The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

The other day i took my Q to my buddies place and we used it there. We had smoked a couple bags(so it was really hot already). And then we decided the bowl was pooched, so we were going to change it.... That thing was so hard to take off, my friend said 'dude its stuck', so i try and sure enough its stuck lol, i dunno why it would have been so hard to take off, seeing as there is nothing to get stuck on. So, i decided to just simply reef it out really hard ( had to pry it it was on so much). I got it out doing so, but would that damage anything??? Im thinking maybe the heating element expanded because it was hot and thats why it was hard to get off... or maybe my friend simply just shoved the thing on WAAAY to hard... What are your guys thoughts on this? I hope i didn't damage it :uhoh:

Also, what kind of sound does your guyses Q make? Mine just kind of 'fizzles' or 'crackles' quietly every few seconds or more... Just wanted to make sure this is normal...

I'm going camping for Canada Day, im definitly gonna bring the vape and an extension cord. I don't miss my pipe one bit since i bought this thing. I could be on a infomercial testimonial for the Q hahaha. To bad Billy Mayes is dead, he would have made a mean spokes person for the Q.

That was exactly it. When I purchased the Q, my dealer told me to wait till the thing cooled down before taking off the cyclone bowl. He said one of his customers actually managed to pull the heating element off along with the bowl. So just turn it off and wait a bit.

I am one of the few rare ones on here where I have had my Extreme Q for 4 months now, and I have only used the whip system 1 time. I have used the bag (actually still on the original 1st bag that was already set up) every time i get high (usually 3-4 times a week). Phenomenal. That said, I have 2 questions related to the Q:

1) can you get an ac adapter/cigarette lighter adapter to where you can plug your Extreme Q into your car (say for things like hanging out at a concert in the lot all day or camping and thus you could be close to your car).

2) Can you use hash with the Extreme Q? I ask b/c i just got a gram of some great stuff, but how/what would be the best way to go about vaporizing this hash? Put it in the cylcone bowl on top of the herb, or what exactly? Finely get the hash as ground up as possible or just break off a piece and put in?

Thanks!
I am also interested in this. Vaping in the parking lot before seeing a movie is something I want to do. Can anyone shine some light on this topic?

You can get the rechargable battery pack if you want it to be portable. It's somewhat expensive, but if you plan to take it everywhere it'd be handy. If you turn it off when you aren't using it, it should last for a 2-3 day camping trip without needing to be recharged. It'd certainly do for a single day at a concert or wherever with no problems. I don't think they have made a car cigarette lighter adapter, but you'd have to ask them to be sure...

I just got mine and it's great. Big step up from my old "VaporCannon 3G" . The portability of the unit is really handy. Just plug in the battery wherever you are and go for it!
Much easier to control vapourization temps. The display shows the core temperature of the unit, but the actual temperature of the air/herb depends on rate of flow...Using the fan makes it pretty predictable.
But I don't like having the vapour forced down my throat, so I generally have the fan off when using the whip...so there's some difficulty getting the draw speed just right, particularly after a few hits, same as any whip style vape.

Also a shame that it only goes to 260 degrees. Still have to use my old VaporCannon for the few herbs that need higher temps. Wormwood needs a temp of 300 I believe...

What about using the Extreme Q for hash? Would that just be a waste of the hash (I don't have the oil, just the solid form of hash). Will it still vaporize the hash? Just curious, may be a dumb question.

Hash should work just as well as normal bud
It has the same chemicals and oils as regular weed, just more concentrated, so they should vapourize at the same temps as usual, but you'll still have that small amount that dont vapourize until combustion temperatures.
I imagine the vapour would just be a little more potent, not having all the sugars and water content of bud.

I've never tried it, but it should work fine. I've vaped oil(soaked into bud or ABV) with no problems.

VapMonkey,

Persona Non Grata

turn on, tune in, hulk out
put pressed hash in a coffee grinder for a couple buzzes, until its grains about the size of salt. big chunks dont vape very evenly. then sprinkle in the middle of an elbow pack, or mixed in a cyclone bowl.

We really need to have the mods put this info in the first post. It is referenced several times through the thread you might want to read it.

Wait, wait, wait a second

1. ok just got excited about a battery pack for the eq 3, but my god they are expensive anyone know an alternative? Or best place to get one?

2. Also am I doing this elbow pack right, you pack the thing up then put it on top of the cyclone bowl to connect it to the unit?

Is it just me or is that waay to far from the heating element? Can't seem to get anything to vape when I do this.

3. Have a 18.8 water/ice bong coming. I know everyone recommends this tubing.

http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=23278&clickid=redirect

What item number on that page is the right specs to use?

Wanted to have a smaller separate hose to use with the bong. Also I Know a lot of people just use it as a heat gun, but I'm afraid of breaking the thing trying to use it as a heat gun in a group setting. This is a concern right? Seems the heating unit if fragile.

Also If I wanted to use as a heat gun there is no additional things required right because I'm getting the 18.8 joint size?

Thanks!

And getting the hang of this thing, I have been loading the cyclone bowl and just sitting on it for a couple days. I don't smoke much during the week. But omg this thing is the best purchase for me ever.

sounds like u are doing the elbow pack right, trust me its not too fay away at all, i use same temps for elbow pack or cyclone bowl. maybe you are packing too tight, your weed is not ground up enough, or your weed is wet. likely not the last two if u are getting vapour in the cyclone. pack it basically as lightly as u can with confidence it wont come out...just a tap is all it takes. also are u elbow packing to fill a bag ot using the whip, i find it works better with the whip.

using the extreme as a heat gun worries me too, but works if your real careful. u either need a bong downstem which has space to put a screen and hold the weed on top with still space for the male end of the extreme, or use some type of adapter. check the electrician and IIDXBoss for examples

Ya the elbow pack question must be one of the more frequent on this site.
Many fuckers have been asking how to set up the elbow method with the Extreme. Here is how I do it.
(this was originally posted by me over a year ago in the original extreme thread)

1. First grind up your bud finer than this. For some reason my grinder could not get this particular bud any finer due to me not waiting long enough to dry it properly. This is a perfectly measured amount, I packed it first and then emptied it out to show quantity.

2. Pack it in just tight enough to not fall out when placed into the cyclone bowl. Leave your cyclone bowl empty unless you are showing off and want to blitz some buddies or put the ABV from your last elbow into the cyclone bowl for an added boost. Suck on the whips mouthpiece and the air flow should feel slightly restricted, no restriction = pack a bit more bud and a bit tighter, too much restriction = give the elbow a quick stir and re pack a little looser.

3. Here is the nicely toasted remains, I really hit this elbow hard for photo purposes, with the last 2 hits at 260c and as you can see there are a few pieces that are too dark.

So what are the advantages of using this elbow joint method?
I prefer the ballon method myself, is this method mostly for use with the whip?

O and another question. The Extreme Q is my first vaporizer, I wanted to know what things I should be doing on the regular to maintain my EQ?

I was also wondering if packing the elbow to fill a balloon is something you can do or is it for whip only?

Ive used an elbow to fill a few bags. I found that it helps to stop the bag about 1/2 way and give the elbow a quick stir, and you need to use fan speed 3 or it will just take forever due to the lack of airflow from the screen. But apart from that, its a great way to do bags if you are by yourself.

Personally I think the one area the Cyclone Bowl excels is blowing bags....with the constant airflow, especially at fan speed 2 or 3, the Cyclone Bowl allows some movement and a greater volume which is great for filling bags. That said I stopped using the bags within a week or two of getting the unit and obviously didn't test out elbow-packing very well at that point.

I know I've dug up those same pics concerning the elbow-pack a couple times, its too bad Arizer doesn't use the elbow-pack as a selling point.

Herb in the elbow instead of the bowl is for richer vapor hits. Since filling bags is a constant air flow process, using the elbow doesn't offer the same benefit as with whip use.

That's probably because it would be admitting that using the bowl for whip hits leaves something to be desired when compared to standard whips on other brands.

Hey Everyone, first post, but this thread definitely helped me decide to get the Extreme Q!

Ive owned a Kia vaporizer and a natural goods one for about 2 years now and got kinda sick of vaping and sold them. Then realized how much I missed it and decided to go all out and get this vape, and man it blows my old vapes out of the water.

Ive read up on temp settings and what works great for me is heating it up on the 3rd fan set @340 for 5 mins, then dropping down to 210.
or warm up then go up from 190-220 in increments of 5.

For the elbow method, cant you just pack it normal then inhale hard once and it packs the elbow without restricting flow too much.

design is sick, Im just wondering does anyone know the bowl diameter and elbow connector diameter? is it possible to buy a bong downstem/ female that the glass elbow can fit into like it does the cyclone bowl?

Welcome dude. Everything is 18.8 mm on the EQ.

So has anyone bought the official Arizer battery pack?
I am considering this but I can't seem to find any stats on it. How long the battery last, how long does it need to be charged etc...

I'd try the car charger outlet method but, someone told me that using that outlet when your car is off is bad for the car battery and leaving the car on isn't an option now that my city has rules against idling of cars.

^ The load shouldn't be too bad on your battery, assuming you're not going to have a 3 hour vape session in the car. If your battery can handle running your speakers or AC while it is off, it can handle running a vape. Once you drive around you will recharge the battery anyway.

On a side note, the glass blower i was talking to on etsy seems to have disappeared off the planet. I shot a message to FC's very own Clear_Dome about the project.

I really hope he takes it...its maddening that there isn't a shorter bowl for this unit. It would really increase the efficiency and effectiveness with out the work around of a water bong setup.

How do you guys clean the mesh dome screen for the mini whip? I toss it in alcohol but it's still gunky.
