I've missed a lot, catching up here! As always I'm impressed, @Vape Donkey 650, your gear.... I hope I have a collection like that at some point... Up until yesterday, I was using all of my v3's without WT, all the time.

I finally had the money to grab an adapter, hydratube, and extra v3 to try it out. I ordered the hydratube from Matt, and it is great quality. While it is not a $200 piece of glass.. that's not how much I paid, and I'm happy with it for the qualities it has. Like has been mentioned, it will sit on the base, but rocks a little bit. There are some noticeable welds but that is OK because the birdcage/matrix perc hits VERY evenly. I am very familiar with china glass and the uncertainty that comes with, so this was a perfect hydratube for me. I also have a d-021 as my dedicated rig (w/ ceramic nail) and the percs are very close in shape/size, diffusion, and function. This one sits completely under water since it is lower down, which I like over the d-021.

As for the v3 adapter, I gotta say, I disagree with the beta testers! I know everyone called for a shorter adapter than the betas, but I'd prefer one of those (if anyone isn't using one of the longer ones and wouldn't mind parting with it... let me know!). The reason? This one is JUST too short to use with my Tesla Stealth(s) - pictures soon! Since I was around last, the Mrs and I have added to the collection. She now has a black Stealth TC40/black v3 setup and a blue Stealth TC40/white v3 setup. I have three, a white/white, blue/black, and black/black. Each one serves its own function (currently one of three consistencies/ flavours etc) and thus they all get used. These are good since we use our v3's mostly for 1-2 hits of meds, so the smaller batteries don't kill us. They have become our go-to mods, at least for the most part.

Those who have seen the Tesla Stealth TC40s know that the fire button is (ergonomically) on the top of the unit. This is ideal for me, since a majority of my use is for arthritis pains in my elbows/hands, and I can use these devices even when I'm having trouble using my hands. Sometimes a front-fire button is no good for me, especially (the Mrs just likes these because now I can diagnose her vape probs for her, since they are familiar). Since the adapter is so short, it is very hard to fire our Teslas with the hydratube atop. Instead, I have tested by using it by heating to temp (unattached), then quickly attaching and taking a quick small hit. I take 2-3 of these as opposed to my usual 1-2, and am medicated about the same. This is OK, but I could benefit from somewhere between 2-4mm more space for my finger to fit between the mod and the hydratube. Then I'd be back to my familiar place for dosing my hits.

I've picked back up my vt75, as a result. Last night I finalized the curve for the medium donut. I am happy with it. It always stays in TC, though sometimes I need to unscrew and replace the v3 to get it to TC after sitting overnight (short lapses don't cause this). I am certain that this is because of the DNA75 chip's extreme sensitivity to stable resistances. When it cools completely, the vape freaks out. Starting over makes it happy. I liken it to the fact that you should power-cycle your smartphone at least once a week. I only use medium donuts/cups exclusively now, since they are leak-proof with two solid wires in the posts. I probably will not return to modification of the curve for the old large donuts, since I have 1 left that I do not even use and do not see being useful. Also, the higher TCR new large donuts are exclusive to my iStick, which I use for friends/family who are beginners to try out and learn the v3. So my vt75 setup is finally complete! It works amazingly with the hydratube. Set at 206C, it hovers between 198-204C while in use, and never spikes above 208C. You can get a cooler hit with a harder pull (198ish) and a warmer hit with a slow draw (204-206). I typically leave the temperature alone, set at 206C. The vt75, as I've mentioned before, and even now with the sometimes-needed manual reset, is no good for quick medicating. In fact, I need to medicate before using it, so I'm mostly using it for fun now. I'll add some photos tomorrow, and maybe some more comments on what I've noticed...

Will my Thermovape Luna batteries work with the pico, or should I order different ones?
I'm at work right now with no way to check which ones I have, I know you are familiar with all the Thermovape line @OF, if you can help me one more time I will greatly appreciate it, soon I'll have to PM you my social security number so you can claim me as your dependant on your tax return, hahaha.

hello all,
can anyone help me with a customer who has a ipv6 the v3 does not register on it .

I can get into the TCR mode and set the temp to 325 or anywhere close and I still get nothing. The fire button "times out" or something at 20 seconds....

Can someone give me some advice and a ballpark setting they use and I can adjust from there.
I can't get anything out of it as is though.

Thanks in advance.

Nobody has jumped on this one, so I'll take a lash? I have no personal experience with this guy (I assume the one in question?):
https://vapenw.com/ipv6-200w-tc-mod-by-pioneer4you

This is 'an intermediate' TCR mod by the looks of it, with several presets but no option of manual m value entry. We should still be able to work around this, but the displayed temperatures will be off (probably too high?). I can't find a manual on line (do you know of one?), therefore you're on your own for button press sequences but you need to:
  • Set maximum power 18 Watts (large doughnut, 12.5 for the medium size).
  • Select a TCR mode (probably SS and Ti are best bets?)
  • Dial up say 200F and see if it will regulate there (no doubt no vapor)
  • Slowly walk the temperature up
You should find a 'sweet spot' where that power level (don't cheat.....) reaches 'temperature limit in a few seconds from cold, a bit longer with a fresh load. Time and power levels alone can 'get you started'. Though far from ideal you can also set VW mode for that same 18 Watts and cautiously use it like a normal vape pen......but you'll be giving up a LOT.

I guess it's possible that hardware just won't work, we've seen that with another DT product so there are some mismatches it seems. Even if it works OK I think you should consider something like a Pico or Nano. Much smaller (a much better match to the low power needed here), easier to carry and hold, and proven performers mated to the D3. Notice how they seem to show up in so many videos and photos? Clue there.

WUXoDZR.jpg

That's Pico on the left, Nano in the center both under V2.5 attys which are almost the same size. Both are about $30, Pico can use one of the 18650s from your mod, Nano has one built it. FWIW, in your hand Nano seems much smaller.

Good luck, great enjoyment ahead, your efforts will be rewarded and goal reached if you press on.

Will my Thermovape Luna batteries work with the pico, or should I order different ones?

Yes, in fact I have one of mine in a Pico right now. Does great, go for it.

Not to worry about the SSN, I'm already claiming you. And both your grandmothers. Lucky all 3 of you are blind.......

The problem is I can only adjust the unit by watts or joules only with this atty. I have no idea of the temp I'm actually getting. I can't find a manual online either and the tiny book it came with is useless.
I started at 80w, got a little hit and vapor but nothing major. Herb still very green and doesn't appear to be cooked at all. Tried 85, and 82.5w and I hold the fire button and it ramps up for 10 seconds then stops. I try it again right away and it goes for like 2 seconds and then shuts down and the display reads "TOO HOT!". Slightly browned herb but can't get more than one or two decent hits before it shuts down.

I wish I could just tap the button, it go to 310 degrees or so, and stay there for 5-7 min to get a decent session.

This thing holds a LOT more herb than my pen. Shame to ruin/waste it.

@divinetribe just a rough sketch and quick idea
QN8Vt5C.jpg
I think a metal ring with some grooves cut out and magnets that slide in those grooves. Somewhat of a simple key/lock groove. Then the metal ring with magnets can be screwed onto the mouthpiece. Magnets are cool but honestly, orings are probably more cost efficient and easier to manufacture/design. Just have the mouthpiece have grooves for orings and have orings fixes to the base

We've got a couple problems here. The maker seems to think limited TCR mode is possible but without more instructions we're unlikely to find it. Even then it will be a compromise since you can't enter custom values like with Pico, Nano or many others. Unless someone with one speaks up or a manual can be found we may be SOL.

Next, V3 is a concentrate cart, designed for oils and waxes, not herbs. If you really meant you have the TC Herb cart, not the V3, you may be SOL for TC use anyway. I've yet to find a mod that with do TC with them for whatever reason. The new type herb cart, rebuild able, may be another matter. I'll know more when I get mine or someone reports in, but since that came out yesterday it's not likely that's what you got the new version.

Bigger still if you really did hit any DT or DC cart with 80 Watts it's no doubt toast. That would easily blow it up, several times over maximum power. I suspect you're in the market for a replacement there as well?

Does the cart still indicate the correct resistance?

So I got the retractable Weeding Tool in today and am using it on the road in the car as we speak. I gotta say, this thing is so cool. Click, and a needle point is exposed for use. After loading, another click and the needle disappears. The spring in the pen is strong so you really feel the snap of the retraction, which I like. Makes me feel like I'm holding something high tech. The needle protrudes out plenty and will replace my current tools for the dt attys.

Oh and I guess as a side note I dropped my tcr down to 445 21w @420F for the higher resistance large donuts. It hits temp protection at these settings and flavor is much better. For me, it's identical to my tcr 300 21w @420F for the lower resistance large donuts. I know I said this before with TCR 700 or whatever but I admit I was wrong. Flavor was definitely a bit burned there. Not as bad as people would think but tcr 445 has much more flavor with plenty of vapor.

Edit
Turns out the red or blue Weeding Tool will work just fine. The blue 0.6in point has a shorter taper but uses a smaller gauge pin. The red 0.9 in point has the same sharpness, but with a longer taper on a much larger gauge pin. I'll go with the blue because it's cheaper.
Here is a weeding tool insert to fit standard pen housings. I have a nice hand-made wooden pen this would fit in.

Does anybody knows of a good and reliable place to buy the iStick pico at a reasonable price?
I looked on eBay but the seller advertise it as clone/generic, that doesn't sound like genuine, does it?

If shipping time isn't a concern you should check out places like fasttech & gearbest. They ship literally on the slow boat from China, but great prices. For a slight increase in price you can go to the large US online vape outlets like my vapor store, vapenw, vapor beast, vapor dna, etc.

Or you can get a pico with the custom divine tribe firmware and a good battery from Matt at ineedhemp.com for a very reasonable $45. His shipping is super fast too.

A recent thought I've had that might be easy to engineer would be a 510 adapter for the V3. As the massive airflow can cause some issues (cooling the donut, pulling oil up the sides & onto the mouthpiece, etc) for some people, this might be a useful addition. I'd think a ceramic plug with an O-ring to secure it in place in the top of the mouthpiece & a 510 hole on top should be easy enough. A heat sink style fin or two might well help with the ceramic getting hot during longer sessions. Oh & if you got really ambitious you could put a top airflow vent in between a couple of heat sink fins. I'll try and draw a crude MS paint version of this later in case my description isn't clear enough.

Thoughts!

Sorry still a n00b. The resistance is measured from the 510 threads to the center stub? What reading should I be getting? In ohms?

I just got my DC dry herb cart v2.7 or whatever on Monday. First time using it. It seemed to still heat up to the last time I used it.

Matt has been so awesome at DT. Very quick responses. So I ordered my pico from him and I returned the IPV 6x to the other store.

Hopefully my cart isn't toast.

Although my limited TC devices are Tesla brand and probably use a different chip, I have always used Ni mode over SS or Ti. If you can get into Ni or NiCr that would probably work best. I used Ni over Ti and SS on my istick as well.

Resistance should be displayed on any mod that's appropriate. A bit under an Ohm, open (sometimes shows 0??) for dead ones. Pico will fix this.

Pico is a great match with V2.7, but not with the herb cart. This is still a confusion I think. V2.7 is for concentrates, not herb, it has no 'grid holes' in the vapor path:
https://ineedhemp.com/product/2008/

The herb cart I think you got, Generation 1, has 'built in screens' and was difficult/impossible to use in TCR mode. It's basically obsolete:
https://ineedhemp.com/product/the-dc-dry-herb-atomizer-510-thread/

If just just got this, it means you ordered it a few days back, this is likely what you have?

Yesterday Matt released the Generation 2, perhaps that's what you have?
http://ineedhemp.com/product/generation-2-dc-ceramic-rebuildable-dry-herb-atomizer-copy/

This one, hopefully, will work well with Pico and similar in TCR mode. I got mine today, and thus far it's doing fantastically well. I want to play with it some more before posting details, but thus far it looks mighty fine to me.

I suspect it won't be a long wait, you know I'm not real good at keeping that kind of stuff secret....... Get your CC warmed up, I smell a winner........

No, it does not fit, the Gen. 2 herb cart has a flattened MP, not round. And since the MP contains the upper screen you'll need a new MP I think. I'm betting that won't be long in coming, but expect it'll be ceramic (in honor of the built in screen) and use o-rings or similar as a gasket?

FWIW, it's looking to me like Matt's on a roll. V3, the WPAs, Gen 2......... Gotta wonder what he's gonna pull out of the hat next.

@OF: how's the heat with such a short vapor path? It's even shorter than on my FW2.1 or X-Max V2, and I find both almost unbearable (similar to what many GH users report too)

Most of you guys are using water tools of some kind so it's often quite misleading for those who use their vapes exclusively dry like me.

Ahh, didn't even think about the upper screen, Im occasionally buzzed when posting! :D

I'm certainly considering a 14mm adapter and PNWT for my V3 to play with, I would just need a different WPA for the dry herb atomizer - no biggie!

I agree Matt is certainly on a roll. I'm really digging his ethos with this affordable/rebuildable/medical grade trifecta going on. Factor in awesome, rapid customer service and well, that's who I want to support.

Thanks for the advance notice @OF. Just sent the funds to get onboard with the new herb atty. Figured I might as well grab the power source from Matt while I was there. Under $100 for a convection based, rebuildable atty, removable battery, helluva customer service and company mission. Why send your hard earned cash anywhere else?

Hi. I bought granddaughter a Smok Alien as a way to get the stupid heart patient off cigs. It overwhelmed her with the multiple settings, cleaning and use so I took it back and set on shelf. I saw the DT Weed accessory for $24 so figured what the hell and ordered. I have it. I have usd it. The settings I used are from the video (M1, 350 degrees,35 watts) and I can get one hit of true vapor and several follow ups of undetermined quality. I dump chamber and very dark duff. I haven't complained because it is so minor an expense and it gives life to something I have no use for. I tried bud, medium and fine grind. I have increased watts to 50 for a bitter hit. It reminds me of my NO2 that while it works (vapor) chamber is too small and constant fiddling required for those of us with "higher" needs. Other folks like it. I don't want to piss in their punch. I just use other vapes more to my needs and preferences. It worked, just not enough for Sir Piggy (myself.) If anyone reading has "Why you idiot, this is what you do!" advise I would love it. I put prefilled cart on it and get good results but I prefer flowers. Just do. ( I hate to beg even from a plant)

tltr Lots of different vapes, get what suits you.

Actually, since no such adapter exists as yet, it is kind of 'a biggie'.......you'll have to invent one for now. Matt will eventually make one IMO, but that's almost certainly for the new Gen 2, not the Gen 1 you (and a bunch of us) have?

The V3 adapter, OTOH, is available and proven solid. And is recommended to V3 owners so inclined.

Thanks for the advance notice @OF. Just sent the funds to get onboard with the new herb atty. Figured I might as well grab the power source from Matt while I was there. Er....ah....it's not convection, it's definitely conduction. Not all that important IMO, conduction can obviously do excellent vaping, but if that was a 'must have' you're on the wrong track.

I'm also not sure about Pico as a mod here yet. I had some trouble with mine 'slipping into power mode' unexpectedly like the Gen 1 did with 3 different Picoes (although they appear to not all be 'as sensitive' to this). One does it (almost) every time, one once in a while, the third ran great last night (after I tightened a loose screw on one post), many dozens of heating cycles, two (at least) full loads. Then it faulted on the first try this morning???

Two different eVic VTC Minis haven't missed a beat. Easily well over 100 cycles, perhaps a dozen loads with no issues except it really chews through the battery charge. I'm seriously considering digging out the Cuboid (same basic thing, dual 18650s).......

Anyway, I need to play some more before summing up, but for those who want to explore on their own I'm using the same m value as with V2.5 and small V3, namely 245. I've set maximum power to 24 Watts, but Matt says I can go higher (he lists 33 Watts max). This reaches 'protection' in a single 10 second cycle (give or take) at 390F selected. At that point I cycle the button to reset the timer and start the hit. I'm sipping slow as i can 'overrun' the heater easily, using most of the allotted 10 seconds. The ABV comes out uniform and well browned, like you'd expect with Air/Solo, the FMs, and other similar conduction vapes with similar ovens. I may be a bit lower in effective temperature than 390F, but not by much.

The loads are smaller than normal, on the order of 1/10 to 1/8 gram as I'm loading which is a big plus from many performance angles, but it means it's not really a good session vape? More useful for a quick heat up (vapor in under 15 seconds from cold), and a hit or two? The sort of duty the original Summit was designed for? Only better. And faster (which is better).

Some things to work out still, but IMO very promising from

^ thank you for clarifying, I was under the impression the 2nd generation herb cart was convection based.
As I enjoy consuming other herbs at lower temps, I still feel the initial investment is well worth it. The Pico
can always be relegated to standby duty for the extract cart.

Yes I meant the V3 hydratube adapter. I don't have any DT dry herb atomizers but will probably get this v2. Sounds like a less session-y version of the Air we've both enjoyed for years? With much faster time to vapor production no doubt.

What you say about battery life is what I was anticipating, my Evic Basic probably is not a great pairing since the battery is fixed, but i figure if I like the v2 enough I may explore a larger mod for it.

Does anyone know the inner diameter of the V3 and V2 mouthpiece? Is this the same diameter as the donut housing or is the housing bigger?

@fernand I recall you using a crucible in the V2 or perhaps it was the V3. Do you still use a crucible with the DT? If so can you provide a brief updated review on the fit, performance and cleaning with the crucible. Also, any links you have to the crucible you use or used would be great as well.

Great, the V3 adapters are super and IMO reasonably priced. Even @ataxian can afford to keep them in use?

I agree, fixed batteries are a disadvantage here unless they're huge? Being able to swap new, freshly charged, ones in my be the key for many folks. I don't have a Evic Basic to try yet (lost in shipping land somewhere.....) but don't hold out much hope unless one needs truly tiny? Since Pico isn't working well yet, I haven't been tempted to try my Nano.

FWIW, right now I think both V3 and Gen 2 are winners. They addressed a lot/most of the issues from their predecessors.

V3 MP ID is .689 inches. I assume you meant Gen 2 (the new herb vape) not V2 (the obsolete concentrate vape), which is .754 ID. For reference the V3 cup is .622 OD.

The cup you mention is the cup that holds the donut right? I am considering buying a DT V3.0 and adding a crucible to the setup but I want to see if I can get the crucible on order prior to receiving the DT V3.0.

Thanks for all the help!
