever get together again lol.

With increased heat control a sapphire or SIC insert might be a consideration. Low watt flower hits and a concentrate plate? WOW Take my money! Oh yeah already did. I think I might make out on the exchange rate of 2016 dollars vs 2017.:brow::rofl:
