All you have to do is disconnect the pump for whip usage. It works extremely well. But yeah the pump clogs airflow when attached and it's kind of a hassle opening it so much. Did you try disconnecting the pump? I know the Versa is shit if I leave the pump connected.

I actually made a bag that has a whip on one end it was pretty fun trying to inhale the bag quicker than it was blowing.

I haven't tried disconnecting the pump. I don't think it would be worth it for me unless the bowl could be modded into something smaller. With my Herbalizer I can pack tiny bowls so it's hard to want to pack a mammoth Ion bowl very often

As do I. But I've been cutting back recently to allow myself to enjoy the herb more. My periods of overconsumption tend to come with depression and anxiety, and the Herbalizer & underdog make it very easy to to vap reliably small and clouds dosages.
And I'm not enthralled with the Ion's vape signature, which fees very similar to the Volcano--another vape I didn't love. Definitely super powerful and potent, but something about the wife bowl size and heated fan assist hair makes me cough a lot and not be in love with the taste.

Overall I've spent no more than 200-400$ on vapes but have owned over a dozen. Craigslist got me:

And many others bought and sold and traded for on FC and Reddit. I've enjoyed the tech like I had much more money than I have, simply from a Craigslist bookmark

Well... If your going to try fixing it your self, if I'd recommend searching up WHAT specifically was the common reason for them to fail to heat up. I'd check that first.

Next I'd probably start by checking that the heating element is not damaged and is getting proper voltage and current (voltage and amperage).

If proper voltage/amperage is going into the heating element when it's supposed to be firing, you probably need to replace it.

If your not getting the right voltage/amperage, then obviously the heating eminent isn't getting going to work right and you need to keep tracing it back and figure out why...

I haven't used my Zephyr in whip mode in a while, so I recorded my first bowl back at it. Truly forgot how amazing this thing is and how well it worked with high airflow speeds.

Its going to be hard to pull me away from this when I'm at home.

I was lucky enough to snag an almost new Ion for 60 and change shipped on eBay. Some lady had it and I don't think she had a clue what it was

This will be the third Ion I've gotten from eBay in the past 5 or 6 years. All under $100 haha.

I got an absolute steal on this thing. They couldn't have used it more than 20 times. Gotta wait for the accessories to arrive from @PuffItUp but I can't wait to use the Zephyr again.

When I was in high school ~7 years ago a couple buddies pooled all their money to buy one of these brand new from the local headshop. Can't imagine what they paid for it back then especially at our incredibly overpriced head shop. It was the first truly good vaporizer I ever experienced and I've been hooked ever since.

until I found the weak link, which was the non-removeable top which collects a good deal of resin.

I know this post is 4 years ago but just wanted to say for anyone looking the top part comes completely off. The rubber hinges are removable and in newer models have little grips so you can easily pull them out and remove the entire lid for cleaning.

Welp sorry to make 3 posts in a row in a dead thread but this is definitely useful information for the 3 people who might run across it in the future. If you're trying to get the Zephyr to work in Windows 10 with the software from Zephyr it won't work anymore. The device is unrecognized and you can't select "update driver" as everything is grayed out.

The solution is to download this driver and install it. It appears to be the same driver/installer included in the Zephyr software so I'm not sure why it works and the one from Zephyr doesn't but that's the way it is. I'm able to fully control the Zephyr from my PC now remotely using TeamViewer. I'm not sure how this is at all beneficial but it sure is neat.

You will still need the original Zephyr software in order to control the Ion. Located here. If either of these links aren't working when you come across this post feel free to PM me as I've backed both files up on my storage drive and would be happy to reupload them for you.

Edit: Combined download with correct drivers & zephyr software included.

Is windows not recognizing it or what? I saw you said Zephyr sent you the files but the files from Zephyr no longer work if you've got anything past win7.

I don't know technology is odd. Windows beeped like it acknowledges but it just never worked. Its probably more work to use my pc than just press the button in front of me, but I understand the buttons are a weak area.

This is correct.
There is no doubt... I helped 2 patients with no internet access order brand new Zephyr Ions just over a month ago. I also allowed a Current Zephyr Owner use my computer to order some parts from them this week.

Zephyr was nice enough to send me those files for your pc but i couldn't get it working on either of my pcs.

Same here.
Patty's LapTop was windows 7 and it worked... but it is now windows 10, and the software does not function in that environment any more.
The astonishing news, is that we have access to a brand new mac (High Sierra) and while the other preferred macs do not function with the software, the new one does.
